How he love her, how he want to protect and guide her. I think it's the true mean of being father.
Yeah. Thats why he betrayed her, killed an innocent man, and tried to murder Spike, the only person that actually supported Buffy.
How the hell Anthony and Amber didn't become a singing duet after this is beyond me.

Breaks my heart every time. He understands how much of terrible burden being the slayer is and only wishes that he could make all of her hardships disappear.
I think Giles also recognized that no Slayer survived to this point, but Buffy had. A watcher was no longer necessary in her life because unlike the previous slayers, she had friends.
Truly her father in all the meaningful ways....
And instead just decides to leave. And then returns and makes things even worse.

Giles is my favourite character, and seeing him blaming himself that much for not being able to help Buffy is almost too much.
And then we have Tara and Willow's relationship breaking apart, and that makes it definitely too much.

This song is so sad and so well done. This is a fabulous episode and one of the best music episodes of any show, ever.
Every time I feel down or depressed about something, it's these songs I turn to. I don't know how to explain/describe it, but it's like I get the sense of how everyone is feeling whilst the characters are singing this. It kinda helps me. :-(

Same. I actually turned to Buffy when I was in therapy because of burn out (depression and anxiety as a neat package). Like, I couldn’t cry anymore, especially not for myself. My conditioning was like: “You got no reason to cry. Don’t be ungrateful.”
So when my therapist asked me to actually feel, in contrast to analysing my emotions, I turned to Buffy.
Yeah, it’s weird. I know. Psychology IS weird in a way, but also fucking logical.
There are a LOT of emotional and painful scenes in “Buffy” that helped me practice for the real thing. (I also used Pixar movies… damn that scene when Wall-E holds hands with himself while watching „My fair lady“. All that yearning and loneliness is just heartbreaking.)
Anthony Head is awesome and Amber Benson has a voice like an angel. Every time I'm going through a hard time, I have to listen to the songs from Once more with feeling, it helps me get through some real rough patches.

OK I have to say this is awesome Anthony Head is one of my favorite actors(and has a great voice) and Amber Benson is beautiful and also has a stunning voice. They definitely made this episode.

Was a young teen when this first came out. Didn't appreciate this song then but as an adult it's one of my favourites!
On the DVD extras they talk about how difficult it was to composite this scene with him walking and singing in normal speed while Buffy is in slow motion, because he's crossing both behind and in front of her, and they didn't have the budget for CGI.
Id argue that CGI in 2000's looked older now. Compositing is a bit brutish but it creates real movement and detail on the film. Good idea imo. Same with the face shifting for vamps
Ahhh i love this song!! The actor who plays Gilles is a good singer! The actors who play Tara and Spike are also really good. I agree... the best songs are this on, walk through the fire and rest in peace.

SMG would be the first one to tell you that she does NOT do her own stunts. She had some very talented stunt persons doing the stunts and she has praised their work. Some of the Buffy DVDs have docs on them and interviews with them. Hats off to them!
I like Anthony Stewart Head. He's a pretty good singer! I liked him in Repo.

No, it's so the filters don't recognize it, and block it from going live.
More than likely, this happens during the processing step of video uploads. It picks up something that it recognizes in its database of "Stuff we're not allowed to upload" and kills the video so no one can see it.
I think they were talking about how bends her wrists. Too much strain on the wrist instead of shifting the force to the arm.

The chords when they sing "wish I could stay" together from 2:54 on seem discordant and harsh (kind of like how when Spike sings "living" and Buffy sings "heaven" in "give me something to sing about" that are deliberately slightly off-key and jarring) which gives more weight and depth to their conflicting emotions.
Love Anthony's voice in this song. Giles is still my favorite character :) Does anyone know where I can get Anthony's song?
You can buy the episode on iTunes. They might offer the individual songs. i wanted the whole episode.
The soundtrack is also on CD. Then, if your a completist, you might slso want to get the single for I'm the Mrs from the OMwF flashback scene where Anyanka gives UP her powers in the next season.

Guyz people who are hating on buffy/sarah with here punches mind u that she ISNT a really black belt or super strong so maybe people shouldnt judge how she punches.
sarah M Gellar is a black belt in tae kwan do and that has been shown in many films/ tv series she has done they just take precautions so she doesn't risk injury. it's part of the reason thye chose her for buffy in the first place...CONVENIENT. and it it wouldn't have been called buffy vampire slayer if they had done it that way LOl they would have changed it if dawn had become the lead. there was this small book joss whedon did on it: dawn goes to buffy's grave and the slayer power is transfer

I totally understand...I wore out the 1 CD I had n my DVD is old n worn but this musical always pumped me up... if you know where I can download a copy, please let me know...
The biggest issue I have with this episode:
These 2 aren't in the opening credits
They had special/custom opening credits for this episode and stuck with 'who are in the regular title-sequence'
Snubbing this and the 2 songs it completes over "I think this line's mostly filler"
The one thing that bugs me more than the 'yeah that didn't happen'-'happily ever after, close curtain kiss'

There's nothing wrong with her punches... The vertical punches that she is doing are from Tae-Kwon-Do, and if anyone who's practiced will tell you, they're incredibly effective punches, usually more so than wild, swinging horizontal punches.
Correct. But not as effective as straight, tight punches from a boxing background 😉

When i first watched it, they sounded fine. like I said, it's been a few years since i've seen the episode, so it sounds weird to me. And I wasn't attacking the actors/writers/composers
she usually does a pretty good job of martial arts... but i've done tae kwon do for 6 years and that's not how you punch. but it doesnt really matter, buffy is amazing :)
