It is true, the University does not care about your degree. In fact, virtually nobody does. A degree is just another means to get into better paid jobs, but it brings nothing to the table as the knowledge you gain is so out of tune with the modern world that you may as well become a specialist in 19th century machine and claim that you are an engineer (your knowledge would be useless). I wish the higher education would understand that they are living in a bubble, but they still do not see it.

Personally, I find it rather useless writing papers in general. We should be out there exploring the world, using knowledge and applying it to solving real-life problems than sitting on our behinds and quoting someone else. It makes the whole higher education rather pointless.
