    Great vid, despite your mic/cam problems. Ive just gone through the same thing with my K6s v5 and the roadcrushers. Im watching this as i charge my batteries to try again with a 23t pinion. I got 59.8mph, approx 96kph with an 18t. I want 70mph. Thats my target. Thanks, bro.

    Thanks for sharing your experience! I have a Kraton pre-roller that hasn’t been built yet, and not sure I want to, but I enjoy seeing what others do with the Kraton.

      RC Dabbler No problem man, I love to share my experiences so others can learn. And ofcourse my video's are also for entertaining purposes 😁 I like to watch a lot of TH-cam video's myself from other members so I can be a part of their experiences and fun. It is a great way to share the hobby I think. Make sure to subscribe and see you in the next one!

      Kenny mph Melanko Thanks Kenny, they are great. They only need a pinion change to really get the car going in to big speeds.

    Im debating getting a typhon or Kraton 6s. I cant decide. I love how the Typhon can rip up road and handle nicely. But I want to do like you did with Kraton with the road tires but you say its slower unless you change the pinion?

    • @Tomberland84
      @Tomberland84  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Picking one of the two is a personal choice. For me if I had to choose I would keep the Kraton. But the Typhon is one fun ride also. The reason the Kraton is slower with those onroad tires is because they don't balloon when going high speeds. So a smaller diameter tire results in lower top speed. This can be compensated to play around with different pinion sizes.

    • @FalcoINC
      @FalcoINC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tomberland84 I gotcha. So do you think I could run the street tires with whatever the bigger pinion that comes in the box and be ok running it on flat, smooth surface? But then I would have to swap back the pinion when in grass or dirt along with the dirt tires back on? Maybe it would be better getting a typhon and using the stock tires on off road and get a set of street tires for road. Maybe could just swap tires on the typhon and between road and dirst and not have to play much with the pinon each time.

    • @Tomberland84
      @Tomberland84  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FalcoINC Yes I have to admit that switching between (belted) road tires and normal off-road tires is something I don't do on a regular basis. Because if you want optimal speed with the belted onroad tires you need to swap out the pinion each time. And if you want to do it correctly you also have to lower your suspension. So it would be easier and better if you would just buy or build a dedicated car for off-road and a car for onroad. Or buy the Typhon and get a extra onroad tire set like you said. Because the Typhon is more suited for onroad than the Kraton. From the factory the Typhon is a off-road car. But since it's lower to the ground and has smaller tires it is a good platform for speed run builds. That's why you see a lot of people on TH-cam who made a speed monster out of the Typhon. But if you really want to do it correctly you need to change the complete electronics, buy belted onroad tires, lower the suspension, install a locker in the center diff and buy different (stiffer) springs etc. If you are just interested in running on asphalt every once in a while you don't have to be so critical. Than a extra street tire set will do just fine. The Typhon is better suited for a onroad run every ones in a while in comparison to the Kraton. That is more of a pure off-road car (at least in my opinion) Good luck with your choice!

      @@Tomberland84 Thanks for the reply! Yeah I dont want to have a mega off road car that also does 80 on the road. I know you cant have it both ways. I think what you said makes sense about the Typhon. Its already better suited for on road, smooth quick handling. But could also run it in the grass/dirt and be OK. I dont want super speed runs out of it. Just a car that with a change to some street tires would give me a bit better handling on road and still be bale to put the stock tires back on and run it in some grass/dirt. Sounds like the Typhon would be the easier out of the two to both things reasonably well. Im not planning on doing any massive jumps or any crazy bashing. I like doing more of a course or compact dirt track. One thing I think I will miss out on with the Typhon vs Kraton is the snow we get here in Ohio. Probably would have to keep the typhon on road if I got any snow, if it even runs on that :)

    Larger diameter tires are like a gear and go faster. I saw a guy on here get his Kraton up to 68 mph with stock tires and he changed the motor it comes with. SRC are higher quality and belted though. Ballooned tires probably tear apart after awhile

    • @Tomberland84
      @Tomberland84  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Chupp Yes very true. Maybe if I had the stock tires with me on this run I would have reached 100km/h+ easy because of the ballooning. But I would not feel so safe with them than with the belted SRC ones. When I get the 21T pinion I'm not even going to try the stock tires. They will balloon so bad I might rip them apart. 😵😜

    • @stuart3712
      @stuart3712 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      kratons that do 100mph use all foam small wheels with stock motor just changed gears. Im thinking its more on the weight of the SRC wheels. And then you got the typhon, small wheels, really small stock and it goes 60mph but do balloon but not like the large kraton tires. I have yet seen proof on this theory, just guessing with no real science proving what you guys are saying.
      I'd like to see stock kraton tires VS kraton taped tires and see the speed. If this is true then the none belted ones should go faster. I just looked and did not find a vid on the matter so if i missed such a vid, link it, i'd like to know....

    • @Tomberland84
      @Tomberland84  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hoochi Koochi I already did this experiment off camera and ofcourse the stock tires which balloon are the fastest. But they can only go so fast untill they explode. The SRC ones or some good taped ones can handle much greater speeds. I like your idea about making a video with a tire shootout. I will do that. I am curious myself. 😇

      Hi, I've purchased them from a hobbyshop here in the Netherlands (rcmodelracing). I think they also ship worldwide. You can also buy them from Ebay. The wheel nuts are from Aliexpress. They are very cheap and you can buy them in a couple of different colours. They are great because they keep the dust out.
