Tucker received his mandatory with wins over McCall & Norris, had lost just one fight & never tasted the canvas, yet despite Lewis decking him twice & winning a unanimous decision, he received no credit whatsoever for this victory.
It shows more about a fighter having to grit out a win, as opposed to knocking out a cotton wool opponent inside a round & the odd criticism aside, this was a good victory for Lewis.

Yes, I think this is another great win by Lewis. When he fought Tyson, his right hand was broken. Probably, this is the better and more experienced version of Tucker.

@@kalas2320 tuckers hand was hurt not broken, this tucker was out of Prime. Tyson fought Prime Tucker. U see here clearly if lewis met tyson before he went to jail lewis would get oneshoted with ease.

@@Ehrle6969 From Boxrec fight report in his interview, "My right hand was broken when I fought him. I knew Tyson couldn’t beat me ..." He fought Tyson on 1987-08-01 and took two years to (I reckon) heal his broken hand. His next fight was on 1989-12-12 and went on unbeaten for 14 fights including the win against Oliver McCall. This Tucker version is definitely not his peak but not too far from the peak imo as there is tradeoff between power and experience. As for the Tyson's what-ifs, I don't have any opinion because it is gonna be an endless debate. But I am quite sure that Lewis will never fear him and that is the most decisive factor in fighting peak Tyson.

Yes he did, he'd always put it on the line instead of avoiding potentially difficult challengers, they said he shouldn't have fought Ruddock & Golota, yet blew them away, could be guilty of complacency but when focused he was a very good fighter.

Tyson ducked a whole of people unlike Lewis. Lewis fought top contenders Tua, Rahman, Morrison, Briggs, Klitichko, etc. He wanted to fight Riddock Bowe, but Bowe wanted no parts of Lewis. I think the same was Foreman.

But fortunately for him he does what he knows he needs to do instead of what the talking heads think. Then Lewis demonstrated real maturity in not getting frustrated and going all out. Maybe not the most exciting fight but at the end of the day it's about winning, not entertaining.

Same entry music Lewis used for Holyfield--very soothing I must say...It's hard to compare 2 fighters just by looking at them, but Lewis--for as big as he was--seems to be in the same speed ballpark as Larry Holmes. And, in Larry's young years/prime VS Lennox's young years/prime, Lennox was much bigger. It's scary when a fighter is that big, is that fast, has great KO power, was the best cutting puncher of all time, and was one of the greatest power counterpunchers of all time(if his 2 counter-uppercuts connected, it meant that it was over--never saw anyone come close to getting up from those)!

@@peterhaye8537 I'd give Tyson a 'puncher's chance', but Lewis did demolish Ruddock, which Tyson had trouble doing. Tyson of course just had the speed and power game, no actual jab. It's definitely not for certain he'd have beaten a younger Lewis. For sure as their careers went along Tyson lost a bit of speed and didn't have much to fall back on; Lewis just got better and better under Steward.

Another late stoppage. These referee n cornerman of Tucker should have their licences taken away/revoked for their uncaring behavior.

Both guys were cautious counter punchers which made it a dull fight.
