That’s a definite possibility, I’ve given talks for quite a few different bird clubs/organizations. I’ve got tutorials up for quite a few different DIY parrot toys, hopefully you find one your bird enjoys :)
@@HiRedBird yes he absolutely loves chewing on straws! Who would have guessed? None of his toys seem to entice him to chew like this except for his perches and ladder which aren’t exactly toys lol but in his mind they are...but he absolutely loves paper and plastic straws! I’ve spent so much money on cute toys that don’t appeal to him but these simple, affordable DIY options seem to really be a hit!
It’s one of the easiest and cheapest toys to make, so it’s definitely one of my favorites. I think a lot of people can relate to the balance of wanting to provide a variety of toys for their animals without breaking the bank.
This is such a neat idea....I love the pencil sharpener use...I actually bought a special "spiralizer" a number of years ago but your idea is much easier to use! My Amazon and Hahn's Macaw are going to have some new toys today!
I’ve used the spiralizers before, and it seems like it’s pretty much the same concept. The spiralizer is more ergonomic for this application, but the blades still dull over time. It’s nice that you can get pencil sharpeners at a dollar store that do the job just fine :)
This is such a great idea. It will double as a craft for my kids and a toy for our greencheek conure. I need a video like this for our cape parrot and macaw.
Glad it worked out for you! I have some “dollar stores” (price ends up being $1.59-$1.79, but they still call themselves dollar stores) that have some decent quality zip ties, but I definitely agree that the quality of some items can be questionable. Glad the toys were useful for your rats, so many people get caught on the categorization of toys that they won’t give their animals certain items even though the animals can benefit immensely! :)
It would be hard to get the string tight enough, so I would just foresee that being a health concern. It’s always better to err on the side of caution :)
I make these for my budgies and they like them, just make sure you watch your animals whenever you give them something new. Just like kids, they have a tendency to get into trouble when we trust them lol.
I just made it and within seconds of putting it on my budgies play stand, he's happily playing with it. Success!!! Thank-you. :)

a trick: you can watch series at flixzone. Been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.

mine didnt come out like that and did the same thing.
Did you use enough straws? I’ve tried making them with less straws and they end up looking a bit sad.
