    My new favorite drummer on TH-cam. You've got it all man, the chops, personality, and unpretentiousness. The foot cam is cool too. Thanx for loving what u do enough to share with the world.

    I started vibing when realising that KKRLKLR or KKRLKRL could be played as a group of 7 :D

    Been shedding this lately and found the 9-note phrase of KKR LKL RLL to be really sweet. Favorite orchestration is with the 1st right on the floor tom, 2nd right on a crash w/ a kick, and all the lefts on the snare. SOUNDS KILLER

    I love your vids. You are a really good teacher, with a unique way of making the lessons. 🤗
    Triplet feel fills are my favourites. Never succeeded making those in a tempo where they srart to live.
    Definately fun and inspiring to follow, and try some stuff out, even though I never reach your level of drumming.
    Keep it up!

    Nice work Josh!! I use to think in patterns of four and six in a linear fill, but this opens up new doors 💪👏👏🥁

      Btw man, what hi-hats are those?

    • @JoshMerhar
      @JoshMerhar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Manic205 Thanks for watching! Those hihats are actually 2 crash cymbals -- on top is an 18" Meinl Byzance Dark Crash, and the bottom is an 18" Zildjian A Custom EFX. Both cymbals have huge, horrible cracks in them and don't really work as crashes anymore. :)

    Unbelievably dope sounding meinl hat, I want one

    • @JoshMerhar
      @JoshMerhar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They're kinda Frankenstein hats. There's an 18" Meinl Dark Crash (with like, a 7" crack) on top, and a Zildjian A Custom EFX with over 50 little cracks on the bottom. They sound super janky on their own, but their powers combined make a pretty interesting pair of hihats!

    Hey man, love your lessons! But what is uppp with the adequately caffeinated fill/lick/thing at 0:28?? You should do a lesson on that! :)

    • @JoshMerhar
      @JoshMerhar  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I already did a lesson on that lick. :) Check out my other video called "Extreme paradiddle-diddles." It goes into much greater depth with applying paradiddle-diddles around the drums.

      Paradiddle-diddles! I actually break down that lick in an older video called "Extreme paradiddle-diddles - building chops." th-cam.com/video/Zk-bzNEOdWg/w-d-xo.html
