Just wanted to say THANK YOU all so much for your love and comments on this video!! It makes me so happy to see so many in my age bracket! I feel like the outsider sometimes now on youtube, so thanks for letting me know there's more of the 35+ crowd!!!! xoxoxoxo
Marlena Stell I’m not 35+ yet but I just wanted to say I am also here for this content! I think it’s an area of the beauty community that really needs more videos and products
Been watching you for 10 years (at least)! You were the first you tuber I subscribed to! Still remember one of the videos where you used Wedge eyeshadow to contour. Still a staple in my makeup kit!! I became a makeup artist a few years later at the age of 35. I thought I was too old to start at that age. But I’m so glad I did! Living my dream!! I feel like I’ve grown up with you and I hope you never stop making videos for us! You’re amazing!!
So nice to connect with ppl like this... the thing here is that 20 year olds don’t have the problems we have, and they can use almost any thing and is gonna look good. For us is a lot harder and we all know the reasons...lol.. Marlena I love u r content, keep doing what u started no matter what...😘😘😘
Finally! A real makeup video for real woman. I’m so sad the community only celebrates younger customers. It’s horrid. I wish we could make fab and forty big!
I’m 43 and fabulous! We are here watching TH-cam and need the attention! So thank you! Cerve makes a gel oil that’s awesome! Flower Beauty Light Illusion is beautiful too and affordable
Thank you as I hit my late 30s I was wearing less and less makeup because I only knew how I used to do my foundation and no matter what I did I turned out dry or cakey looking and the fine lines ..i might as well have gotten a magic marker and drew them on! 😆 I litterally in the last week started playing around with oil under the foundation..and it was working. So that mixed w this video is GOLDEN! Best advice..(besides priming skin) no, or minimal powder!! Thanks again.
I’m not 40 yet- but I am 35- and when I turned 35 I started noticing a difference in how my foundation/concealer was applying. I finally retired my matte foundation this year. Thank you for doing this- it was HUGELY helpful. I love watching make up tutorials but most of them are 10 years younger than me and a lot of times what works for them won’t work for me.. SO thank you for doing this tutorial for those of us with a little more life experience! Mixing the oil into my foundation is such a great tip- can’t wait to try it!!
Yes, especially when those 20 something year olds are packing on the concealer like there's no tomorrow!! We can pack it on like that when we're in our 40s.
I agree. Hydration is everything! I can't really do the oils as my skin winds up protesting at some point, but hydrating it gives me amazing results. I've also noticed a little foundation will go a long way now... which was not really the case some years back. Interesting indeed. So glad you posted this! I think the forties, fifties and sixties age groups are completely overlooked when it comes to make-up application or proper skin care. We're either bombarded with anti-aging everything or not taken into consideration whatsoever for beauty techniques/applications/color schemes/etc. Hair and skin change over time so why not shift the focus a little to make sure club fabulous is feeling their finest when it comes to sustaining beauty and maybe a little youth? There's a big market here just waiting to get tapped into (hint hint) lol Thanks again Marlene. This video pumped me up to turn 44 in a few days 🙂 xx
55 and fabulous!! I have oilier skin so I'm cherry-picking these suggestions. I love the look of dewy skin but that gets downright greasy on me. So I'm matte, big time, but I use highlighter judiciously and make it appear like I have dewy skin. Thanks for the tips, Marlena! You look fabulous, doesn't matter if you're 20 or 80, you rock in my book!!!
66 in Oct 2019 and damn proud of it. Been a "make up geek" since I was around 13. Seen a lot come and go and I'm still playing in the paint, just not the same way I did in preceding decades. Skin care is paramount. After that, play in the paint. Just don't get frozen in time to the days of your 20 - 30. Adapt to new trends but don't try to be 29 forever. Use color, shine, and shimmer but with a light hand. I have a LOT of MUG and love it all. Look forward to many more years with you and MUG.
