    As a die-hard Yankees fan, it is horribly SAD to hear the news about a great competitor like Red Sox legendary pitcher Tim Wakefield. Back in the day, Tim Wakefield definitely made Yankee/Red Sox games very interesting. RIP Tim, it was a pleasure watching you pitch.

    As a 50+ year Red Sox die hard, I can truly say there has never been a better man to have put on that uniform. People from here know. This is a tremendous loss, heart breaking. God bless his family.

    He didn't hit like Papi, or pitch like Pedro, and he may not have had the presence of Tek, but this man was one of the definite leaders of those clubs from '95-'11. He did everything the team ever asked of him - start, relieve, close - and always looked for more. He was an 8 time nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award, winning it in '10, which should tell you all you need to know about his character. I've been a fan of the Sox since '78 - great time to get on board, I know - and Wake was, is and will always be one of the finest men to have worn that uniform in all those years. God bless the Wakefield family, and Rest in Peace, Tim.

    Aww man, I had no idea he was even sick. Wakefield wasn't flashy, he didn't throw particularly hard, and he needed a personal catcher, but he was durable, reliable, abd dependable, and the Sox wouldn't have won the 2004 ALCS without him. R.I.P.

    Dammit, how are us Red Sox fans supposed to hate you guys after this kind, classy tribute?

    • @mig50cc
      @mig50cc ปีที่แล้ว

      By only limiting the "hate" to the field. At the of the day, we boo our rivals on the field while taking playful jabs at each other as fans, but we also support one another no matter who we root for because we know not to take the game too seriously.
      The late, great Tim Wakefield was one of the key figures in successfully ending our dynasty in 2004. The mere mention of his name as starting pitcher commanded respect from the Yankees, as well as heightened nerves. Great pitcher and Yankee rival that he was, by all accounts he was an even better man, which I believe is the highest form of tribute that can be given.

      No need to. As a Yankee fan, not only did I marvel at his precision in applying his knuckleball methods as a starter, I deeply respected his benevolent endowments in charity organizations with warmth and compassion. We may have our differences together as baseball rivals over the years, but it doesn't dispel the fact that Tim was one of the most talented and beloved sports figures who will always be fondly remembered. RIP, Tim "Knuckleballer" Wakefield.

    As a Bosox fan, thanks for this classy tribute. I cannot begin to tell you what a giant of a man Tim was. He was humble, down to earth, respectful, friendly, kind, fun and everything good in a human being. But more than that, he was generous and loving to a fault. He was our ambassador to the Jimmy Fund, raising many millions of dollars to pay for patient care and thousands of hours of research. He was the Honorary Chair of the Red Sox Charitable Foundation, meaning he was at every charity event the club held or sponsored - the face of the organization. He was a regular visitor at the seven major hospitals here in Boston, relentlessly giving his time, warmth and inspiration to countless cancer patients. You could regularly see pictures of him with bald kids draped over his back, their plight obvious and their smiles so encouraging. We are much more than heart broken by the loss of our Roberto Clemente award winner, father, husband, champion, and good honest man. May G-d hold his beautiful, gentle soul closely forever.

    in life ,we always worry about so many things on a daily basis. Whether its finances or health or something else. if you spend every single day worrying before you know it you will be 70 then 80 and then its over . Thats if we even make it to that age which is not a guarantee. That is why it is EXTREMELY important to have piece of mind for the very limited time we are on this earth because when we get old it would be so sad to think i spent my whole life worrying and now im old .My life was about worrying and nothing else and now life has passed me by. Stay in piece. Piece of mind is even better than being a millionaire.
