  • My first attempts at sapphire fossicking. I was lucky enough to meet Beau, an experienced fossicker, who was kind enough to give me a great introduction and many insights into the techniques of sapphire fossicking. Even though I wasn't successful in finding any sapphires, I learnt so much from him that I am confident that with more practise, I will find some. As Beau says, "the more rocks you put through, the more heavies you will find."
I am sure that viewers, particularly those new to fossicking, will find something of use here.
Grabben Gullen Creek is found about two hours south west of Sydney and a bit more than an hour from Canberra.
Special thanks to Beau and Dave for being so accomodating and helpful in letting me record this adventure.

Glad you enjoyed it. There seem to be quite a few places in NSW that are accessible even for us older folk.

Ive done lots of rocking down the gg. Found diamonds pink and purple and alot of white. Lots of sapphires and zircon too. The biggest diamond was .75 of a crt and is a perfect octahedron. The purple is the best, though more of a cube shape. Still in the rough. Ill cut it one day when i get the balls

I think you can camp there. There are some nice flat spots right at the creek. You would have to check though.

Not a lot. Beau scored some small sapphires.
