    Thank you for making these vids! I've been playing this game and taught my husband. I think the ratio is : "You lose three out of four games" and not "You win three out of four games." 😅

    Whoever told you that you win x/4 times is lying. There needs to be a mechanic involved that shuffles the side piles. Maybe decrease your score for each side pile shuffled or something. Otherwise you're more than likely to lose. I ran these rules through some software and found that the win rate is < 1%.

    Thank you for providing this game; I've really enjoyed playing it.
    I've incorporated the following variant into my gameplay (perhaps others do it also). Should one of the reserve piles become empty, I fill the void with the highest-value card from one of the other reserve piles.
    This sometimes uncovers needed cards that will enable me to continue playing.

      That sounds great. I’ll have to give it a try.

    lol you are missing stuff, you missed the 4 of clubs so many times. Could have unlocked both those 4s had you paid more attention, lol.

    In game #1 you could’ve put the Jack of clubs on the clubs below.

    If a row on the left becomes empty do you replenish all 4 cards with cards from waste pile? And if you have no waste like started yet do you replenish from stock? Or do you replenish them at all?

    At 16:12 when u turn over the 5 of hearts, I think u should point out why u can’t play it (ie since the 5 of diamonds is above in the first row). Did I miss s.t.?

    • @riffleshuffleandroll
      @riffleshuffleandroll  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you did not miss anything. I totally missed it! That is perhaps the most important skill solitaire games require... paying attention! I was too busy talking to even notice it. I should have played that 5!

    You mentioned a couple times that you felt this would make a good "thematic" game. Would that suggest you think this mechanic could be translated into a multi-player game or were you thinking more of a solitaire game with a custom deck or what exactly? I agree that this mechanic seems fun and unique, thanks for sharing.

    • @riffleshuffleandroll

      Thanks for watching! I could definitely see this game evolve into a multiplayer game. Maybe use two decks? For now, such a project must be placed behind other things I need to get done. If you happen to work on the idea, please be sure to tell me! I’d love to hear what you come up with.

      @@riffleshuffleandroll I enjoy two player card games that have the feel of two simultaneous solitaire style games with a shared deck. Lost Cities and Seven Wonders Duel come to mind. You're playing against an opponent but they don't feel like a traditional card game. Maybe I'll give this Osmosis game a shot to get a feel for it.

    So each row to the right of the four reserve piles have to start with the same number?

  • @bsnbsn621
    @bsnbsn621 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So is it won if you get all of the reserve piles cleared? Or is it the whole deck? I cleared the reserves and was left with 4 10’s that were not in an order to allow me to place them.

    • @riffleshuffleandroll
      @riffleshuffleandroll  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is a great question! You ended up with four tens in the draw pile? That’s wild! And terribly unlucky. The game is won when all of the cards are in the foundations, so you were incredibly close.

    • @bsnbsn621
      @bsnbsn621 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@riffleshuffleandroll yeah, I’d say it’d probably be a better game if the four stockpiles were cleared as the win condition. I was able to win with all cards in the foundations after that game. This game seems very much dependent on the shuffle and not much on skill. But it’s a fun time burner.

    • @riffleshuffleandroll
      @riffleshuffleandroll  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bsnbsn621 I agree. If at some point the card you need is buried in one of the reserves.... you are hosed from the get go. That is the case with most solitaire games though... they are more a process than a game. I really like the layout and "cascading" foundations of this game though. There has to be a way to make it more of a game.

      I think that it’s fine that this game, like most solitaire games, are all luck and lack a strategic component.
      For me, I enjoy the creativity of it all. Not for myself, per se, but this is a new and refreshing experience.
      ps Of course, using strategy, we hope to presented with choices (nearly) equal in value, but as a board game designer of children’s board/card games, this version is both ingenious and refreshing. :)

      I've cleared the four draw piles and left with three cards from the ones in my hands. That's the closest, I came to winning. @@riffleshuffleandroll

  • @YT-User1013

    I’ve learned that each row you place is determined by the top row and not the row just above it (as shown in this video:
    th-cam.com/video/KZjGbXmtF_A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=FsYjf7a3spu6qtRk)
    Also, just pull 4 cards off the top of the deck and place them on the table face up. Why all the extra effort in dealing them out one by one face down and then turning them over?🤷‍♂️Just sayin
