Rip to those who dislike this video, and tnx a lot for visiting our Nepal specially Everest base camp, hope you had enjoyed a lot lots of love from Nepal
Wow. Just wow. The cliché, "If Kerry is breathing hard, he must be climbing Everest," remains intact. That's why its a cliché. Two and a half hours, and interesting every step of the way. Thanks for sharing your experience.
you are a workhorse, you've got stamina , porters do carry heavyweights some double their body weight taking into account they live there all their lives, I respect them as well , for yourself being a native westerner , and accomplishing what you do,...i must respect you too sir.
Im so excited....Im now 67 years old and Im finally going to live out the #1 thing on my bucket list since 1970...EBC. !!! This November 2018 my dream comes true. Hoping for great weather, easy flights ( my first international flight...yikes !), No altitude problems and great views. Loved your video...it has me even more excited for this coming November.
Randy, I LOVE seeing posts like this. Congrats on getting to live your dream in the near future. I'm sure you'll appreciate every moment. You'd probably make a better video than me, I'm guessing. CHeers, Kerry
In April 2018 ,I did this trek in 8 days Day1- Kathmandu to lukla and walking to phakding Day2 phakding to namche Day3 namche to tengboche Day4 tengboche to dingboche Day5 dingboche to gorakshep Day6. Gorakshep to kalapatthar and then ebc back to lobuche Day7 loboche to namche bazaar, very tiring Day8-namche to lukla Day9 early morning flight to kathmandu
Beautiful video, thank you so much for taking the time to show others that are not physically able to climb that high how it would be to be in those gorgeous places. I enjoyed it very much.
Thank you very much for taking me on this awesome hike, great commentary, could feel your joy and warmth for the people and the journey in that beautiful place!🏔️ namaste!🤗
I feel honoured to have been able to share your trip! Thanks for posting! Some parts would have been enhanced with a dubbed voice over, where the wind noise stopped us hearing you!
Mountaineering video fan in UK who gets vertigo on first floors. There is much sadness and joy in these films & much respect needing to be felt. I loved your video.
I’m living vicariously through you! This is exactly what I would love to do, just trek to base camp. I would never dream of climbing Everest but would love to see it in person. Glad to know folks actually do this. Thanks for sharing🥳
The Helicopters are usually carrying trekkers suffering from altitude sickness and need to get to hospital. Severe altitude sickness can be fatal and trekkers die up there frequently. I trekked to EBC and other high altitude passes when I was age 60. I have to the Himalayas 4 times. I loved it.
Just wanted to say Thank you for sharing your incredible experiences! My Foster kids absolutely love all of your uploads and I do too!! We feel like we get to travel right along with you!!! Sending love and thanks ❤
Amazing video. Loved every moment of it! Just straight forward blogging, nothing fancy or overly produced, just brining us along with you on your trip. Loved it!
Thanks for sharing! Just got back from EBC 2 weeks ago. 11 days total , 2 days both at Namche and Dingbouche. We were one of the first groups up this year. Felt great the whole way and enjoyed every second ! Met a marathon guy from India doing a round trip ascent/descent in 40 hours lol
Why are people giving this a thumbdown?! this is phenomenal footage, thank you so much for uploading! i never know this was a thing, that people climb to base camp, how beautiful :)
Courtney Pie thumbs down because trying to do this trek as fast as possible without acclimation days is very dangerous. Beautiful trek but should not be rushed without acclimation and after seeing the others turn back to reset shows the dangers. Not worth the risk to do without acclimation and should not be glamourized.
Courtney Heart I agree!! What an AMAZING journey this was!! Regardless if he completed the trail in a faster amount of time than is recommended. That was his choice. He seems both extremely fit, and experienced with endurance training, higher altitudes, mountaineering, etc.. I like you Courtney, am glad he made a video about his journey!
Having done this trek myself and talking to a helicopter rescue pilot ( who plucks people off everest and the valley leading up to it) doing this trek in 7 days is asking for trouble. To do it safely you need to (at the very least) take 2 days aclimatising on the way up to reduce the risk of developing AMS. Our Pilot suggested that even the 11 day treks are not long enough - and judging by the continuous helicopters up and down the valley lots of people get sick. As they say on Jackass - Dont try this at home kids
most of those helicopters going up are supplying base camp only, you'll find its better to take your time but most people traditionally take nine days and are forced by there lead sherpas to go at a good pace, Ive found if you hydrate well and wrap up warm.