Wet N Wild, Milani (LOVE this one!), Fit Me Dewy, True Match (with a teeny bit of oil mixed in), & the newest Physicians Formula foundation are a good start. Thataylaa (a yter) has dry skin, and does Foundation Fridays. Check her out.
zoramystic2ify try healthy elixir, I think it is a name for it, from Physician formula. It is so beautiful on my oily 43 y/o skin. It isn’t mate at all
Hourglass & NARS both have wonderful stick foundations for dryer and aging skin such as myself. I live in an extremely dry cold climate and I’m 49 yrs old and these are my life savers. In the summertime I love compact foundations such as the L’Oréal & Laneige ones. I use such a wee amount of powder but those Hourglass ambient powders are heaven to set your entire face with and they give such a fabulous glow! The Becca Firstlight & Backlight primers are also so beautiful as a primer after skincare but before foundation. Skincare is so important to get that fresh skin appearance!
Mrs Fabulous Marlena . I'm going to be 38 and I love watching your videos. I have watched your videos for years and you are so sweet and genuine and I truly appreciate your beauty knowledge and your humility. Thank you thank you thank you for continuing to be a refreshing voice and face in the beauty community.
Marlena I absolutely enjoy watching your videos. They are filled with practical information, advice and techniques, and no BS. Your STRONG CHARACTER and professional training shines through in each one. Thank you
I loved your video. I’m 46 and it’s so nice to see these videos. You had some great advice that I’m looking forward to trying. What you said about matte foundations and 40+ skin makes sense. Thanks again and I love how upbeat and positive you are. Keep the videos coming!! 💋
I’ve used the Dior Airflash for years and love it! The directions do say to spray it on your application tool first then apply to the face to avoid overspray on the hairline. I had one of their first gen kabuki brushes and they have really improved that brush over time! That foundation will always be in my arsenal! Glad to see it being used on YT!
I’m 42, fit and fabulous as of last week! Thank you so much for making this video. Really good advice and I cant wait to try it. I was afraid of dewy but it makes perfect sense now because this winter is making my skin very dry. I am excited to see future videos geared to us fabulous ladies!!
I’m 41, flirty and fabulous! I make sure to stay up on my derma e radiant glow facial oil. Nars natural radiant is my go to foundation. Hourglass powder products are life and I’m never without my Mac fix plus and milani make it dewy setting spray!
Aging is a beautiful thing! It's better than the alternative. There's no shame in getting older. Thank you for the great tips. I appreciate you and your time 😘
OMG. I used to follow your YT vids 10ish years ago, figured out my preferred method, now in my 40s, I came back to find you again with amazing skills and recommendations, just under your name. ☺️☺️☺️ Thank you for continuing to share your knowledge and talent!
Thank you so much for all of your videos. I have been a fan for years and just wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed you tutorials and your products. Your eyeshadows are amazing and your brushes are my favorite. No shedding and super soft. Thanks again for all the hard work you've done over the years.
I love that you are doing videos for women over 40 as I'm 46 & they are hard to find in vids. Everything seems to be for the +20's & early 30's. So thank you 😊
Marlena thank you again for teaching me everything, if it wasn’t for your Masterclass and the book I would have never figured out how to do my eyeshadow. This video is the best I’ve seen for fabulous foundation. Thank you
Just discovered this video but wanted to say thank you for highlighting the DIOR air flash. I’ve been using it for years and it’s so great. No one ever talks about it!
I’m not even close to 40 but I honestly enjoyed this video so much. This is the type of content we as learners and subscribers need. Thank you so much ❤️
Love your outlook on getting to 40. :) 40 will be here before I know it! Why does our society try to make us feel embarrassed about aging? We should be proud and supportive of each other no matter what age we are! 🧡🧡🧡
Thank you Marlena. Great video. Not a lot of youtubers actually post videos for 40s women. I waited for something like this. Please continue doing such videos for eyes, skin care, thanks. 😍
I am 44 and currently in love with MAC Face and Body lately. It is light and wonderful. I have to mix in the white to shade 1 to make it perfect for me, and I have found that my other foundations benefit from mixing in that white to make those better for me.
Done this for years since 80s mix makeup for different uses!!! We didn’t have all the makeup goodies there is now. That sadly many complain about. Now that was makeup skills using different makeup products for different uses !! Utilize
Just turned 38 last week, THANK YOU FOR THIS!! Working at Sephora, all of my coworkers with the exception of three of us are all well under 30. This will be amazing to pass along to my clients!
i am 40 and a follower of yours since 2011 i think so thank you for this tuto , you just prouved me right i use those tips a lot , because i have an excellent teacher since years, thank you marlena.
