"Oh you're American ? We have universal healthcare here." Yup, most of the world DOES react that way.
Yes, every country in the world knows this. And series like New Amsterdam, The Resident, The Good Doctor, Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Med, ER,.... they show us plain and simple your reality!
There is no other developed country in the world that would deny anyone medical treatment when needed.
Oh wait, Australia does deny medical treatment to refugees held in indefinite detention without charge or court opportunity... but I like to hope that's just a temporary case of malevolent insanity and not something permanent.
In Finland we have to pay a little money for a doctors visit (unless it's work related because companies have to have a deal with either a private company or the public healthcare to just exist), but if you are unemployed you can get it reinbursed from social security
Don't go to Australia illegally then..
No one has a "right" to go live in Amy country.
@@danielread8549 - Bob Menzies signed us up to the UN refugee treaty that specifically makes any arrival for the purpose of seeking asylum legal. They have committed no crime.
If we're not going to live up to our commitments we should have the backbone to withdraw from the treaty.
I was in Austria in the early 90's. I had a craving for chocolate late at night. And nowhere was open. No 24 hour stores. For a few days, I was so annoyed at how inconvenient life in Europe was.
I mentioned this to a coworker who asked if I enjoyed my call center job back in the states on the graveyard shift. I told him no. He then asked why I would expect others to work a shift I don't want to.
It was then that I realized how selfish and obsessed with convenience, regardless of the social cost, we Americans had become.
Night shift jobs are there for those who want or need them. I've needed Tylenol for our baby, and the only store available was a convenience store. And they are nice on long trips too. Bathroom breaks, fuel, and snacks. At one time they were a great source for directions.
@@jerrywhidby. - Austria has public restrooms open 24/7. As for Tylenol and snacks, plan ahead.
As for fuel, even Europe has 24/7 self-serve stations. Otherwise, you are just reinforcing what I am saying, trying to justify convenience, by claiming people must want to take those minimum wage jobs, instead of more necessary and lucrative night jobs, to give you candy.
I've not been to Austria but it's probably different now, although bear in mind that the worker would have vastly better conditions in Austria than the US. Such as 25 days of annual leave, plus 13 days of national holiday, all paid for a total of 38.
Usually petrol stations are good for desperate situations such as a pint of milk or painkillers because they need to be open. If you're travelling, they tend to be easy to find.

Same with tipping, the fact that certain jobs don't get a fixed salary but has to live off of the good-will of people is just one step away from slavery.

To be fair, plenty of countries with universal healthcare still have insurance too, since UHC doesn't necessarily cover everything or rather it doesn't necessarily cover all the costs in full. Really expensive things might only be covered partially, still better than nothing but there's still some value in having 3rd party insurance as an extra if you can afford it.
Seriously, coming from India, I'm glad I'm on the other side of the world from USA.
I'm from Spain but I spent three years living in the US and even though I knew I'd have a culture shock I didn't expect it to be so huge. The fact that there are seminars and trainings talking about what to do in case of a shooting was bizarre but it wasn't the worst. I also knew about American's ignorance about the world, about the lack of universal healthcare, the cost of studying and everything. I even kinda knew people drive everywhere but I was stopped and questioned once by the police because I was walking and they found it suspect. I was simply going on foot to the movie theater where I was gonna meet my friends. I had to explain who I was, what I was doing, where I was going...and luckily I had my passport, my national ID, my college ID...every possible identification.
Another weird thing was when I called out a guy in a bar who was talking shit about Latinos and harassing a few people, complaining because they spoke "Mexican" and they should learn "American" and go back to their country and whatnot. In a perfect English accent I told him the languages were Spanish and English, they were European languages just like his family was obviously originally from Europe because he was whiter than a glass of milk and he was also an ignorant peasant.
Finally, once I wasn't allowed into a bar in San Francisco because I didn't have the right ID. Apparently they accepted state IDs or driver licenses, but I don't drive and I'm not from CA. I had my passport with me though, with my visa in i and everything t, but they would not accept it as valid ID and they even questioned it was real because the door guy said he had never heard of a country named Spain and my name sounded Mexican.
This can`t be real! I refuse to believe it. No.no.no.... *facepalm

I live on Portugal and it is arguably the least racist country in Europe but me being black I get stopped msny time to check my id, licence etc... But it never happen when I am with my wife who is white. Everytime I want to go to a bank I have to go with my wife because the way they talk to me is completely different depending if I am with her or not. That thing you said happened to you happened to me in Frankfurt. I was in the airport in transit waiting for boarding so I decided to take a walk in the duty free shops and a Cop came a told me to follow him to the office... Once there I asked why and the man told me because I was walking arround...

