I love this chonkamonk little lad with his happy face. He's a love and he did very good. Mine breaks his dang stay as I'm approaching after the ring walk and I'm going to set myself on fire over it at this point. He just gets so pumped because oh my god my service human THANK GOODNESS IT'S BEEN SO LONG and I'm like no god JUST STAY ONE MORE SECOND and he explodes and leaps across the ring.

rottweilerandmustang, I thought you did great both in your competition and in handling the negative comments you got. Keep on going!

I noticed she’s using hand signals. I have been using hand signals but someone just told me we would be disqualified if we did. What is acceptable?

For stay command you can use both voice and hand. For heel, come it's one or the other

This is beginner novice a not novice so they allow a little more of both.

This performance should not warrant a 192 , she needs to go back and train better, when I competed we would not been able to get away with this, early 80-90 , we would have got points taken away from us if we did the things that are going on in the ring now , and even the dog had no interest in working either.

Ina this is beginner novice A. I have never done obedience before. I was super nervous, I had a twisted ankle and we had basically trained outside not inside and our first trial with wearing masks. Hr was distracted because he also couldn't see my face. Lots of new things I hadn't taken into consideration. We did get points off for things just because his heel wasn't perfect doesn't mean we didn't warrant that 192. People wonder why obedience is a dying sport. Its because there isn't much support for newbies and I basically did a lot of training myself at home.

@@rottweilerandmustang , I commend you for getting out there, still the way they are doing obedience today still not excepted to me, I am saying back in the day when I was competing the judges would have allowed a lot , and sure would of gotten a 192, and as a trainer and teacher I would not want my students to go out there with a mediocre performance, and if they had issues that would cause them to perform at their best I would recommend them to wait when they could be at their best and no excuse cause.

@@Tryhardclan-ld7iq in practice outside he was a lot better so i figured I would give it a shot I'm not about wasting money just because I twisted my ankle 2 days before the show. Being we were going to a indoor trial I didn't think it would be a problem as we do a lot of agility indoors but this I know is different so I figure why not give it a shot and I was happy we passed. Yes maybe in your eyes in beginner novice a i didnt earn a 193 and this isn't what you expect as a teacher with your students but I at least gave it a shot. And I practiced a lot myself and had some people who know a bit about obedience help and watch me. My one person who watched me hasn't done obedience in over like 15 years. I was just learning schutzhund, not constant training cause its expensive, I was there to work with his focus he was great with heeling outside and focus outside. So we decide to give it a shot.

@@rottweilerandmustang haters gonna hate. My advice is to hold the leash a little more middle so the dog doesn't have all that extra length to get away from you. You want a little slack in the leash but not so much that it is touching the ground or tripping the dog. On the figure eight, if you slow down a little to keep the dog at your side as you do that right turn, it won't seem as disconnected.
The judge probably scored a little more loosely than other judges I've seen in rally, but the judge obviously felt like your performance warranted that score so that's how it goes. There's been times I thought I totally bombed something and turned out with a decent score. I would never argue with the judge to give me a lower score lol.
Good on you for getting out there despite the environment, mask, and ankle issues. My dog and I did rally a few years back (got to RA) and this weekend, we are doing beg ob novice a. We'll give it a shot because we've been practicing outside primarily and it will be inside. In any case, congrats on your debut and a lovely score. You are making memories with your rott and that is the best of all. 💜