I’m 50 and Fantastic! 💋😍 I’ve always believed, age is how you feel, inside and out. I literally get people telling all the time, I look like I’m in my 30’s. I live a vegan lifestyle, I’m physically active everyday, I take the time to pamper myself, even when I’m feeling really low. I really enjoy when TH-cam gals like yourself, put tips out there for the ones that paved the way in beauty. We just don’t make videos. Lol! Thanks for sharing!
This is exactly the type of tutorial I was hoping to find. Thank you for the clear instructions and demonstration. My son has always been a little dry, but since I passed 40 a few years ago, I feel like I look even drier than I am. Your video is just what I needed.
Thank you Marlena. My name is Reem, I follow you from Egypt, not enough words can describe how amazing you are on videos, especially this one. I am 43 years old and I needed these tips so much and I will wait for the " dark circles video. Much love :)
It's so nice seeing things directed more towards my age group, I am 42. It would be wonderful to see more of these things! Maybe eye looks as well because as we get older those super shimmers can be very tricky to get right.
I know why alot of people don't use that spray foundation...because it's $64! For anyone who doesn't have alot of disposable income, or any (like me), hit up the Loreal Pro Glow of Physicians Formula The Healthy foundation.
@Marlena The Dior airflash is my holy grail foundation. I love it & if you spray directly on to your beauty blender it lasts much longer. I’ve never found a better formula for my dehydrated skin & we don’t have Sephora here in the U.K. to try their own brand : ( not that I’d risk cheating on my Dior anyway, especially as it has a perfect shade for pure porcelain skin too. Heaven in a can, it’s so worth the money if you can stretch to it x
Sheila Blake I have that same problem too, I’m always dehydrated and I try to keep up with my water intake and good hydration products but I still fall short. And yes the Dior air flush is expensive so I only use it for very special ocasiones. But I’m looking for something else I’m tired of the doble ware from esté lauded which is 20 US dlls less then Dior.
I just turned 40 and fabulous on the 6th, lol! I totally understand how you feel about being an outsider on TH-cam. It's hard to find many 40 and fabulous channels. I've seriously been considering starting a channel for that very reason. I feel a lot of people our age aren't always comfortable taking skin care and makeup advise from a 20 year old with perfect skin...at least not without rolling our eyes into the back of our head, lol! Thanks for the video!
Marlena this was wonderful tips for us fabulous and forty! I have tried a few of those tips and have always believed in giving the moisture to my skin. I have a few favorite drugstore foundations I enjoy. Love the new physician formula foundation and the new wet m wild cushion foundation. My favorite high end is Clinique beyond perfecting foundation. These work amazingly on my combination skin.
54 and NEVER go outside without my face done. I love wearing makeup and truly enjoy watching your videos and your makeup geek products. Keep on, keepin' on!!!
I don’t know how I hadn’t watched your videos until now!!! Even though my skin is oily & I don’t have an issue with dryness at all, I appreciate seeing tutorials from someone my age!!!! I turned 39 in April (omg that’s my first time typing that “out loud”) and I was so happy I saw the title of this video. Thank you!! 🤗💕
Awesome tips. Turned 40 today and lately I have noticed that my skin is more dry and my makeup just doesn’t look the same anymore. I’ll for sure try some of the techniques and products you suggested. Thanks!
Hey I am 22 but I really enjoyed this video, how honest and real you is lovely. Been a subscriber for year and years glad you are still being the real you 😘😘
I know I'm super late on your channel. However, I'm soon to be 40 in September, and I am African 🇪🇹🇳🇬. I had no idea how to apply makeup or find my shade. I have since discovered my tone, and now I know how to apply it. You are gorgeous, and you make up looks so good. Thank you 🙇🏾.
I turned turn 40 less than two months ago. I have skin that's oilier in the summer and drier in the winter. After having combo/oily skin most of my life, I'm now learning to deal with dry skin. This is very helpful.
Im 44 and no longer need powder or lots of concealer which Ive been doing for years until I realized my face was looking old and tired. Your skin changes but its not a bad thing! Thanks, Marlena.