@@1individeo I don't know why it happened to you. And I dont assume to know. I can tell you that part of the Bundespolizei's job is actually to profile for foreigners. We have regular state police they should not do that and we have federal police, these guy patrol borders and trains and ports and trainstations and airports. One of their jobs is to look for registered asylum seekers or denied asylum seekers, as they are not allowed to leave their registered city.
So they look for foreign appearance and clothes and the language that is spoken...
Also I am half Portuguese. my Family is from Montemor-o-Velho. I can guaranty you that Portuguese people are just as racist as every people. The Portuguese people from my Fathers village don't even Consider 'brown people ' from Algarve as Portuguese but Moors.
My wife moved from America to Australia 15yrs ago. She couldn't believe the difference.
She went for a job at a Subway store 3 months after arriving here, and they offered her $23 an hour. She almost fell off her chair. That was 15yrs ago. Since then, she's been earning well over $100,000 a year as a managing director of a student accommodation building.
She was shocked by our free health care. Blown away when she saw women walking around parks at night, alone.
She swears she will never go back to the states, not even for a holiday. She surrendered her US passport and became a naturalised Aussie after being here for 4yrs. She loves it here.

Giving up her US citizenship was smart. US is one of 2 countries worldwide that requires cutizens to pay taxes and submit tax returns even if theyre permanently living overseas

She never wants to go back to America anyway, not even to visit family. LOL.
In my country, we also walk on parks whenever we please. There's no mass shooters, no school shooters, and the only things we need a prescription for are antibiotics and heavy drugs. Family doctors are absolutely free and if you have a job and medical insurance (my wife has it while I don't have it and I still have a family doctor for free). I think that everything you need is covered by your own or by your spouse's medical insurance. Of course, the quality of the services aren't the same as the ones one would pay heavily for but one can get back healthyl for almost free. My wife works as a selling person at a very (tiny) store and she can (using solely her not-so-high income) pay gas, electricity, and everything it is needed for our house while still having half of her paycheck available.. We don't borrow money from banks (though we did have 3 or 4 small personal loans before). Oh, and at my child's school we pay around 23-30 USD every year, otherwise it is completely free.

Facts!!! I'm a black man that lived in Kriegsfeld Germany for 10 years and Perth Australia for 6, and I honestly felt a hell of alot more free in those countries than I do here back in the states. And yes I'm going back to Germany 🇩🇪 permanently this summer.

Your comment saddened me. We are all humans, whatever colour, race, religion etc. I know that there are still some idiots who believe there is a difference but it seems to be more prevalent in America than elsewhere in the world.

Let me add one little story about a different US mentality I encountered. I was a German Language teacher for foreigners for 6 years in Munich. Every time someone in my courses said something well in German I said "Good" or "Well done" (in German language of course since Language classes in Germany are taught solely in German from minute one). But when I did the same with US students, they looked confused and even sad. At one point one of them told me that "good" was a "below average" assessment of something, and for them the bare minimum of a valid and positive compliment was "amazing". In Germany that's completely different. The biggest compliment you will get here is the absence of criticism, and "not bad" is actually high value.
That must be a millennial or gen Z thing. Gen X was perfectly happy with good.

When I was teaching English at the DAI in Tübingen 40 years ago, I don't remember ever effusively congratulating my students. It would have been sort of insulting, as if they were such insecure morons that they needed to be praised for conjugating a verb, etc. When I came back to the States and taught my idiot landsmen, I did find myself complimenting them more, but only because learning anything at all was so much harder for them.
I'm a Hungarian, and that's the same here. The "not bad", is actually quite a nice compliment. Like you got a car, and people be like "Not bad, noice, you are handy, well done".
Over here in the east of England we would be tripping if someone told us we looked ok. That’s a high compliment. Not bad is by definition, good. I guess when you don’t hear negative feedback because it’s hella rude,you learn a new norm.
Interesting thing is that I have seen Americans get really shocked when our military in Finland is having a training exercise in a middle of a city. That is totally normal here to see military having one and carry their guns around even in the central Helsinki sometimes. That is because they are training around the actual areas they are tasked to protect in war time.
Lol. I'm from germany and I have never seen military exercises in civilian territory.
Here they use training sets for such occasions.
I'm from Finland and I don't remember ever seeing such excercises in any city 😂
I remember when I had an oral exam with two buddies when I was in preps for engineering schools... There were militaries training for a case of terrorist attack in my highschool.
I can tell you it is difficult to focus on your math exercice while having a FAMAS pointed at you and a trainer explaining his troops how to move from the corridor to the classroom... 😂

