    In allllll the tutorials I’ve seen about highlighting, I still couldn’t grasp it. Even though that’s not even what this video is focused on, I FINALLY understand how to do it! Thank you!

    I have never heard of splicing with coloured pencils. I suppose you still have to be good at drawing to get the result. Beautiful artwork

    Hi Rhia, thanks for sharing these invaluable hints and techniques! Your work is really beautiful. What sharpener do you use? You mention having sharp points to get a well-blended surface. This seems to be a debatable subject so I'd love your feedback. Sandi, Cape Town, South Africa🙂

    Super helpful. Thanks so much. I wonder if it will work with pastel pencils? Guess it depends on the color of paper used. ❤❤❤

    Thank you! I just started working with colored pencils and I have much to learn. How long does it take for you to do an animal portrait??

    • @ArtbyRhia
      @ArtbyRhia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This all depends on how big I am drawing the portrait and how much detail is required. This portrait was 10x12" and took me around 30 hours to complete in total

    I use solvent to blend. I will probably need to put more layers over the blended area to use the Slice Knife or can you even use solvent when using these tools?

    Thanks for this Rhia. To be honest I have had little success with the slice tool so far. I tend to scratch the paper rather than lift off pigment. But I shall persevere having watched your video. And I shall invest in the finer tool for small details. Do you find they work equally well on all papers? You are using Fabrico Artistico. What about pastelmat and other artist quality papers?

      I know you left your comment a little bit ago not and may of found your answer but if your using your slice with watercoliur it helps to out down a layer is colourless wax first, remember not to press to hard so you can add your colour on top and then you should be able to slice away the pigment easier and remember to use it lightly and on its side x

      @@claudiadavis118 Thanks. I use coloured pencils, not water colour. A mix of polychromos and luminance. But thank you for your advice.