I just don't understand why someone would give a thumbs down. 🤷♀️ I however enjoyed this video. I would love to see all the tips and tricks for 40 and fabulous. As I am 41, and having such a hard time with what to buy, how to apply it. When I was younger...it was so easy. Now its like a science class...that I don't get. Thank you for this tip, and I'm looking forward to more.
The Maybelline Dream Satin foundation with serum combined with Age Rewind concealer and set with Fit Me loose powder us my drugstore go to. Also the Physicians Formula Healthy foundation works nice. These do not settle into my fine lines. 49 years old, and still love my makeup.
Thank you so much for this. I need that lip stick ASAP. I am 37 and my skin has changed so much the last couple years. I appreciate these kind of videos so much. Thank you
66 and absolutely FABULOUS 😀👍👍👍👍👍. Good skincare, and priming when applying makeup are key elements. Oh do I remember my 40's, then I blinked and the 60's jumped in 😂😂. Embracing and loving every decade. 😘😘😘😘
Thank you so much for this video, cuz that's one of the things that kind of keeps me from watching a lot of TH-cam videos and creating videos because I don't think there is an area. So thank you for the options. Kinda is motivating me to make videos instead of just watching and supporting others who really don't appreciate it sometimes. Keep doing your thing honey :-)
Marlena, I have been following you for a long time and I have to say I have learned a lot from you over the years about makeup that I can do a full face makeup for myself :-) you are simply the best and thank you so much♥️🤗😘happy Holidays and Merry early Christmas 🎄
I will be 43 in January! I thought I would throw in my favorite drug store foundation and that is the Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation. I love this one so much. It looks so beautiful on my skin. I do set it a little and if I do it last for my entire 12 hour shift at work without any issues.
I'll be 50 in January, and I can't believe it, but I'm excited. I just bought the Physicians Formula foundation; they finally extended their shades, and I love it!
Marlena thanks for this video!!! I am fabulous 55, and due to medical condition I need to use supplementary oxygen, sooo, my skin is not dry, is ultra dry. My question is... I follow all your tips, but, if do not use little bit of setting powder I transfer the makeup to my clothes or if I hug someone, my makeup goes to their clothes. I use good setting sprays, like Urban D... still I transfer the makeup!!! Could you make a video on this? Thanks!! Saludos mexicanos!
Yes!!! How do we stop make up from transferring to someone if we huge them. I have this happen and its embarrassing. Also I turn oily as the day goes on and it feels like I need to control that with powder. But I am 53 and I have wrinkles pretty bad on my forehead. What should I do???
Great suggestion! I'm so sick of seeing foundation on my phone after I've spoken on it. I've tried Fenty, Clinique and Estee Lauder and have experienced this problem with all of them.
If face makeup is transfering that easily theres a good chance you're using too much product. Try using half the amount of product you usually use and slowly build up the amount if you absolutely need it. Keeping in mind foundation is only meant to even skin tone and cover minor blemishes. Another issue could be not waiting long enough after you apply foundation for it to set. It also helps to lightly blot inbetween steps to absorb the silicones and what-not from the products.
Thank you Marlena, I love when you do base type videos. Thank you for sharing your tips. Love this video. I've tried the Dior foundation, I would spray it on the back on the hand if I were you, and then use the beauty blender, works very well for me. Have a beautiful day.
I'll be 39 next month. :) I can't wait! I love that the concealer you put under the eyes was literally only a shade lighter. I'm tired of seeing super light under eyes!
I turned 40 in Jan and loving it. Also agree that this age bracket is not well represented on social media. Unfortunately, brands only want to work with the young 20 something beauty bloggers regardless of their followers' age demographics and spending power. At least that's the situation in India and it's so frustrating and disheartening.
Just wanted to say THANK YOU all so much for your love and comments on this video!! It makes me so happy to see so many in my age bracket! I feel like the outsider sometimes now on youtube, so thanks for letting me know there's more of the 35+ crowd!!!! xoxoxoxo

I turned 40 this year and I can not believe I’m 40 😳how did this happen 😂 Here’s to women celebrating women, we are fabulous whatever our age. 😘
I’m 43 and fabulous! We are here watching TH-cam and need the attention! So thank you! Cerve makes a gel oil that’s awesome! Flower Beauty Light Illusion is beautiful too and affordable
I agree! I'm glad to see so many others in my age bracket watching youtube since it's SO oversaturated with teen-25 crowd. I got you!
