Could be, but the genetic freaks in armwrestling don’t always look the part. Todd Hutchings, for example, has extraordinary leverages for the sport and can smash much larger guys, but you wouldn’t call him a major prospect until you saw his results on the table. A guy like Larry Wheels can have a long hand, old results with grippers, and proven overall body strength, and heavy ped usage and underperform in the sport. Same with Andrey Smaev, who Devon used to mention as the guy with the biggest potential outside of armwrestling. Even on the practice table (especially if it’s being filmed and broadcast) you can’t really tell potential. We need to see them in a real match. Bear in mind Brian has a big name, reputation, connections, and broad social media presence, so people have an especially big incentive to hype him up and generally ingratiate themselves to him.

The specific ligament strength is what is missing and what takes time. If Brian Shaw takes his time at it he has a better chance. I wouldn't go right for the top, I'd take at least a year and half of competing and work my way up, if I was in his position. Armwrestling is technical and the strength is very specific muscle groups and tendons, on top of the rest. So he has the base to aim for a superheavyweight title, but not yet the development needed. He's a freak though, so who really knows where he will fit in the ranking? But a lot of the development is the actual competition and meet ups, there's some things you can't get from the gym.

I know Brian is Brian but he's not an arm wrestler yet. Don't hype him too much before he's even tested. I still believe one thousand percent that Devon will be the first one to beat Levan since 2017. I don't want some genetic freak to be the best arm wrestler. I want hard work and technique to win. Not a crap shoot in the womb. I hope Eddie gets serious about Arm Wrestling too and absolutely destroys Brian when they face each other after they've both trained and had a couple of matches. Pretty sure Eddie still holds the world record for deadlift. Ed ain't no slouch.

    • @keanumcgill

I don't believe Devon will beat Levin, just based on history and the gap between the both, yet mind the age differences and prime. Idk if devon will ever beat levan at this point but yeah Brian is definitely getting overhyped before he pulls any matches or anything. Look what happened to Eric Spoto, Devon way overhyped him, and his first supermatch people were saying he was gonna destroy Ayello, then he lost, and because of that it seems like he lost motivation and kinda stopped. Hopefully that doesn't happen to Brian, he has great potential and we definitely want him to keep training.
