  • If you’re looking to evolve your CAD drafting process and are searching for a software solution to improve your workflow, then this is the right video for you! Join Neil Barman, Architect AIBC, as he demonstrates how you can use the parametric tools in Vectorworks you to create 3D designs while you draw your plans in a 2D view. This drafting workflow allows to create detailed and coordinated plans and to present dynamic views of your drawings all with one software.

Very well-done marketing demo. I hope you're able to do more of these; I'd love to see Vectorworks become more popular in the BIM community.
Perhaps even more effective would be to create a similar video showing the flexibility in quick conceptual massing, which is an effective/quick marketing method, and showcases an area where Vectorworks has an edge over R****.

A great comparison between CAD drafting and 3D design workflow 👍

Great video. All true in my long experience with VW Architect.

Vectorworks has a “heads up display” feature (called the data bar) that allows for direct input of dimensions, coordinates, angles, etc while you are drawing objects.

How powerfull a machine do I need? I got a wounderfull 1X carbon from 2012 :) If it works with that and cost the same as autocad then ee can talk

Whether you can run Vectorworks will depend on your exact X1 carbon model and how much GPU it has, but you can check if your model can run the software by checking our minimum system requirements here:

We offer cost effective and flexible pricing options and you can download a free trial to test the software as well: www.vectorworks.net/en/architect?showModal=trial-form

Is this an old video that’s been reissued or has Vectorworks genuinely just posted a video showing the difference between Vectorworks and AutoCAD in 2022?!
Majority of the industry is now in parametric BIM modelling software such as Revit and ArchiCAD which is easily equivalent and arguably more advanced than vectorworks. Is this just VW admitting that it can’t compete with those platforms and trying to get into the market of older firms that haven’t made the move from AutoCAD?

That’s great that you’re doing BIM! There are actually designers in many parts of the world who have not yet discovered the benefits of BIM. This video is to help show them that they can go from 2D CAD to 3D/BIM and design without limits with Vectorworks.

Who use Autocad ? .. what can vectorworks do that Sketchup, Revit, ArchiCad and DDS or Allplan cannot do that is where this should have gone we are in 2022 ! not 2012!

Believe it or not, there are still many firms still only doing 2D CAD. To find out more about what Vectorworks can do compared to other software, get in touch.
