Extra Ordinary, Exceptional, Marvelous and so on and so on. Ustad Sarhang from Afghanistan, He was indeed Baba-E-Mouseeqi, Sar Taj-E-Mouseeqi and Sher-E-Mouseeqi. A huge respect from Pakistan.
What a great classical musician. I am sure if he sings in any Mahfil of Mumbai will get great appreciating audience. Indian classical music is beyond national or state boundaries. There are only Shangeetagya and shrotagan in a Mahfil.
The great late Ustad Sarahang is a Afghan, who spent many years in India studying music. Saazmantra you are right he does sound like the great ustad bade Ghulam Ali khan, and thats beacause he is a student of Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan, the great ustad's brother and student.
@KohsaarTv I think he was NOT one of the best But The Best in afghanistan, the one and only . de people of afghanistan didnt appreciate his classical music so he had to sing light ghazals. I love all his classical bandish. he was Gods gift to afghanistan and afghan people.
music has no boundaries, no matter where he was born, Art and music is just not limited to one man made boundary. He is an international artist. i could listen his urdu, punjabi, pashtu , farsi ghazals too . I would luv to know who was his ustad , guru, teacher, murshad in music, any name??!
He was from Peshawar and later settled in Bur Pakhtunkhwa's Kabul city. He blended in well amongst other Afghans, unlike many tajik immigrants who still take pride in being persian despite deblocking Kabul city sewerage lines for decades. 35% of Pakhtuns speaks both languages i.e Pashtu and Darri...
classicpower7 bro he is from lahore. He was a muslim...his name was siraaj.... partition k waqt he moved to india nd converted himself into hindu nd took name jasraj...... yeh bhaid sirf apko ghar k log bata saktay hain ya woh log jo un k mohalay may rehtay hain....!!
Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan was no one's brother. He was the Khalifa of Patiala gharana. Bade Ghulam Ali and Sarahang both took training from him. They were both much his juniors.
He wasn't a 'Pathan'. He's family arrived from Peshawer to Afghanistan in the early 20th century. It's not quite clear what their ethnic background was. Anyhow, starting from his 'teens, he spent 16 years studying with Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan of Patiala in India. Thus, his command of Hindustani languages and song...
This is lovely but are we sure, this is Ustad Sarahang? Is this performance from his years? His voice sounds much sharper than his later recordings. Just wondering!
Ye wahid singer tha afghanistan ka jub india is ko invite kiya gaya jub ye wahan poncha tu is k liye red carpit ki jaga owrto.ne apne.ball zameen py pehlayeye un py chal k hall tak gaya

Magnificent rendition, True legend. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Rest In Peace Ustad Sarahang!
Incredible! I am just amazed how well versed he is in Indian Classical Music. Reminds me of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khaan sahab's style of singing.
Saaz Mantra Here he is singing more in Ashiq Ali Khan Sahib's style
Very natural...Bade Ghulam Ali Khan sahab was lion & Saharang sahab was followed the same legacy, both belong to Patiala Kausar gharana

So, what, he is singing Hindustani classic music, don't you appreciate that? Good for being Pathaan, but his ancestry is Hindu.
What has Allah to do with this singing , In Islam singing is forbidden.