Are you American? How do you know we're self centered? Aren't there naive people in every country? To think otherwise is ignorant. Many of us are self centered because America is the world's superpower. America is the most grandiose country that is known for its versatility in cultural backgrounds and the ease in which money is made.
Um people keep talking about America. I think it's weird that we receive so much attention. Ignore us for all I care. I would be happy if we just minded our own business.
The world doesn’t understand how many people here in the US would gladly pull back from the world stage, including when there’s any natural disaster wherever in the world we end up sending our navy and hundreds of millions of dollars. We can’t afford it anymore. And people hate us so much already. Take care of yourselves or go ask China for help. We need to pull all of our troops home from everywhere. Take care of yourselves.

I always remember sitting in the waiting room of a walk in medical centre (here in the UK) when a lady with a child came out of one of the examination rooms and went to the reception and asked in an American accent about payment and insurance etc. The receptionist explained that even for foreigners there's no charge for emergency treatment which includes walk in centres. The lady then asked if there would be a charge at the pharmacy for the prescription she'd been given for her son and the receptionist told her prescriptions were free for children. What really hit me was that the American lady when she turned to leave was kind of biting her lip looking as though she was about to burst into tears.
I honestly feel sorry for Americans.....Like everyone loves to make fun of American ignorance, but some things are just sad.......People having to work 3 or 4 jobs, get massive loans, work long hours, remortgage or sell their house all because of a costly hospital visit that wouldn't happen in a lot of other countries. I mean there are economically developing countries (old term is 3rd world) that have better health care setups than U.S.A.
Um she had insurance and enough money to go to Europe. The lip biting, if real, was likely for her son.
@@SilentHotdog28 ask why our healthcare is expensive (without insurance). Doctors have to carry malpractice insurance. Which is very expensive. They pass the cost onto the patients. And drug companies give 3rd world countries huge discounts. Which are passed onto Americans. Europe told the drug companies to stick it when they tried that. It's all far more complicated than it is made out to be. Plus nothing is free. Your "free" healthcare is paid for in some way. Which just makes all of these comments seem disingenuous. Nothing is stopping Americans from getting together to negotiate prices. There is no need for the government. What they want is to force others who have money to participate even when they don't want to.

Most countries know that. The US has many advantages (if you have money - you are right about that). But the US seems like a nightmare if you have limited opportunities to earn.

I know a girl, her mom is a paramedic.
She was telling us one time, she had to deal with an American tourist (50y/o) who got hit by a car while riding a bike. Leg broken. He was freaking out about the bill as soon as they arrived and she had to explain to him during the ride that he did not need to pay for the ambulance and that the hospital would be free too. The dude spent the rest of the ride saying he was super happy he got hurt in France and not in the US. Legit happy. That was a strange day for her 🤣

About the shooting in the schools, the media don't relate a lot of the small shootings.It's troubling too see how almost all the americans are used to this . You should realize that in some country in Europe the average person do not see a weapon in his/her life time. I am in my mid thirties and i never saw a gun or know a person who saw a gun (except law enforcement).
I am a swed and I have only seen guns in the hands of police and the military. The exception is old flintlocks used by anactors and larpers.

I am Dutch 69 years old. Policemen have a gun in their holster but I never saw the actual gun. I knew a guy who owned a rifle for target shooting. His rifle however was securely stored at the shooting range. I vaguely remember that I was on a shooting range during an office trip. Everybody got a turn twice to try to hit the target. I saw only one gun there.
I'm a Finn, and only reason I've seen a lot of different real guns, tanks, artillery... all the good kind of equipment, and even got a chance to fire a real assault rifle and even some heavier non hand held weapon as part of training... yes. Because like most men who are Finn, I was called to service. As for civil life? Only seen the police carry one.... probably? They might not even carry one around at all times unless there is a reason to. Despite of 1/8 of Finns owning a gun... know why I've never seen them? Because we do not carry and wave them around like toys.