Totally agree! Even 11-12 days is too fast for many people to be safe! 7 is just.....lucky! Certainly not advisable, for basic safety reasons, for anybody!
@@teodelfuego And if not, get a porter to carry your pack. No guide needed really and it's not that hard a trek when you're packless... I saw many a grizzled grey nomad go up with the porter basically carrying man and bag
Great documentary, best I've seen. You hit the nail on the head with this video. The Sherpa's - utmost respect to them guys, the loads they carry, always smiling, helpful and religious people. The ladies in the hotels never 'rip of' the tourists.5 bucks for a night's stay. You can't beat that. Long live Nepal, may the people be happy and free from outside political interference. Good luck Kerry, in your future adventures.
I was there in 2011. Right around the same time. Monsoon was coming and a bunch of the trek was in clouds. But it cleared in time to climb Kalapathar and get a great view of Everest. I remember the yaks, porters, the clink of Rock cutting!! And after a long time in the clouds, they cleared and Bam! There were mountains that made the Rockies look like foothills. Amazing place. Hope to go back one day. Great Video. Thank you!!
I did this in 7 years ago by myself in aug 1. Lukla to Namche 2. Namche to Tengboche 3.Tengboche to Pheriche 4. Periche to lobuche 5.Lob to Shep to EBC to Pheriche 6. Pheriche to Phakding 7. Phakding to lukla Took own pack was approx 15kgs, no guides, some days were 14 hours walking etc. Its doable depending on your love for Diamox. I didnt have any issues up or down in that tie but I met a few who did.
Start to finish, step by step , over rocky paths and funky suspension bridges to stone built huts along the mountain trail, I felt like I was right there alongside. Exceptional job, quite remarkable. Thank you.
I did highest village in world on my royal enfield in india will try this now EBC is only 700 m above it no problem will try to complete it in 7 days this October 19 Thanks for your video it is very helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I felt like I was with you, Kerry, to Base Camp, then back. You described everything in detail and the photography was amazing. You really have a flair for doing videos. I hope there are more I can watch.
Linda, how wonderful that you felt like you were along on the trip. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks for the comment. There are plenty more. You might like the Kilimanjaro one, too. th-cam.com/video/dBICNW490CE/w-d-xo.html
I'm half way through this video and I'm definitely going to stay for the next half. This guy is so cool, I wish I was taking this amazing journey with him.
Watch every superb minute of this, love the way you talk to everyone, kinda feel like we are tagging along, helping you absorb the bumps to pay for the privilege of watching your excellent film.
Great video. I followed part of your route in 2004; the checkpoints and bureaucracy were new but many of the views were familiar. Thanks for sharing your journey for its has brought back memories of a magical trip. Namaste 🙏
I'd never be able to do this but I am fascinated by the beauty of it all. If I were to do this, you sir is who. I'd like as my guide. Your spirit is truly amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Namaste!!!
Kerry, this was fantastic! I felt like I was with you the entire time. Lukla airport takeoff and landing looks horrific. Not sure I would make it through that. But I am adding EBC to my bucket list. Wonderful video.
Kerry, I’ve been watching your videos for the last few weeks. I have to say, your sense of adventure is infectious. When you take time to see the flowers and the waterfalls. Or in your other vids the frogs and taking time to point out the trails. I’m currently training for an100km and I can assure you while out training I think of your calm nature and sense of adventure and it brings more joy to my running. Thanks for putting together these videos. You’re a legend mate. Matty from South Australia - Adelaide
Matty, appreciate you watching and giving a thumbs up. If it is at all helpful for your own efforts on the 100K you are doing, I'm glad. Good luck on that. Cheers Kerry
Excellent video, lengthy, lots of actual foot path video, lots of great scenery, lots of great commentary. It would have been interesting to see what you were eating at the Tea Houses. Appreciate your quick summary of the various expenses that you mentioned at the end of your trip. To me the best shot was Mari doing a shoulder stand on her husband (while standing on the suspension bridge). At the beginning of the video you did not mention your physical training background, or the physical background of your climbing partners. As the video progressed it became very apparent that you had an extensive physical fitness background. The fact that Mari became ill when you did not take the recommended acclimatization stops leads me to believe that her group was not as physically fit as yourself. Regardless, the video was well done, very informative, enjoyable to watch, had beautiful videography, and was thoroughly entertaining.
I’ve watched this video three times now and it just keeps getting better every time. By far the best Everest base camp trek video on the Internet. Really enjoy your content and you’ve inspired me to push myself further in my own physical endeavors. I hope to one day be able to make this trek and will be thinking about this video as motivation until I get there!!!
