I just moved on campus for the first time (I'm a sophomore) this past weekend and it's so exciting just knowing we're in school at the same time! I hope this year goes well for the both of us😁

My university is the same. They prefer the term first year over freshman due to all the negative connotations that the term freshman has gained over the years. In order to have first years not feel so scared by phrases like “freshman Friday (which I don’t think is really a college thing)”, “freshman 15” or the common upper class-man complaining about these “damn over-eager freshman” they try to refrain from the word.
