- The Christmas Maze continues with challenge 4, where we head to Demon's Souls to take on the mighty Phalanx boss. That already sounds hard enough, right? Well, Rob thought he make it even harder by making Ash put on a Christmas jumper every time she heals. Good. Great, even.

lol I like that Rob tested the jumpers first. Just imagine him sitting alone in a room so the team doesn't know what he's doing as he's squeezing into all these jumpers, can get 8 on and then says "Ok, so 8 is the limit... I'll add 1 more for a little extra evil." lol
The idea of Rob slowly pulling on 8 Christmas jumpers whilst alone in a room is unsettling.
Then imagine him trying to remove them, alone.
@@calebjross Dan might have helped him, as he is responsible for literally everything else.
@@calebjross And then picture him getting stuck already on the first he's trying to remove and walking out there with a jumper pulled over his head and half of his arms like, "A little help there?" And someone from the others who had no idea what he had been doing in there is getting more and more confused which each layer they help him out of.
I'm with Rob, that was a fail, and he was very generous.
I agree...but I think everyone was thinking, "You know, if they had picked Rosie (or even Dave), the team would be mopping the floor with Rob's damn crystal in ten minutes." I think there would have been too much backlash and ill will if Rob hadn't at lest given Ash the chance to give the boss a go (and he did only give her one shot at it).

@@ericrawlins8444 the problem there is, the challenge was to get to and beat the boss in the time limit, i mean, he was generous enough to let each combat instance count as one instance of healing, at the end he let her run by enemies instead of fighting every enemy she sees as originally stated, and, there was a point where she healed but they forgot about her needing to wear a jumper, lol
he was seriously overly generous, and this should have been a fail and honestly any backlash imho would be from people who dont understand how challenges work lol
@@woteveruk1 doesn't really matter tbh, win or fail this is great content. Last christmas maze he also gave more time for metal gear solid and yet in the end Rob still won quite easily with CTR. I agree though that he was very generous here, I even thought they were not going to be allowed to heal anymore if they ran out of jumpers, but at the same time 45 minutes is definitely not a lot of time for a new player especially when you have to fight everything. perhaps giving her an hour but stick to the rules would have been better.
@@woteveruk1 They ran out of jumpers so not sure what was supposed to happen when healing after 9, overall this was super generous and should have been a fail.
Rob is really, really lenient. It makes me wonder if he's got a trick up his sleeve, that the Christmas baubles will end up being an impediment instead of an aid... Or maybe that's just wishful thinking!

The funniest thing is as much as he wants to torture them Rob can’t stand watching them play any other way than he’d like so he starts helping them 🤣🤣 his inner conflict is brilliant 🤣
Haven't got to the end yet, but I can already predict that Ash is going to be looking like Ann when she arrives at Yusuke's place to do the modeling gig in Persona 5. xD

I love that they all work together as a team, Rob included. It shows that they get along well in real life. Rob even cheered them on for a second until he remembered he wasn't supposed to. It has to be said, that yes, Rob helped them a lot but also - Ash was a true sport for putting on all the jumpers when she could have just wrapped them around her waist or her neck.
They work well as a team to produce a supremely entertaining episode.
Dave almost dropping the prize at the end and looking around to see if anyone noticed. Classic move.
The xmas mazes are just so iconic. I don't even celebrate Xmas but I love seeing this every year!
Major kudos to Ash for gaming competently while wearing that many layers of clothing. Can imagine it being very warm and uncomfortable even in the winter months.

I love this group and this series. They work so well together. Rob is fiendish as the architect of the games but like a caring father looking after their kids when they fall by wayside. Wonderful concept and brilliantly fun

This episode is so full of hilarious moments that I've just lost count of them all. But my favorite one has to be at 50:00. That one really just made me think of the Rhinoceros scene in Ace Ventura 2.

I used this video as a playing guide as I had been struggling to get started with my ps3 version. Got to phalanx and beat it when I next fired the game up. So glad I didn't have to bog myself down with jumpers while playing

Thats got to be the most funniest episode Ive seen. Laughing at Ash high-squealing accent about a blooming dragon @08:30 and just laughing watching Ash balloon in jumpers like Violet Beauregarde. 🤣🤣
Ash definitely did heal on that second fight with the strong enemy but everyone just forgot about it. It's okay though, the torture should be fairly limited because I cant imagine this many garments on at once.

Mr Pearson may have enjoyed this in the moment, but I suspect given time he may come to regret putting himself so firmly on Ash's revenge radar.
I've been playing this for Christmas break, loving it. Got it at launch but was in to other games at the time.
It was my Christmas game last year ... Still the best thing I've played all year!
Omg this was the best episode this year so far!! As a really good Demon's Souls player myself it was incredibly stressful seeing the way Ash was playing! Every fat roll hurt me a little 😂 Although MASSIVE RESPECT to Ash for powering through with all of the odds stacked against her! What a hilarious and entertaining episode!!

Hmmmm, this felt a bit too lenient from Rob on this one. I’m usually happy for the winning team, but this felt a tad hollow at the end.
A good shout would be to either set the time limit to an hour instead of 45 minutes OR do not require the defeat of every single enemy they see. I think allowing Ash a shot at the boss upon reaching it was fair, but he should have set the 5 minute time limit as soon as she walked through the gate. Just my thoughts...but as some other commenters have said; win or lose, it's still great content. LOVE Playstation Access!

By the end of this, Ash reminded me of the ancient aliens from Fifth Element. We need a proper Demon Souls play through with Ash being coached by Rosie.
Normally I cheer for Rob on these, but Ash was so endearing as a fraidy cat I couldn't help but root for her.
Wow what a challenge! Intense and gripping throughout, Demon Souls really is a stunning game! Ash having to wear all those jumpers! 😂 Rob really was generous with this challenge but guess got to have some mercy with games like this and the rules Rob sometimes adds during a challenge (like the timer right at end) is sneaky but adds to the fun 😅 well done to Ash, Dave and Rosie were really great assist too! 👍
