Absolutely agree with so much of what you say here. We need to push on in efforts to provide more for our families and communities.
Homesteaders come in all shapes, sizes, colors, beliefs, political ideologies, etc.
That said, there are some loud voices in the community that, as you said briefly, are spreading fear and division. It's not the 'stick to themselves' average preppers that cross the line. It's the one's that are making crying wolf their main deal when they could provide so much more value in other ways.
I'm a christian homesteading prepper and understand what the government and corporations are doing but I also don't need my youtube feed filled with "10 things I HAVE to do to survive Biden" content.
You've done so much for homesteading in America and I hope you and this community can rely on what we have in common instead of our differences. I hope to be able to attend an event next year (Virginia or closer to home) and meet so many homesteaders in person and learn from some knowledgeable people.

This message really hit home with me- I am definitely a holistic homesteader and never even considered growing fewer crops to cover a few years. Interesting concept!

You should never have to apologize for your boxes and stuff , even though I find myself doing it to much myself . I have enough projects to last me two or three lifetimes . Many dozen of which are stared and piled some where at any given time .
I have to work for others to feed my family and it is mostly hand to mouth but by doing for ourselves at home ( growing food , cutting wood , making things to sale and for our own use , and doing with out some extra wants ) we make it just fine . I am blessed to have my better half by my side , My wife of 9years , a teenage mom and now a mother of 4 and a previous high school drop out , just went back to school and completed nursing school, (Now a proud RN ) by working hard and taking care of what we have . Endurance is the key to life you have to keep on keeping on . Everything a person can do for there self is place they can save the experience of paying some one for having it done .
We made our own wedding cake and cooked up the meal instead of catering it with some one . I went and picked bundles and bundles of the black eye Susie’s and daisies off the road ditch that morning and we made all the flower arrangements for the tables and the church early that morning before most people was out of the bed . The fruit jars was all clean and extra shiny with there metal bands screwed down under the flowers. We washed the jars that night and I
We canned elderberry jelly in them the next day . That stuff is mighty fine next to biscuits and gravy. You can bet that hard work and diligent ways pays off .
I know I did not hear you say this but I wanted to add this in here . To throw out things that can be used is wasting resources. Bags , Jars , bottles , containers that are clean , dry , and stored up out of the way is not hoarding . It is just retaining resources.
We have to prep and live our conservative life style to satisfy our own needs and wants and stop worrying about what other people think about how and why and what we do . We only have to answer to God and not each other .
We can live our life with out having to answer to them or explaining any thing .
To go ahead and sum this up and get to what I was mainly wanting to say about groups and talk , and opinions I’m going to be honest and straight forward.
God gave each of us a set of feet when he made us in his image and we need to stand on them and answer to him while not letting the opinions of others even waver us one little bit . We (All of us and all of them ) are his and we are in his hands , and there opinions don’t add up to anything but a racket in the back ground , if you don’t get it finished stack it up and if you might need it don’t toss it out and if it breaks wire it back together and if you can help some one by all means for the love of God reach out and help them . And if they don’t like it it don’t matter any way .

I've heard several references the last few days about homesteading drama. I guess I missed it. Love this episode though!

Love your channel. I’m a Christian, gardener/preppier, and just started using herbal remedies for just 3 years now. It was because of my interest in herbalism that I found your channel 6 months ago. I was amazed at my success with herbal remedies so far. Which has caused me to search for people like yourself that I can learn from. Thank you for your teaching!

I love when I hear something that is a totally new thought! I never thought of growing 3 years worth of a particular food then something different the next year. Naturally sometimes that happens sometimes as with a apple tree you will have a great harvest and maybe not a great harvest for 2 or 3 years. Thanks.

I find that sometimes I'll have a crop that fails for an unknown reason. This yr wasn't a good tomato year for me. I always try to have 2 yrs ahead at minimum.

Makes total sense when some years provide a bounty some years not. I should do this with my best crops.

Just like life, people need to do what they can with their resources, homes and land. Rather than looking at a house to be a showplace, make it a place that sustains as an individual or a family as much as it makes sense. If the property doesn’t fit the bill as a homestead where there can be a sizable garden etc, have a plan to get into another property. Grow a life just like a garden, one step at a time. And always think outside the box. A fresh change of perspective sometimes is all that is needed. Even apartment dwellers can forage, make tinctures etc, and can up bargains. Very few can fully live off their properties entirely. Be well everyone.

this was so beautiful. it provoked so many good and hard thoughts!! thank you! I'm going to have to listen again to really absorb it all. I think this year, I may partner with my in-laws in another state to see if we can supplement/support one another's gardens. we traded herbs and elderberries this year, and it was so helpful having someone who DID get good crops of certain things that failed for us. like I said, very thought provoking.

Why don't you have Doug and Stacy at HOA this year? We've learned a lot from them about many different things

The truth always comes out in the end, but often not before those with bad motives cause great harm. Only the Lord knows what is really in our hearts and it’s only by the Holy Spirit that we can discern the truth and embrace it. I stand on Isaiah 54 no weapon formed against me will prosper and every tongue that rises against me in judgment I will refute. They will gather against me, but not by Him and will fall for my sake. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord. What was the contention between Jesus and the religious leaders of His time. He always called them on their bad behavior and threatened their power and income. Who are we supposed to be like…instead many embrace human traditions over God’s way.

Please don't clean up your house and make it look perfect. Real homesteads have projects in every room ! Makes us real people feel more normal. Currently there are 6 half gallon jars of vinegar going in kitchen, tomatoes etc under a grow light in dining room, and laundry in living room. I work ft and still take care of animals and gardens!
