I went through this, it was horrible, all my organs started shutting down, I was on a vent for 2 months! My heart goes out to all that have to deal with this!❤️
It seems like nobody knows much OF dress syndrome. I’m 20 and was just diagnosed two days ago. It’s been so miserable. For your daughter my heart breaks, I am so sorry for what you both went through. So so sorry. Prayers.
I lost my Mother to DRESS syndrome caused by Drug - Indomethecin .It was prescribed to her by Orthopedic doctor for Plantar Fasciitis. She took the Medicine for about 3 weeks and after that she developed DRESS syndrome and died after 10 days due to Myocarditis, Multi Organ Dysfunction
Indomethicin is a major drug that can cause DRESS Syndrome. I took Carbamazepine, which is also a major culprit. I was at a doctors office during my recovery. While talking to my doctor, she told me that a relative had a severe reaction to Tylenol. It wasn’t DRESS Syndrome. It was Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. We all must be very careful.
Like everyone else here, I have much sympathy for you losing your daughter in this most dreadful way. I took a generic form of Tegretol for 2 weeks in 2011. I am still suffering the after affects and all bodily systems except my nervous system was profoundly affected. I still consider myself as fortunate. The ER that my daughter brought me to had an expert on DRESS Syndrome from Japan visiting Harbor-UCLA Medical Center to teach residents and medical students about this condition. This doctor saved my life. I spent 10 days in ICU and at least 6 months to functionally recover. I was on moderate doses of prednisone and other immunosuppressants for at least a year. I still have to go on prednisone periodically for skin flare ups. But like I said, the recovery is not complete. I am disappointed to realize that DRESS Syndrome is still mysterious to American medical institutions. I hope for this to change, much sooner than later.