Kerry, you are an inspiration! If I was doing that same trip and all my group decided to go down, I would've than exactly what you did...push on alone! Life experiences must not sucumb to momentary weaknesses, you push through them and get the everlasting rewards. Your group was visibly not up to par, but like driven minded people that you are, and I include myself in that category, we collect those rewards and cherish them as a primary goal. It's all in the mind and in the want to do it!...You portrait that image in your videos, clearly. Kudos to you, sir. Greetings from a Portuguese.
The EBC - track is on bucket list. I haven't found any video out there like yours showing so many aspects, details and the diverse beauty of this adventure. Thank you so much for sharing your video and for all the efforts you put into it - I will definitly watch it over and over again. Thanks !!!!
Loved this video, was inspiring, I will visit Nepal after seeing the beauty showcased in this video... Ill skip the 7 day basecamp trek and take it slow with no expectations tho, I am not made out of solid steel like you lol!
Totally agree this is an awesome video and as close as you could get to Base Camp on your computer! And yeah the route and surroundings look obvious enough to navigate by yourself if you have a good map, no need for a guide even for a first timer. The only thing you need is an excellent fitness level.
Sir, you are a beautiful soul with a bit of Sherpa blood & Yak lungs! Wow, amazing & breathtaking adventure, thank you kindly for taking us with you 🙏🏼❤️ -Namaste
Thoroughly enjoyed your video. It was awesome to see your journey, and one that I will never take, but got to live vicariously through you. I watched this from start to finish and it just flew by, and was so sad when it was over. I could have watched for another 2 hours. Thank you for sharing this aspect of Everest. Oh and advice...get a wind sock...LOL
I did this in 2003. I’m amazed at how much development there is now. I was 41 and traveling alone. I met some Aussies, an Italian woman and a guy from Texas in the Lukla airport. We formed an impromptu trekking team. The two Aussies had porters, the rest did not. After Periche, I suffered symptoms of dehydration and spent a night in Periche alone rehydrating. I then made it to the top of Kala Patar and ran into my group on the way back. I’m typing from memory so, hopefully, I’ve remembered the place names correctly. The group went to EBC. I opted for Kala Patar. This was a magical experience
Definitely something I will also remember for the rest of my life. The overlook you opted for certainly is the stellar choice for views - and more elevation, to boot.
Watched several videos on Mount Everest but this one gave detailed visibility on the EBC trek. I am excited and feel like i should do this with my family and friends.
I took three days to complete to watch this video, I love this video very much and so vividly you described every details and hats off to your energy level, confidence and courage.
This was really awesome to watch! You are really fit and you are such a friendly person, but in such a hurry! I made this walk in 1991, took a bus from Kathmandu to Jiri, walked to EBC, walked back to Lukla en took a (very small) plane back to Kathmandu. I think we were there for 3 weeks. It was before internet, so in Kathmandu we had to get a trekking permit etc, everything was at a slower pace i think. But i can tell by your video that you enjoyed it every second and it was beautiful to see all those places again. Thank you for sharing!
Kerry, thanks for the awesome documentary of your experiences! I want to do the same next summer with my teenaged kids. My wife said she would go only if a Yak would carry her - I told her that might get a bit hairy ha!
Thank you for recording and sharing your your journey. So lovely watch while comfy under my duvet !! 😊 What a wonderful experience. I watch so many similar walks and anything and everything on Everest. A truly awesome place in the true sense of the word. I wouldn't be able to acclimatise so more than happy to learn from films like your. You provided so much help and advice for those seriously thinking of a trek in the area. Thanks again and wish you well for more adventures NAMASTE 💖
1:48:30 I'm surrounded by people day in day out and can't find a girlfriend... this guy finds a cute, interesting and totally cool chic out in the middle of nowhere atop a freaking mountain!😂....what an AMAZING journey! Thank you for bringing us along, such an amazing experience
Albert Corrales I’m sure if he wasn’t married he wouldn’t have left that cute woman’s side. I know I wouldn’t have unless she made it clear she don’t like me. But I think she liked him. That could be from the buzz she had though a natural high of course.
The guys friends are beat 3/4 of the hike and this guys going ahead solo...on top of that wants to run a marathon after!! haha this guy is a machine. I was expecting something different but the video was actually really interesting. Those porters are something else! Huge respect to those guys.
