  • This is a more educational video, where I give a rough explanation as to what joule creep is in airsoft. I also demonstrate how powerful it can be with a cool experiment.

      @@HappysAirsoft This topic is much more advanced compared to other fractions in Airsoft, such as shimming, airseal, short-stroking. So doing this will result in fewer views; I think that's the main reason they wouldn't give a care on Joule Creep. Why bother about [[ KE = (1/2)*m*v^2 ]] when they just need to plug in the battery and pull the trigger :))

      @HappysAirsoft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Minh Thịnh Huỳnh Lê I agree. Most people just hand their gun off to a field staff for the chrono, and as long as it passes, they're happy.

    the good old days of making your piston heavier to get a legal joule creep AEG, especially on sniper rifles this did miracles.. luckily in our country within a few years of airsoft they switched to Joules. lots of cqb fields have a .25 weight limit at 1.2j

    • @HappysAirsoft
      @HappysAirsoft  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What country are you from out of curiosity? But yeah I remember guys doing that too. I also remember when polar star was new, and nobody knew what joule creep was. So you'd have guys shooting 390fps with .20g bbs. Then they'd switch to .30g bbs and shoot 390fps with them still 🤣 Everyone was convinced Polar stars had more range back then because of it!

      @@HappysAirsoft that sort of shit is why hpa gets such a bad rep these days though. Because people back in the day people used to abuse joule creep. A lot of them still do I occasionally ref at a local site and I have cought multiple people chronoing with .2s and then later loading .32s or .36s and I had to rechrono them to find they're actually running hot.
      Because of all the issues around it the site ended up banning hpa as well as binary triggers etc as its easier to just ban it outright than police correct use.

      @Raz_Tactical I 100% agree with ya! Back in the early days of Polar Star, when I was a noob, it was a huge issue. People couldn't comprehend joule creep. They thought "well if it's under 400fps with a .20g, or any other weight, it's all good!" ... it was not all good getting lit up by a 40RPS gun @390fps with .30g bbs lol.
      Luckily, nowadays, my local field chronos everyone with .32s to help mitigate that. They also cap them to 30RPS so there's no nut jobs with 55RPS machine guns shredding people.

      @@HappysAirsoft yeah unfortunately. What I hate is all the people who do everything to increase their semi rate of fire with stuff like paintball triggers, binaries, extremely sensitive triggers etc. Like we have semi only rules to prevent overshooting and potential injuries in our CQB games and people will spam the trigger so fast they might as well use full auto.
      It's gotten to the point where in briefing we basically have to say that if you have a "full auto finger" and we catch you then you're in timeout till next round...

    • @HappysAirsoft
      @HappysAirsoft  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Raz_Tactical I hear ya! The local CQB arena that I no longer play at has rules like that too. Otherwise they had players making 10+RPS semi auto builds.
      On one hand, I can applaud the skill to make a build like that and sometimes I think people get a little too ornery when they get hit by more than one BB in a single encounter.
      BUT
      on the flip side, most of the guys that have builds like that abuse them and over shoot other players. They usually take walk on games way too seriously and sorta ruin the fun since they have attitudes and act like they have a $100k prize pool on the line. Everyone with those builds also wants to be the guy that goes "that's not full auto, this is" lol

    Super informative video thank you. Really cleared things up for me.
    I was wondering, does this mean shotguns on 6 shot all joule creep? IE 2x the bb weight each barrel on 6 shot? I swear those shotguns are something else.

    • @HappysAirsoft
      @HappysAirsoft  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm really glad this video helped you out! As for gas shotguns, I'd have to chrono one and see but I think the only way you'd get the joule creep effect with them is if the BBs were traveling at close to the same speed as they do in 3 shot mode, and if they were basically stacked on top of each other. Otherwise, I don't think so because once the BBs scatter and spread out, then it's just a matter of how many Joules each individual BB has. I think they suck extra bad to get shot by (especially at close range) because the bbs are so close together that it feels like you're getting hit by one massive one lol

    the we tech svd is a very good example with joule creep shoots a nice chill 2.5j with .20s at 500fps. loaded .48s in it and it only dropped to 485fps, chrono gave 6.4j...
    its a gbbr with a *640mm* barrel. took a 390mm barrel, fps restrictor disc and dropping down to 115 psi to get it field legal. still outranges everything on the field with .45s

    • @HappysAirsoft
      @HappysAirsoft  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a really good example. My WE Scar H is bad too. Not sure what it chronos with .20s but I know I saw it jump from 2.8 with .40s up to 3.1 with .45s lol. And at its worst, it was at 4Joules with .40s.
      But 6.4Joules? Holy moly!!! That could probably kill a small rodent lol

      @@oregonhockeyfan i went back to the 640mm barrel and decided to stop using super heavy bbs, i recommend .28s-.32s unless you're running it as a sniper
      it sits at 1.7J with .28s right now, i use it as a heavy assault rifle, just barely touching dmr limits.
      if you're using it as a sniper with .40+ bbs, use the 390mm barrel and a restrictor disc

      @@elijahstewart1333 good to know. I just started messing with HPA adapters for the mags this week. I’ve been having a lot of issues with green gas not operating properly. It does the dreaded liquid gas dump out the top. I was only putting about 6-9 seconds of gas in. With the HPA adapter, I was hitting from 2.8 to 3.4 joules with .40s at 3 different pressures, 130/140/150 psi. The kick at 150psi was nice but definitely not safe for play. I have some .28s that I will definitely load up and try out on the field.

    Ok so I have an aeg that shoots 381 average with .2s. That ends up being like 1.34 joules. What would that be with a .3 bb and again at a .28. I ask because my favorite field has a limit of 1.5 joules with .3.

    • @HappysAirsoft
      @HappysAirsoft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be at exactly 1.5 Joules with those weights, you'd need to be at 340fps with the .28s and 328 fps with the .30g bbs. I would say shoot for 335fps with the .28g bbs to be safe and like 320fps with the .30g bbs to be safe as well.

    Ouwer field limit is 1,6j. 0.3g.And they take mesuring just with max g. Bb´s. I would say good aeg with wider spring would shoot stronger then 1,6j if you shoot with 0.25g it would be back wards j. Encrease. It would be the same feil.
