The V set trains are due to be replaced shortly, they are showing their age but are far more comfortable than the OSCAR sets which run the same route on shorter journeys, and on weekends. Their failing is mainly that they're not disability accessible, with narrow entry doors and vestibules. OSCAR seats are rock hard, and the seat backs too vertical. OSCARS are 3+2 seating, whereas V sets are 2+2. They have insufficient number of toilets.
I don't know how comfortable the seats are in the new D set trains, they haven't yet entered passenger service. But passengers hate the fixed seating style in the new trains, when half of them are forced to travel backward. Some lame excuse was given that reversible seats are heavier. Their entry to service has been further delayed, so they're still gathering dust in various sidings on the electrified network.