Fantastic documentary. It’s been on my bucket list since the 1990s....to do this trek. Had seriously considered training for the full climb but decided against that, years ago. This trek is still within the realm of possibility, though. Have always enjoyed endurance sports, but as I’ve gotten a lot older, things have gotten much more conservative for me. At 68, I’m still very active, outside. Thanks so much for sharing the intimate experiences and awesome footage of what it takes to do this trek....I really enjoyed it.
I did Not finish the film yet, but I want to thank you for the beautiful pictures of the trail. Never seen this beautiful landscape in another EBC documentation. Thanks a lot!! I lately began to watch your videos and enjoyed every single one of them.
I had to head back to Pangbouche to drop off my boyfriend and then headed up solo with our guide to climb Kalapathar since he felt better. Boyfriend got sick in Loboche and we had to get him down. Then he had to be evacuated on a helicopter! I went with him so I missed hiking down. But the ride from Pangboche was amazing. Adventure!!!!
Awesome video as usual, Kerry. Absolutely beautiful stuff. I'm consistently amazed at how you're able to keep such a sunny disposition even in the midst of suffering through extreme physical exertion.. I watched your moab 240 video yesterday and I think if someone picked a random point in that video and started watching, they wouldn't know whether you were 150 miles in, or whether you had just begun. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your incredible adventures.
Those are very kind words. Thank you so much for your feedback. I think probably people Might be able to tell where I was in the race based on how much my whiskers had grown out since the start.
This was one of the best videos I've had the joy of watching on TH-cam. Thanks so much for uploading your journey.. for anyone unable to make the same trip, whether financially or other reasons, this is an incredible experience. I can only imagine how it must have felt for you to be there. I'm. So. Jealous. Namaste.
Hi Kerry, great video! Watched intently. That was a bucket list item that I probably won't get to. Not sure if you knew but the man you spoke with on the way to EBC was Ang Tsering Sherpa, a legend in the Himalaya. He was the owner of Asian Trekking the very base camp you were in at EBC, who got 18 to the summit. Tragically, he died in a helicopter accident this past February, RIP. Congrats on this superb documentary. Rick, from the Ottawa area.
When I met the sherpa, it was clear he had a lot of experience and was a beautiful soul. Afterwards, I was informed of his noteworthy achievements. I'm so sorry to hear of his demise. Thank you so much for your feedback
The most beautiful scenery. It is so mystical. Not climbing up Mount Everest but to walk there like you did is my dream. Greetings from Germany and thanks for sharing this amazing video. Take care! :)
A phenomenal video. Thanks for taking us on this Epic Adventure, where many of us can only go virtually. If it hasn't been said before...Your videos ROCK...
You would be a great guide for newbie/novice acclimation. Great knowledge and attitude. Most of these vids I've seen there is very little to no team meetings with climbers, which is essential for so many reasons. You would be an inspiration to those people also on what to expect when climbing, and when to bow out before its too late. I enjoy listening to you. I understand as the altitude increases, it feels like your breathing through a straw while on a treadmill, even with O2. I don't think I would attempt the death zone if I felt disorientated in any way. And i'm not a climber. That one dude on everest who they left for dead, but survived -25 overnight was amazing. There must have been devine intervention for climbers to find him the next day and help him.
I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for taking us along. I admire everyone that get out there and do it. I know I could never do anything like that. Thanks again
3:05 well thanks so much for this incredible footage coming This is the type of stuff you cannot see unless you do it (and I definitely never will with my disabilities!) thank you a million for sharing the footage.
That was epic! I don't imagine that I'll ever get to experience that in reality but you sure did a great job taking us along with you, I felt it with you, smelt it with you and loved every minute. Thank you for all your great videos, I love the Canyons too. Staying on your shoulder :)

Same here and I did it in 7 days
Great vid and a greater narrative. I'll be in Nepal on March, cant wait for its amazing scenery.
Not a team player then, all for yourself, they would be better off without you then…
Amazing! Thank you for taking us along!
The EBC - track is on bucket list. I haven't found any video out there like yours showing so many aspects, details and the diverse beauty of this adventure. Thank you so much for sharing your video and for all the efforts you put into it - I will definitly watch it over and over again. Thanks !!!!
wow, i watched the whole things over 2 days, i
I cant believe how good it was.
Loved this video, was inspiring, I will visit Nepal after seeing the beauty showcased in this video... Ill skip the 7 day basecamp trek and take it slow with no expectations tho, I am not made out of solid steel like you lol!
I love the people there. Example for all of humanity on how to be a good human. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you ma'am that's so kind of you to notice and comment.. you're welcome to visit here...