OK. You do not get antibiotics thrown at you in the pharmacies in Europe, but it is easy to get the description if you need it. Reason being that over-use of antibiotics creates all the multi-resistant strains.

I live in Panama, a third world country by the USA standards, and in my 25 years of life, I have never had or heard about any kind of gun threat or problem in any public or private school in the country.
I moved from Panama to the United States when I was 16. I’m 50 years old now and still feel like an outsider. When I got back to Panama it takes me a couple of days to calm down and relax.
The rest of the world sees America as a third world country.
Cracked me up when i went to the airports in the States, huge signs saying "All Weapons Must Be Declared!"
Go anywhere else in the world and their airports have exactly the same sign but it reads "All Weapons Are Prohibited!".
That's not true. All airports all around the world have "All weapons must be declared" signs. People go on hunting trips you know. Then there are security personnel. You would also want to be able to move personal firearms across borders if you have the necessary permits. You just have to "declare" them so they can be checked, documented and transported appropriately.
Based on my experience in Australia, People outside the US are treated as Humans rather than a commodity. You can feel it while talking to a police officer, airports everywhere. Public transport is way cheaper and much 1000 times more advanced than the US. Also, people are more aware of the world and the issues than the US.
Jitender, i remember white australians attacking Indian students and it didn't just happen once, it went on for years until Narendru Mody became president and threatened to send Indians students to america. after all its a country where white australians call indigenous australians coo.ns.
in Italy, if you do not take the holidays required by law, the state gives a very high fine to the company

How can anyone claim to be free when you can't even feel safe in your own home unless you're armed to the teeth? I've never been able to get my head around the idea that being able to have a arsenal of combat weapons means you're free. Wake up, fools! When everyone has access to that kind of weaponry then everyone becomes a prisoner in their own homes!

The thing is all over the world people consume American media. So we get feed information about American culture and American issues basicly. For example: a running gag here in Europe is that "Breaking Bad" wouldn't have happened anywhere else than the US.
On the other hand US Americans have to fight against language barriers, republican Propaganda about the red scare and the legend of American exceptionalism to overcome their ignorance about international issues.
But to me it seems more and more Us Americans like you slowly are overcoming this, thanks to the internet and cultural exchange that gets easier and easier in a globalized world.

@@erikelenstrom9685 most people in the rest of the world speak English (as a first or second language). But most Americans only speak 1 language. Therefore it is easier for others to consume American media. And it is more difficult for Americans to consume media from foreign countries

While In the US, they usually don't even learn a second language at all, because they do not even travel outside their country.
A foreign language gives you insight into other culture and mindsets, as a level of independency. With only one single language, that is closed off.

I think that it's also a cultural thing that americans to a very high degree only consume american media.
In many other countries media from other countries with languages that is not commonly understood is often consumed but with subtitles, or sometimes dubbed.
Hi. I live in Sweden and the other day I had to get a coloscopy. In the room at the hospital I saw all this machines and gadgets. I had two persons working my case. A nurse and a doctor and they worked for 30 minutes. All I had to pay was 200 SEK (about 20 dollars). Universal healthcare is the greatest. Ok we pay taxes but we actually get something back.
in the US try navigate the millions of health insurance and figure out on your own what is covered and what isn't.over there you need to be on top of every medical bill. the second you forget , consider yourself lucky if you are sending your paperwork to small court claim because they pawn that sheit to random bailiffs.
the US is the only country where i saw people laid on the gurney trying to free themselves because theydidn't want to be wheeled to hospital with the ambulance because of how prohibitive that is.
i have had way better medical treatment in Nairoby/Kenya than in the US . and not badmouthing.
My colleague and I were on a business trip from the UK to the USA. We were taken out to a bar in the evening by some people we were working with. At the door, a guy asked us for ID. The doorman and friends were surprised that we had none on us and we never normally bothered carrying ID in the UK. I've never been asked for ID in Europe either, except for immigration and car hire.
This varies from country to country. I know that ID cards are compulsory for Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal ... . However, you don't have to show your ID to everyone. The only obligation is to a police officer, but you don't have to talk to him or answer any questions.
A bouncer can ask you for proof of age if you look too young for a bar, dicotheque, buy alcohol, etc., but if you look grown up, then he won't do that.
I've only been asked for an ID while buying alcohol (off premise)
Yes in Germany we need to have an ID, but we don't have to carry it around. We just generally need to have an ID or passport, one of the two, somewhere. But I do carry it with me, because I look very young and I get asked to give my ID when buying alcohol f.e. Driving license would work too of course, it doesn't need to be your national ID, but I don't have one.
@@wanderwurst8358 Here (Finland) the clerks at supermarkets and the one official alcohol retailer (Alko) are technically required to check your age if you look under thirty. As a person not yet thirty, I always feel sad when I'm not asked for ID 😅

