This was fantastic. made my setup a breeze after an unsuccessful attempt before I watched your vid. One point to note though, you can actually leave the cap on, the fittings actuallly mold to it.
Hey Brian, just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to you for having made this vid and posted it. I ordered 2 soft boxes for really cheap from Walmart ($58 for both that are exactly like your's), but they came with absolutely no instructions, even tho the advert said they came with "notes". Ha ha. Guess you get what you pay for. I would have had no clue how to do the support poles in the actual soft box itself without you. The support poles are in place and my soft boxes are up. I did have to do them a few times over cuz I set them up at the wrong angle, but SUCCESS! Couldn't have done it without you!
You saved my day, too! The description for assembling the parts is very bad. So I looked for somebody like you. Because the sides have not the same length (it is a rectangle as said in the manual) and the rods are inserted in a square, I did not dare to bend the bars so far forward. You showed me how to do it. Thank you a lot!

Very very helpful! Thank you so much for putting this up. Just a comment, the outer diffuser comes packed with the seams inverted (inside out) for packing. You have to turn them in order for the corners to slide on a bit tighter as well as for the velcro to be on the correct side.
My boyfriend insisted I comment and let you know that you made his life SO much easier!!! We had been working with the rods for hours because the instructions are so horribly made. Thank you sooooooo much!!!!!

The rounded end DOES NOT go in the fixture the smaller end does - it has a "stopper" so it doesn't keep going into the fixture and possibly damage your light. Also NEVER tighten CFL lights from the glass lamp, do it from the base or they could crack and break. The light can go either horizontal or vertical BTW

Hi Brian, I was very pleased with your instruction. I had purchase a lighbox kit with three softboxes (not the Fancier Studios brand). It did not come with instructions. I got a little confused about how to attach the four little rods to the lamp base. The base had a number of little holes around it and it did not occur to me, nor did they look like they were designed to accept the four little rods because there were about 8 or so of the little holes. I had looked a couple TH-cam videos, one of which had the info that I wanted but it had nothing verbal, just music, and the video was set to play at supersonic speed. Needless to say, that video was useless. I found you video and just wanted to tell you that it is very well done and I got the info I needed. Thank you for taking the time to make the video.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you on behalf of myself and my 2 daughters lol I tried setting mine up last week and it was a disaster. I am 41yrs old and my kids said I was like a child having a tantrum after about half an hour of trying to put it together. I even watched other tutorials but they didn't help. I was ready to throw it in the bin as I was sure it was faulty. Luckily I packed it away for a week and have just seen your video. I started assembling and had no idea what I was doing then I was just trying to work it all out for legit 2 hours and then gave up and decided to look on TH-cam. I had gotten a different brand that came with ZERO instructions for set up other than saying it was “easy” and EVERY other video out there that said it was a how-to literally said nothing or next to nothing about the procedures and fast forward time lapses through the actual set up!! I’ll be using my light kit for my self-taped auditions as an actor, helping others tape theirs and maybe even my own short films! Thank you for this video! I just bought a set of these and they are a bit different, but your instructions were great. The new soft-boxes have an elastic band around the throat that goes over the light hosing. There's still Velcro around the edges and at the corners, but the Velcro on the throat opening is gone. The problem I had was with the rods that insert behind the Velcro at the corners. You didn't really make it clear that there were two pieces to the corner Velcro and that the rods slipped between them, but when you inserted that last rod, it really made sense! Also, the rods no longer have a sharp end...both sides are rounded, but one has a flare-out, or a flange, look to it. I used the smoother side in the Velcro and the flanged side in the light fixture and it seems right. Thanks again!
Life saver bud. Mine never came with any instructions? I got the Volk well Softbox (exactly the same as yours but no Velcro at the base of the lights). Really appreciate this video as it was driving me nuts. Cheers mate :)

thanx mine was a single bulb unit with internal spacers your demo helped me deal with the problem of spreading the internal spars

Hey I just wanna say you are honestly my life saver! I received mine with no manual or instruction book or even a sheet of paper. I started assembling and had no idea what I was doing then I was just trying to work it all out for legit 2 hours and then gave up and decided to look on TH-cam. I came across many videos but yours was the most useful and friendly and then after watching your video I assembled my 2 softl ighting boxes in 5 mins 😂😂😂 So thankyou so much!! ❤️
Yep came in real handy. Kit came with no instructions, was not intuitive to setup, and so your video was a real time saver. Cheers...
Sincerest thank you imaginable!! I had gotten a different brand that came with ZERO instructions for set up other than saying it was “easy” and EVERY other video out there that said it was a how-to literally said nothing or next to nothing about the procedures and fast forward time lapses through the actual set up!!
So, seriously, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for being so thorough and clear in this video.
I’ll be using my light kit for my self-taped auditions as an actor, helping others tape theirs and maybe even my own short films!

Thank you for this video! I just bought a set of these and they are a bit different, but your instructions were great. The new soft-boxes have an elastic band around the throat that goes over the light hosing. There's still Velcro around the edges and at the corners, but the Velcro on the throat opening is gone. The problem I had was with the rods that insert behind the Velcro at the corners. You didn't really make it clear that there were two pieces to the corner Velcro and that the rods slipped between them, but when you inserted that last rod, it really made sense!
Also, the rods no longer have a sharp end...both sides are rounded, but one has a flare-out, or a flange, look to it. I used the smoother side in the Velcro and the flanged side in the light fixture and it seems right.

Life saver bud. Mine never came with any instructions? I got the Volk well Softbox (exactly the same as yours but no Velcro at the base of the lights). Really appreciate this video as it was driving me nuts. Cheers mate :)