Amazing video, amazing journey. I like that it is not edited very much. You are very inspiring. Greetings from Germany.
Hes emotional all of a sudden plot changed- chimpange with a teapot as he see- Human mind unravels simultaneously to narration of wonder lost- life..
I am truly touched by your words. It would be so gratifying to be able to take a trip like this with someone who appreciates it like you do.
She just likes " the idea of it" from the comfort of her own home...
How lovely! Thanks for taking us up. :-)
Absolutely AHHHHMAZING!! Whew! I’m almost in tears.. and yes actually felt them goosebumps! Wow! Thank YOU!
What did actually made you cry from here?? Why you was almost in tears 😭
It is an amazing experience to share with people. I do recommend it.
Wow! What a superb blog. Loved ur documentary of EBC, Nepal. :) Love from Nepal.
I took three days to complete to watch this video, I love this video very much and so vividly you described every details and hats off to your energy level, confidence and courage.
Thanks Souresh. I appreciate you taking time to comment.
This is brilliant, totally absorbed with your cool calm narration. Amazing footage too. Thanks for sharing👍👍👍
Your videos continue to be a source of inspiration for me sir! Thank you and keep killing it in Moab!
MrBordello I lived in Moab.
Love Moab too. Camped there(tent) four times. First time 1984, last time 2002. Oldtimer from Shropshire in UK.
What a wonderful experience.

I'm surrounded by people day in day out and can't find a girlfriend... this guy finds a cute, interesting and totally cool chic out in the middle of nowhere atop a freaking mountain!😂....what an AMAZING journey!
I‘m in Far Cry 4 mode. Super documentary. Thank you 🙏🏽
The guys friends are beat 3/4 of the hike and this guys going ahead solo...on top of that wants to run a marathon after!! haha this guy is a machine. I was expecting something different but the video was actually really interesting. Those porters are something else! Huge respect to those guys.
Incredible energy.... heading out on the same trek to EBC this year at 51... inspired... great vlog!
amazing video. sat through the entire 2.5 hours. I enjoyed it as much as you do
Awesome adventure, and well documented. My hat is off to you.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I lived there for 18 years but never been even close to Mount Everest. Watched entire video enjoyed a lot. Thanks for sharing.
It is a journey to get up there, for sure. Nepal is such a beautiful country. Glad you could see it through the video at least.
Godbless you sir watching from japan 🇯🇵 👍👍❤️❤️❤️🌹🌹🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
I can't believe you met Ang! He's an ifit instructor that has an Everast workout series. Great video!!
Great Aventur... congratulation... I like Himalayas Nepal and your people...
Gretting from Chile.
This was one of the best videos I've had the joy of watching on TH-cam. Thanks so much for uploading your journey.. for anyone unable to make the same trip, whether financially or other reasons, this is an incredible experience. I can only imagine how it must have felt for you to be there. I'm. So. Jealous. Namaste.
This is the type of feedback that makes the effort of doing these videos worthwhile. Thanks.
@@KerryWard your response made my night, man. Thanks so much. It's like it made it even more real, if that makes any sense.
@@KerryWard Quite welcome.
First time viewer. Excellent. Thank you for giving such respect to the Sherpas and locals.
The most beautiful scenery. It is so mystical. Not climbing up Mount Everest but to walk there like you did is my dream.
Greetings from Germany and thanks for sharing this amazing video. Take care! :)
Thank you for allowing me to join you in this gorgeous walking tour. What a magical experience.
So glad you were able to enjoy it. It was indeed magical.
Daniel, Thanks for the kudos. I think you talking about Beck Weathers who survived the 1996 disasters on Everest. It can be a brutal place, I'm sure.
Big change, I did this same trip in 1979....Wow what a difference.... great video
I'll bet it has changed radically since then.
I just subscribed to your channel. Thank you for taking us along. I admire everyone that get out there and do it. I know I could never do anything like that. Thanks again
Seeing Mt Everest would be awesome. I have no desire to climb it, but to go to Base Camp, and see it would be fantastic
3:05 well thanks so much for this incredible footage coming This is the type of stuff you cannot see unless you do it (and I definitely never will with my disabilities!) thank you a million for sharing the footage.
3:56 nuts! Knuckle gripper
That was epic! I don't imagine that I'll ever get to experience that in reality but you sure did a great job taking us along with you, I felt it with you, smelt it with you and loved every minute. Thank you for all your great videos, I love the Canyons too. Staying on your shoulder :)
Vicki, you can do it!