Feels like completely different world when you can walk around any part of your city at night with no worry. Done that occasionally even as a kid and never felt unsafe outside at night. I have been asked so often by friends from the US what I am doing to celebrate July 4th. I am English. Do schools in the US teach anything about history? The war of Independence was a British civil war with English people on either side fighting for so-called representation. In 1776 no average man could vote...not for 200 years! and even then, men had to agree to enrol in the army as part of the deal. Women fought for longer but didn't have the same conditions of voting. In fact the only people opposed to women getting the vote were women!

i am surprised at how they think that only America has certain things such as phones or other technology, but at the same time they think everybody celebrates their holidays. i had a conversation online with a girl who was shocked to learn i dont celebrate halloween or valentines day or 4th of july. she told me i was a liar because i told her that we celebrate Christmas with a pool party because its summer. i guess she never learnt that there is a Southern Hemisphere with opposite seasons.

I assume you were in America when they asked you about July 4th. They probably just meant what are your plans. We are aware that it is our independence day from England. And the notion of having rights based on being a property holder was inherited from England. We did eventually grow out of it. It isn't as if England had some great enlightenment long before America was colonized. The Occidental countries learned together.
I’m surprised that the US isn’t on the list of dangerous countries to visit. My husband and I have spent time in South America and had a lovely time. We traveled around using the same transportation as the nationals. We lived a year in Columbia. Of course we were careful, but people were so welcoming. We rented a small house in the same village as some friends of ours who were Colombian. It was pure culture shock when we returned. If we didn’t have all our children and grandkids in the states, we would have stayed there.
I am American and have traveled extensively to 92 countries and live in another country and the only place I am wary and very cautious is on rare visits to the US. Every time I returnm every 5-6 years for a few weeks the change is dramatic with more regulation more controls more poverty, more expensive and more dangerous. Knowing that every third person walking down the street has a concealed gun is not reassuring.
So strange that you say this… it’s kinda off that America sucks so bad, yet we have the highest immigration numbers in the world? Why would so many people be literally willing to give their life for, to come here?

Every country knows this. An Italian nurse said 'you must be from the States' to me when I asked her how much the visit cost. It cost nothing. They gave me meds. That was 4 years ago. I never left.
That lady speaking about getting stuff from the pharmacy, that's something that wouldn't happen everywhere - not for financial reasons, but for health reasons. Superbugs are a huge problem and the overuse of antibiotics is a major factor, not to mention the fact that you can't just take any antibiotic, it has to be specifically targeted to kill the bacteria that's causing you a problem. Broad spectrum antibiotics exist, but not only do they not work for everything, it's not at all common for you to be able to get them over the counter without a prescription. You _will_ get what you need, but you need to visit the doctor first. Pharmacists are not doctors and it's incredibly irresponsible to sell medicine without having the patient's medical history, allergies, possible susceptibility to side effects... If anyone actually sold something that specific to that lady her life might have been placed in danger.
A "simple" anaphylactic shock caused by a drug someone is seriously allergic to can indeed cause death and the person who only wanted to treat a tooth infection may die because of the wrong antibiotic. My ex wife was allergic to penicillin and I am trained to properly react to an anaphylactic shock.
I personally witnessed one of my uncles died from a combination of two medicines, one given by one doctor and the second one given by a second doctor who didn't know that my uncle was on treatment with something else.

I had my American friend over to stay with us in the UK for 6 weeks when near the end of his time with us he fall and broke his ankle. He was so scared about going to the A&E at the hospital. We took him they sorted him out and there of was no request for payment which he didn't understand. He also couldn't believe he was able to legally drink because he was only 19years old, he also was shocked that you couldn't buy guns and that we didn't have guns in our home. Bless him.

