James had essentially outshined Ken during his briefer appearance on the show and you could tell that this tournament meant a LOT to Ken. @@Slowpoke3x i think with these three, specifically, they'd been on jeopardy for so long (especially Ken, who works on the show) that they built up a rapport with Alex. That made them more relaxed during the game. And since the three of them are Ultra Champions they're frequently together for publicity things. It's like watching a bunch of friends banter for half an hour. It makes a great show lol. But for the regular contestants, they're usually nervous and just trying to win
Ken may be the GOAT, but I still say James Holzhauer was the greatest thing that ever happened to Jeopardy. That was the best television I have ever watched in my four decades.
it's a shame. In his prime he was the winningest Jeopardy contestant (in terms of tournament wins) in history. He essentially retired from the game for years, only to return for this tournament due to Trebek's bout with Cancer. But after so many years (where the game changed a LOT, especially due to James' shift in strategy), he was so out of practice he couldn't remain competitive. He absolutely deserved to be in the GOAT tournament, but had no real chance of winning. It's like if Babe Ruth facing off against the 2020 Los Angeles Dodgers pitching staff. It's not that he's talented, it's just the game has moved on so drastically.
Notice how the dude's still talking when James makes the joke? You can see him working out the joke as soon as Alex started talking
R.I.P Alex Trebek, host to one of the greatest and most recognized game shows of all time
No, you can't. His face doesn't change at all from before the scores were erased. The face he's making has nothing to do with the comment he's about to make. Very clear he made it up on the fly.
@@curran4600 yes? his expression doesn't change at all, especially right before he was going to say it. if it did, then that would connote that it suddenly popped into his mind. it's not that hard to understand.
@@coolcatcastle8 Its highly unlikely that before the numbers erased to 0, he looked at the numbers and thought "oh they are going to change to 0, and when they do, I'll make this joke". Its much more likely that the moment it popped into his mind, he said it. So yes, his facial expression changed when it popped into his mind, because he began speaking.
when brad hit the bankruptcy wedge in wheel of fortune while playing Jeopardy
Poor Brad. He dominated Ken and went undefeated in Jeopardy for 18 years, but one tournament completely changed his legendary status as the GOAT.
Brutal and legendary.
It’s refreshing to see a Jeopardy contestant with a personality.
Idk about them but I'd be worried about upstaging the host. I mean you don't want to come off as a dick.
@@OfficiallySarabi Exactly, these guys already know how the game works. So them doing things like this is probably what you should expect.
How many times has this James been in game shows not just Jeopardy itself?
@@HyPhuyenTheSwordPrince his job rn is beating people in a game show

This is a villain's origin story playing out in real time... 😂
This is one of my favorite clips. 😂
This still gets me every time!
Ken may be the GOAT, but I still say James Holzhauer was the greatest thing that ever happened to Jeopardy. That was the best television I have ever watched in my four decades.
Technical champion vs people's champion
Ken is still a good host though and truly a good replacement for Alex. Can't say the same for the other replacement host.

What a pro Alex was.
I like that he was smiling before he even said it. He knew his master plan
James ken are the kings of jeopardy lol
It's Ken's reaction that does it for me

I still come back to watch this video from time to time. Still one of the greatest burns in tv history.
I love it when these kinds of moments happen, cuz Jeopardy is such a relaxed and humble show that the laughs really hit hard if and once they happen
Woah I was like “how is high quality going to change it”, but no no no, now I can see James had the plan the whole time
I didn’t watch the episode but Brad seems like he deserved that.
it's a shame.

This is exactly the kind of joke I would miss out on making, because I would wait for him to finish talking, and we would have already moved on to a new subject.
P.S. I hate being the guy that thanks people for likes, but this is my first time getting 1k on a comment, and I feel important.
Litetally that's the same thought I had when I saw this the first time
Holy shit you just described my entire life...
There's a life lesson in this comment. Don't wait to do the things you wanna. Because when you wait for the right moment it'll be too late.
@@ethanvan1415 but also dont be a douchebag and cut people off all the time. You've gotta time it perfectly
Yeah, he had to say it right after Alex mentioned the score, which of course the joke also references. If he waited it wouldn't be funny, the comedic timing would be gone.
You can tell they've become the best of friends. It's great. I love it.
honestly its nice to see some laughs on jeopardy
