    learning vocabulary?Mr ? I think that we only "study“ vocabulary in HK.

    I wonder if anyon in Hong Kong has such strong billingual languae skills... Ask former HK governor David Wilson to speak Mandarin to the level of Chip Tsao's spoken English.... But I am sure that with Wilson's poor Mandarin, Hon Kong people will give a big "like" to him while belittling Chip's good English...

    Of course, he is not native, as he is speaking some kind of Queen's/old-style standard English, which is free from any regional accent. In Britain, there are over 25 regional accents, and a lot of native accents like Geordie and Cockney are very difficult to understand for American natives. 就好似將“你”讀(NEI),全部冇港式NATIVE嘅懶音,咁咪吾NATIVE囉。

    He said that writing simple English is easy and accessible to every reader...s....
    I think he has been staying in Hongkong for too long and has no chance to speak English for some time.

    唔知系咪我水平問題,我總覺得中文大體上來講較精煉,而我睇啲英文新聞有時會覺得啲句子好累贅。

    prolegpw, Learning vocabulary can be fun and that's why you should not "study" English in HK.