Facts. I was wait for this comment. People think it’s ok to just get antibiotics pain meds birth control just like that without an Rx. Meds can have side effects that you don’t know of and that’s why there is a need to consult a doctor. What if the birth control makes you bleed or spot all the time. Some antibiotics can cause a yeast infection then they will need something else for that. Sounds to me like a whole lot of self diagnosing and popping pills.
As for bacterial resistance, I wonder how intensive beef and poultry farmers behave in the States: whether they use antibiotics to prevent infections among crowded animals, and how long before the slaughterhouse they suspend treatment. Basically, even if a person uses antibiotics in moderation and only on medical prescription, then he finds them on his plate. The same goes for hormones to increase muscle mass in animals.

No it's not. For every one of these people, there are 100 people back in the US who think "universal healthcare is hell, I don't wanna pay for you" and "if it's free it's bad" and "don't take my gunzzz, I need my freedomzzzz".
I was working in Toronto and I fell in my shower and dislocated my shoulder. I popped it back in, bought a sling and some Tylenol on the way to work, and just planned on dealing with it. They made me go to an urgent care on my lunch. I thought there was no way I’d be able to get in and out within my 30 minute lunch, but I was out in 15 min with a full work up, better sling and real pain meds, and it only cost $60 total. Virtually zero percent chance of everything going that smoothly in the US, even with insurance.

She tried to refuse because she thought she'd have to pay, and was told to 'shut up and get in'. She was treated and sent on her way rejoicing. I paid for it out of my taxes, I'm happy about it, I am a die-hard Tory.

Unfortunately, every country knows about America’s health system and how expensive it is and how sad it is for those who cannot afford antibiotics whenever they need them. It’s also apparent how most Americans defend change, irrespective if it’s a good change or not including universal health by shouting about loosing their freedoms. The saddest thing I’ve heard on this video is that there are guns on display at supermarkets for anyone to purchase. The UK have guns legally too however, you have to have a bloody good reason to have one and jump through hoops to get a licence. They are typically used by farmers to control wildlife from eating crops and not ordinary people. I know that if I happen to have an argument with a stranger on the street, then both of us know that neither of us are likely to pull a gun on the other!
And I know that if my wife is about to be graped, or there is an intruder at our rural home she is protected. Doesn't Britain now have a knife, car, and acid problem? The number of homicides in Australia where a gun was used in a mass murder has increased in the last 10 years since the ban. But also the means of murder have diversified. Where there is a will there is a way.
In Spain the first time I went to the ER was before I got residency and they actually appologised to me because I would have to pay for my treatment. Including xrays, antibiotics and painkillers for a TI (that I had gotten at a music festival in Hungary) my bill was 107 euros.
fun fact of Italy when the police stop you? You can argue with them. You don't know how many times it happens. And you can do it even when they do checkpoints and usually one checks your documents and one stays near the car with the machine gun in hand (not towards you but upwards). Never been afraid.

There was a time a few years ago where Europe had a series of islamist terror attacks. Hamburg (Germany) had police officers with rifles at the central train station for some time as a precaution. The only thing I've ever seen them doing was telling a friend of mine that smoking isn't allowed in the station.😅

I've watched many reactions of South Koreans teens and millenials reacting to PSA announcements for gun violence and shootings and drugs and I find their reactions fascinating because I have grown to love and know the Asian culture. They don't have those types of problems in Asia really( at least far as I've watched ). It's not something they deal with. They have also watched an episode of Euphoria and seeing how teens deal with highschool life and the drug scenes really surprised them because in SK their entire goal is studying and getting into a college. It's truly amazing to me.
American arrogance has also caused A LOT of damage overseas. Even with the Armed Forces stationed over there. So much that as a new arrival, my 1st Sergeant had a briefing with us where he said something about whether or not you are wearing a uniform, you are an ambassador to your country. I was in the worst pain from a uti and my landlady gave me one pill 💊 from her Russian pharmacy in Denver for it so it ruined my test at the doctors office the next morning. The doctors office wouldn’t give me antibiotics and the next morning I was crying in pain.
I ended up having a urinary tract infection all year. It’s been two years now. I still get it but drink cranberry juice. It can be very painful and has probably gone to my kidneys. I hate the USA medical system so much including Medicare. I always have a bad and expensive experience and they do nothing unless the insurance companies approve it.
The last time I had a really good experience at the doctors was 20 years ago in Australia. The doctor was really a doctor and he spent an hour and a half with me and diagnosed asthma. It cost $50 Australian which was about $35ish u.s.