We sure are here and need attention! You got that right!
I'm 45! I love TH-cam but it's so hard to find someone in the late 30's and up.
Heidi Ledford Im 41 and light illusion iS my drugstore go to. Nars natural radiant is my go to foundation
48 here and the ONLY reason I powder is because I can’t stand tacky skin. I don’t like powder on my skin though....
It's not "getting older." It's now called "Leveling Up." I am Level 38.
Thank you for attending my TedTalk.
Hunter Boyle 💛💛💛 that!
Oh my god that’s brilliant. Stealing it, I’m levelling up to 36 in January
Yes girl, Level 38 right here!
😳 this is genius...sorcery even! I’m level 37 for one more month.
Best.... Response... Ever! Im level 36 btw

Diane Welzel same here. I have to put down matte then put back the glow with highlighter.

If you have dry skin, L’Oréal pro glow, lumi cushion or lumi true match are all AMAZING foundations. I reach for them over my high end foundations.

Max fix plus is my go too! It makes skin look so flawless and sets without making skin look dry like some of the powders do!
Yes 40 here 🙌🏼 and I love Nars Radiant and Hour Glass setting powder.
Do you use both setting sprays or one or the other? I’m looking for a dupe for fix +!
Natural radiant makes me look dry af and accentuates my texture and pores. :(

I really enjoy when TH-cam gals like yourself, put tips out there for the ones that paved the way in beauty. We just don’t make videos. Lol! Thanks for sharing!
Omg thank you!! Yes yes! You’re so AWesome as always Marlena!!
I am in my thirties now, but I really LOVE & ADORE this tutorial! Love you Marlena, you make every woman feel beautiful! ❤❤❤❤
This is exactly the type of tutorial I was hoping to find. Thank you for the clear instructions and demonstration. My son has always been a little dry, but since I passed 40 a few years ago, I feel like I look even drier than I am. Your video is just what I needed.
I would love to see an updated in depth basic eyeshadow tutorial for 35+ or any eyes really!! Love your kind heart!!
Thank you Marlena. My name is Reem, I follow you from Egypt, not enough words can describe how amazing you are on videos, especially this one. I am 43 years old and I needed these tips so much and I will wait for the " dark circles video. Much love :)
Love this! I am 41 and have been using more cream products as of late and been loving it. Thank you for this video/tutorial! Stay gorgeous, Marlena!
PLEASE do more of these 40 + fab videos! I loved this!
So happy you shared this. i hit 42 a month ago i swear i just got outta high school, time is flying by. fab 40's i'm here for it Marlena♥
Love this video! I am 44 and wow has my skin changed over the past few years!!!
Marlena, Thank God you are here for us MORE FABULOUS WOMEN! Love some of the younger youtubers but they don't KNOW OUR STRUGGLES!!
That's why I don't use it much anymore either- it looks beautiful but it doesn't last but like 15 times and for the price- OUCH
I really like the sephora brand one and it is only $28 if you wanted to try a spray one 😀
Such an amazing video! So so helpful for this 28 year old with VERY dry skin! Love you!! Xoxo 😘💄
I absolutely loved this video! I think Marlena’s laugh is so sweet!! 💕
I am 42 and I adore the Flower Beauty Illuminating foundation if anyone is looking for a drugstore option! LOVE this video Marlena!
Im 48 and fabulous and tbis is GREAT!!! Thanks Marlena! ❤❤❤
You are the sweetest TH-camr! Blessings to you and your family ❤️
I just don't understand why someone would give a thumbs down. 🤷♀️
I however enjoyed this video. I would love to see all the tips and tricks for 40 and fabulous. As I am 41, and having such a hard time with what to buy, how to apply it. When I was younger...it was so easy. Now its like a science class...that I don't get. Thank you for this tip, and I'm looking forward to more.
This is the first video I watch from you, I am 40 and this is great info! Thanks! You are so sweet and likeable.
Love the gently mocha! Great video for us fab and forty!!!
Great tips! Do you have any drugstore recommendations that would work for us fabulous ladies on a budget?
