Nice to hear that they eventually found out that it's not straightline speed that was helping Farfus in the fast section, but aerodynamic grip. Also, according to Jan Seyffarth, the M6 can go flat through Flughafen (Nordschleife) which the AMG can't do. Add dirty air to that and it gets really difficult to catch up to the M6 over some fast turns.
So many people are complaining how boring the race is. I have always compare this circuit to the Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst Australia. The narrow street section resembles that of the hill section in Bathurst. It's not about overtaking but to navigate through all the corners flawlessly: the steering timing must be precise; managing such power on the undulating surface is quite a feat even for professional drivers; maintaining the grip while trail braking downhill requires seriously finest touches. I really wish this circuit is added to more racing sims so that I could have a go in it. My only complaint would be that I wish the race be longer. A five hour endurance race in Macau would definitely introduce more dramas and overtakes.

Well said! These drivers are the best of the best. They know when it is safe to overtake and when to wait. This fact alone makes them top-notch drivers. Farfus drove perfectly and gave up zero chances to overtake. Just incredible.

Great camera angles and sounds helps with this type of racing. He was struggling with the tyres towards the end, will be interesting to see if Porsche will take a win for a change this year 2023.

Pretty obvious that BMW is pulling away in straight line. Those AMG’s isn’t fast enough to catch the BMW. But overall it’s good race to watch, it has bmw, Merc, Porsche, Audi and GTR~👍🏼
Mercedes weren't going too bad, a Merc set fastest lap of the race and Mercs came in 2nd and 3rd, but yes, the BMW and its driver Augusto Farfus was just too good.

@bovalveyt Yeah, even NASCAR is not as competitive like it used to be due to bullshot health n safety regs, and Nascar was the one motor racing circuit that was relaxed you could say fuck it and go wild.
69 liken Alfa Romeo dominated the DTM touring car racing from 1991 to 1995 totally...German race cars had no challenge... Alfa Romeo dominated the British touring car and the WTCC from 1994 to 2005! This is a different competition but i believe Alfa Romeo with the Giulia QV could do well.

Perhaps, but at least it's not the Daytona 500 where it's too easy to pass. The 2011 race had 74 lead changes, never mind the more than 1,000 passes in total among the rest of the field. It's like Macau and Daytona are at opposite extremes of the spectrum. Perhaps Motorsport needs to find a middle ground. ;-)
Exactly, it's a brilliant track especially for the drivers, the adrenaline you could get here is similar to that of the Nurburgring, and you don't get lots of overtake there either but every driver loves it anyways.

Project Gotham Racing e-sports was a straight up joke. You had to bounce of the wall during braking, otherwise you just weren't quick enough.