I got a stomach virus in Japan, saw an intestinal specialist, got a urine test and 2 blood tests done, they gave me three prescriptions, then I walked out and got the scripts and went on my way all without insurance in about 3 hrs and about $100 (Japan does have an insurance system it's just much much better so it does cost money but far less than in the u.s.)

My dad is American but he moved to France to live with my mom 30-ish years ago. Both my parents retired recently, and they were talking about where to live as they grew older, my dad started looking into medicare because at his age he is entitled to it, and my mom is all about making sure no one misses opportunities offered by our status as multi-country people, so they figured he might as well sign up for it and have the health security in America as well as what he gets in France. Long process short it took months and then my mom took one look at the bill (which had to be sent to me because they wouldn't mail it to a non-American address I showed it to them through a video call) and said "honey cancel that and we're staying in France" And my dad nodded and glanced at me with a "I knew this would happen but your mom didn't think it would be this bad" sort of look. I won't tell you how much it was here, but my mom thought it was okay until she realised it was a monthly bill and not a yearly one (to be clear because he didn't get an American salary for the 30 years he lived in France he doesn't get certain reductions that other US senior citizens would get which would make it slightly more affordable. but even then in France he gets free coverage for most things as a French resident without even counting advantages for seniors)
Reminds me of the documentary "Where to Invade Next" by Michael Moore. No homework in Finland and they have the best K-12 educational system in the world. No processed foods served in schools in France. Paid vacations in Italy and Germany, and paid maternity leave too. No drug laws in Portugal, yet drug use is around 2% of the population. As a retired Veteran, it made me feel ashamed for being an American after seeing that documentary. You may need to do a reaction to that.

The fact that you and the girl in South Korea are shocked that you are able to use box cutters in school for art projects needs to give you something to think about: namely that Americans have an affinity to violence. They had only one thing in mind the whole time: to return to America. I'm pretty sure, despite being black, they voted for Trump. You are either for or against hate. And they loved hate. Racism was just an integral component to their hate, irregarding at what end.

What a breath of fresh air it was to live for several years in France and find that I could have wonderfully open conversations in which I and the other person(s) disagreed with each other - but no one got "triggered" and had to loudly "defend their viewpoint" and "cancel" each other because we simply had a "different opinion." How humane and mature it felt compared to here in southern California.

In Scotland, you have to see a doctor to get things like antibiotics prescribed. So you do need that extra step. But the doctor and the prescription are both free. I'm guessing the girl in Egypt, although getting them with just a visit to the pharmacy, would have to pay over the counter prices.
Some countries don't seem to care about antibiotic resistance, making the world more dangerous for everyone.
In all the EU ( we miss you Scotland 😔) you can't buy antibiotics without a prescription.

The doctor and hospital thing gets me every time… I have lived in South Korea for 10 years and it still gets me when I get hurt and they order xrays, I’m like no no I’m fine I don’t need an xray… but they insist and then I am sweating going to pay, and it be like $14 (and 16,000korean won)… you go and get your meds and it like $3 (4,000korean won)

Had to look it up on a statistics website because it is so rare in Germany and Europe in general. Over the time of 20 years Germany had less than twenty incidents with shooters at school, churches, etc. with less than 200 victims. In 20 years! With a population of a bit more than 80 million people we have about 300 murders/year. Than I looked at the US and they had over 20,000 people in 2021 dying to gun violence alone. You guys are living in danger.

After watching you for a couple of months now, it's been great to see you grow as you learn just how much the U.S does wrong compared to basically every other developed country in the world. I sympathize with you hearing all these terrible comparisons shining a negative light on your home country that you obviously love. But I was a little stunned to hear you say you've checked out of the political process.
I wouldn't dream of telling you what to do, but if you want to see the U.S catch up with the rest of the world on things you seem to care about like healthcare and the treatment/pay of workers, the only way to correct those wrongs is to be politically active. It doesn't take much. Just a couple of hours every election cycle (probably a similar amount of time as editing one video every couple of years) to really take a good look at candidates (local, house/senate, presidential) and make sure you're voting for the folks who actually care about the things you do (people like Bernie Sanders and Nina Turner) and help to elect them from the primaries to the generals. If you find someone you really like, make sure to take a couple of friends with you to the polling station to ensure your vote really counts.
I enjoy watching your content, but i'm starting to worry a little that you aren't learning as much as it seems and instead brush off these pretty important problems as entertainment.
No offence intended here, of course. Just wanted to offer a little friendly advice. It's up to you. But if you want to see things change, you have to at least take part. Things aren't going to get any better unless folks who know what needs to be done are doing their part. Just a suggestion. Hope you don't mind :)