IM 41 AND IM FABULOUS!!! 😉
Yes you are ❤️
41, where? I know I'm legally blind so no pun intended when I say, I just don't see it!
You look amazing
@@julianne7750 Awww thank you so much sweetheart!
I will be turning 40 in July and I am FABULOUS, thank you for the tips. 🤗
The Maybelline Dream Satin foundation with serum combined with Age Rewind concealer and set with Fit Me loose powder us my drugstore go to. Also the Physicians Formula Healthy foundation works nice. These do not settle into my fine lines. 49 years old, and still love my makeup.
Great tips! You're such a wonderful educator & so cute which makes it fun to watch too!
Thank you so much for this. I need that lip stick ASAP. I am 37 and my skin has changed so much the last couple years. I appreciate these kind of videos so much. Thank you
These are some amazing beauty tips. Keeping the makeup application quick and easy. Thanks Marlena 💕💕
You're such a dear person. Love your videos.
Your dry skin foundation tips literally saved me a couple years ago!
66 and absolutely FABULOUS 😀👍👍👍👍👍. Good skincare, and priming when applying makeup are key elements. Oh do I remember my 40's, then I blinked and the 60's jumped in 😂😂. Embracing and loving every decade. 😘😘😘😘
Lourdes Selman You look fabulous!
Amberielle T Thank you.
Crucibelle Thank you!
Oh yes girl you look great 👍
Such a nice radiant glow and such effortless tips and tricks 😍 thank you 💗
Thank you so much for this video, cuz that's one of the things that kind of keeps me from watching a lot of TH-cam videos and creating videos because I don't think there is an area.
Thabks for this video i cant wait ti see the under eye video!!💕💕💕
I will be 43 in January! I thought I would throw in my favorite drug store foundation and that is the Physicians Formula The Healthy Foundation. I love this one so much. It looks so beautiful on my skin. I do set it a little and if I do it last for my entire 12 hour shift at work without any issues.
I'm 37 and I love that foundation too! Makes my dry skin look healthy and doesn't settle into my fine lines!
Shiney Nickel i will be also 43 in january
I haven't tried this one yet! Thanks for the rec- am going to get tomorrow when I go to Target!!
@@MarlenaStell Please do a review & wear test/check in for us!
I'll be 50 in January, and I can't believe it, but I'm excited. I just bought the Physicians Formula foundation; they finally extended their shades, and I love it!
I’m 50 & fabbbbulouse!!!! I’d love love love to see more makeup tutes for all of us feminine flawless fab in our 50s looks....
Thank you Marlena! Great tips! 😘
44 and forever fabulous ! I have extremely dry skin and live in the tropics where the humidity and sweat is the biggest issue! Thanks for this video !
You and Wayne Goss teach me sooo much!! Thank you!
61 and fabulous here! Great tips Marlena!
I'm a 24 year old and I enjoyed this video! I just enjoy you in general Marlena!
I’m 45, still in shock over that! I really enjoy your channel and thank you for thinking of all of the the ladies in our 40s! ❤️
Gorgeous !! Thanks so much for giving us that updated foundation routine😉😉🌹🌹💋💋
You are such a lovely person!! Thank you for all the tip and tricks😊
Love this!!! Feeling fabulous!!
Thank you Marlena, I love when you do base type videos. Thank you for sharing your tips. Love this video.
I've tried the Dior foundation, I would spray it on the back on the hand if I were you, and then use the beauty blender, works very well for me.
Have a beautiful day.
Hi Marlena, thanks for all the great videos. I have a question. I’m absolutely not debating you. Does oil break down your foundation? Thanks ; )
Absolutely stunning!
I'll be 39 next month. :) I can't wait! I love that the concealer you put under the eyes was literally only a shade lighter. I'm tired of seeing super light under eyes!
what color of nail polish r u wearing? thanks for this vid~~I feel like I have been in need of these steps!!!
I'm turning 40 In a week. This is perfect for me
Happy early birthday!! I turn 39 in a month :)
@@MarlenaStell Thank you dear.. Happy early birthday to you as well. My Mom sent me a card saying 40 is fun :)
I love ur teaching videos. I take so many notes. Keep them coming. 💕
