    Thank you for posting this! I am a new long armer (since March) and am doing all hand guided. It is super helpful to watch designs develop! As others have said, I could watch this all day!❤

    You are great at what you do. I am just learning to use my Cutie. I'm not having the best luck with it. I went back to just sitting at my sewing machine and going from there. My husband is staying positive for me and continues to say it will take time. 🤪

    Thank you Angela for all the TH-cam videos you have done over these many years! They have taught me so much in not to be afraid of free motion quilting. And I have been loving seeing you quilt on these beautiful printed panels…such a great way to just FM quilt😁

      how in the world do you manipulate such large pieces on your domestic machine. i have such a hard time.

    • @bjbquilts4181
      @bjbquilts4181 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eileensnyder1275 I’ve tried rolling, crimping, folding etc but I find loosely spreading the quilt over my sewing table and working on approximately a 10”x10” area at a time works best. I get “lost” in that focused area and soon it’s time to shift the quilt and go to the next 10”. I’ve tried every kind of quilt sandwich, (fused,basted…) and my favorite is simply pinning and removing those pins as I come to them. I’m also not a perfectionist, and call myself a whimsical and organic quilter. 😉 So I take a lot of pleasure in the process and not too much bothers me. Thanks for asking.

    Without the talking, it is easy to see how smooth all of your motifs are! (Yes the talking often interferes both in your control and our attention). I now can do most of the same motifs but mine are still not as uniformly formed as consistent as you do it, obviously all that practice does improve it & with the concentration! I do mine on my Juki home machine (basic model no computer, no regulated stitch). My stitch is fairly even but not quite as symmetrically formed! Love your tips and your videos showing how you move, it’s all helpful!

    I loved the long arm presentation. I have been wondering how it is best to change thread color. Do you use one color after stabilizing the quilt and then advance to stitch all the areas with that color. Then wind the quilt back to the beginning and use a different color? Or do you change the colors to quilt all the areas within the throat space of the long arm, then advance? What’s the best way to stabilize the quilt? I know you have talked about stabilization in the past, ccould you give a brief discussion again. I don’t want pleats to form. The thread color changes and stabilization would be a good Thursday chat. Thank you for all the inspiration you give quilters. With both the sit down and long arm machines.

  • @eileensnyder1275

    I would love to watch you quilt this or one of your panels on a domestic sewing machine. Watching the long arm is amazing but how in the world do you manipulate large pieces on a domestic machine and not lose the fluidity.

    • @deborahemielita5949
      @deborahemielita5949 ปีที่แล้ว

      What she says previously is that she works in a smaller space on a domestic machine. That all depends upon your throat space for maneuvering and often the motif is smaller more dense.
      The domestic machine it’s also easier to start in the center of the quilt. The where you go next is still similar in a shorter range, but requires changing hand positions more often.

      There are some things you can do better on a sit down machine and some things on a long arm. I have finally stopped dreaming of a long arm and thinking about all the things I can’t do and instead working on what I can do and how to adapt my ideas for a sit down.
      FYI - I did the last challenge on a domestic straight stitch machine by Brother. Worked great!

    • @deborahemielita5949
      @deborahemielita5949 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrsBobsMom Absolutely agree. The long arm is another skill set entirely, but it all can be done on a domestic machine. Helps to have the appropriate thread guides and easily accessible feed dog down button on one’s domestic machine. (My simple Juki has those). I’ve gotten all her motifs and consistent stitching down, she is still way more consistent on her shapes than I am;it’s all good though. I started with the walking foot at the 1/4” inside edge around all my piecing and that is super sweet too. Now doing that with a ruler instead of the walking foot. All skills that take time to learn! Best to use what you have and make it work, not daydream about what you don’t have!

    Beautiful!! do you use a regulator?

    • @yellowtruckgirl1
      @yellowtruckgirl1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will reply for Angela since I also have a Handi Quilter. She is using her HQ in what is referred to as manual mode. Not regulated mode. Here the smooth motor sound? If it was in regulated, every turn and pause would change the tone of her quilting.

    Angela, I have a question for your next live chat. I was wondering about the training wheels material. Do the lines wash out of the fabric ?

    • @deborahemielita5949
      @deborahemielita5949 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think she said those are permanent lines, making that a no on washing them away after quilting.

    • @tiffanycoffey139
      @tiffanycoffey139 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you use heat erase pens to make your lines, they iron right off after. I've done it a lot with almost no issues.

    • @marionivy8270
      @marionivy8270 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deborahemielita5949 I got the Training wheel fabrics. No they do not wash out. Just go with the flow. I matched my thread to the background fabric color.