@@richardshillam7075 I'm not too surprised he liked repubs. When you're not paying attention, it's easy to pick the wrong team. I mean, a couple of videos ago he admitted he didn't even know who Bernie was. It's clear that he wasn't into politics at all.
But now he's seen the difference politics can make, he's in a much better position to make an informed decision.
Plus I believe everyone should be encouraged to vote...not just if they're voting for "my team" (I don't have a team, but you know what I mean). I'd just rather people educated themselves on policy first, and preferably the sincerity of the candidate too
To be honest I get it. He probably likes a few things about either party and dislikes others. It‘s just weird that the US only has two parties and the whole democratic system is shit. I think I wouldn’t enjoy being part of that either

Besides, most of them are too uninterested in politics. Most just vote for whatever party their close circle votes for. No self-education on which candidate would be best for their needs. That is why AOC - the closest thing to european policy making - is climbing up the political ladder in slow motion. Book burnings = freedom of speech. School shootings = Right to bear arms. The period thing is interesting. I'm from Germany, but I spent a year in New Zealand and the whole year I didn't have even the slightest bit of menstrual pain! Here in Germany I have really bad cramps. Don't know why the difference was so big, but probably not the water, as our water is very striktly regulated.

I really liked the reaction. I'm from Australia, it has been very educational, as I thought USA had good health care and other benefits for citizens. I feel lucky I live in oz, I had just previously had 9 months off work, For 3 surgeries in last past year. Also getting 100% wages paid. We also have very good maternity leave here for both parents that is paid. Thanks keep up the good work

In other countries there are much striicter regulations and there are not weapons in every home.

What blows my mind is how expensive giving birth is in US. Cesarean section is more expensive compared to normal birth, but here in my country that is just Php 50,000 (Public Hospitals) and will just go up if you choose private hospitals that are just around 960UD. If you have healthcare insurance that is next to no bill at all. Crazy.

There has been only one school shooting in Austrailia. A whole new set of laws were put in place immediately after that.

I think i got one to top it all, currently living in America and in Dec of 2021, i was diagnosed with testicular cancer, now I went through the surgerys and treatments, I have one more surgery to remove a lymph nod thats infected and were not sure if its Cancer, Necrosis or Taritoma but needs to come out and this surgery is very rare, so they gave me a doctor out of state who specializes in these surgerys and my insurance company is refusing to cover me cause they have other doctors. My doctors are going to debate with them and hopefully overturn the dissuasion but I can say I feel jaded and feeling like there cheaping out so they can give me a less qualified doctor to do the procedure to save a few bucks

Yes, we all know you Americans think your health service is superior. I had treatment plus an op to put 2 stents in the veins to my heart, plus medication. Years later I end up with 10 week stay, scans etc and double bypass op. Cost = zero. So what's good about your health service, given that my surgeon is the best guy in Britain?
The woman talking about how it's hard to find someone to go out with in America? That's actually more recent (last 10-15 years) and it is true in Canada too. I used to go out to the bar with my co-workers almost every week then, a few years later, we never, EVER went out. it was f*cking weird; however, it was a least partly because of a change in culture at our company.

1. We have all kinds of pain killers, contraceptives and medications just available on the shelf at an aisle in a drug store, like candies in a supermarket that you can grap and place in your shopping basket

My case - in hospital for 2 weeks due to bacterial infection, injected with 3 different types of antiobiotics 3 times a day, hospital food was decent, nurses and assistants came and took my temperature and blood pressure... then the hospital bill was less than USD200.

We now have "tele-health" here in Australia (due to the pandemic) and has now become a permanent thing, I only need to speak to my doctor over the phone to get a script for any meds that I might need, they can either send you a QR code to your phone or fax the script to your local pharmacy. A face-to-face consult is only necessary if really needed. Most of my meds cost around $5. The call/doctors appointment is FREE.
With the woman from Romania, you have to bear in mind the age difference. She's what, in her thirties, maybe early forties? You're, I would guess, in your early/mid twenties? So you're still at the party age, plenty of stamina, plenty of energy, lots of social events and mixing. For older people, going out, being able to leave the kids with a sitter, having other people who want to do what you want to, it's something you look forward to the whole week.
