    I just installed 4 new fuel injectors in a 2.0 liter Honda (255,000 miles) and immediately had the long crank, stumble and then idled fine. I thought that one of the new Standard Motor Products injectors (from RockAuto) was leaking into the manifold but I'm going to try this same test (engine didn't have this issue with the Honda injectors I just pulled).

    I had a harness melted like that in my 2002 chrysler town and country. It was a mess. I wound up repairing the harness. One wire at a time I cut them respliced an soldered them in butt splices and shank glue-filled heat shrink over the splices. Everything was fine until I finally got rid of the car. Chrysler made that harness too long and suspended it above the exhaust manifold. When that fixture fails the harness drops down to touch or almost touch the manifold and the insulation melts, the wires short together and all kinds of misfires occur on one or multiple cylinders.
    Keep up the good work scannerdanner.

      Usually, returning faults on a cor/known issue is not wort getting used parts for.
      At work I am mainly on german cars so i change door locks all the time on Audis since there is a common fault. And 2 times ive been told to put on a used part and I've told that it wont last but the customer tought it was too expensive.
      1 mont later and the same issue but now a new part instead, we got paid twice of course since it was customers call but they wanted to save a few bucks and ended up paying 150% instead of 100% 😅

    Hey I have 2015 f250 6.2 gas truck that out of the blue started to blow white smoke on a start up. It clears up and seems to idle smoothly but under load it starts blowing smoke and missing. Then cleans up again in time. The laptop (buddy’s son) shows power down on #4 and #7 we checked for broken valve springs (common 6.2 issue) and checked cold compression (with an actual gauge) both #4 & #7 were in 180 psi while compared to #2 175 psi and #6 195 psi so within 10% but it does seem to consume oil. But the fact of the 6.2 consuming oil does not surprise my buddy son being (young ford tech). He is kind of stumped on what’s going on with the motor. Can I send you a video on the smoke? Thanks Jeff

    I can just hear the engineers now. Where should we locate this harness, well how about where there is no excessive heat, right next to the exhaust it is then, lol. Hey Scanner Danner a quick question. Why does that not blow the injector fuse? I had a Saturn S-series once that was shorted on the ground (switched) side, blowing the injector fuse. Seems weird with all those wires touching that there is no blown fuses.

NO codes after I fixed misfire in Cyl 2 by cleaning a very dirty stuck "closed" injector. However, the smoke remains . I believe one of my injectors are malfunctioning , giving too much gas . I put a note in the video on this ASD circuit. The key is understanding that this ASD relay circuit is NOT powered up with just the key on, as it also runs the fuel pump, so your test light can find a ground through the dead supply circuit and then thru the pump motor to ground

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @suckmyfinger100
    @suckmyfinger100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know I'm late but I replaced a stuck open injector and fuel pressure regulator on a 454 vortex so it's all good now but it's still blowing white smoke but doesn't smell like pungent gas anymore. Does this take a while to clear out because it's left over in the exhaust system or should I be looking for something else that's wrong. Another interesting thing is I pulled the fuel pump relay and the vehicle continued to run for another 10 minutes until I shut it off.

    • @ScannerDanner

      Different flow rates most likely? Not sure

    I have a 1996 GMC Yukon with a 5.7 and I get white smoke when vehicle is first started on cold days like below 45 degrees and below. Could this be a fuel injector problem also ? I have replaced upgraded my central port injection to multi port fuel injection about 5 years ago. It takes a long time to stop blowing white smoke compared to other cars on cold days only. Great video very informative.

      What does the white smoke smell like? This one, there was no mistake about it. It was as if you stuck your head into a container of gasoline

      I believe I smelled fuel. Right now today the fuel trim is like a -3 LTFT and close to 0 STFT.

      Definitely not the same issue, not with that clean of trim numbers warm

      Thanks for the reply SD I’ll keep an eye on it until it gets cold again. I will probably check for a leaking intake gasket when it’s cold again. 👍😎

    So my car is smoking a lot and I'm hoping that this is why and not the worst case scenario of a blown head gasket.
    A stuck open fuel injector would make me think that I should smell gas. Should I or not necessarily or not at all?

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely positivity no mistaking a stuck open injector! Complete raw fuel smell. If your guessing you may smell fuel, it's not the injector

    How long will it take for the white smoke to clear up i dont want it to catch fire

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner  ปีที่แล้ว

      It won't unless you have an exhaust leak. Not enough oxygen in the exhaust

    How can you tell if it’s a head gasket or a stucj injector

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you losing coolant? Is it overheating? A stuck injector will not cause these things. Also if it is a stuck injector, it smells like you dunked your head into a bucket of gasoline, that is how strong the gas smell is. If you have to question whether it is a gas smell or not, then it would not be an injector.

    Amazed there were not more fault codes looking at the mess the harness was in.

      It was because none of them were truly touching each other until I opened it up. Only the #5 injector control wire was touching a ground or ground wire in that loom

    Got a 2008 2.3 fusion I’ve been workin on , replaced the plugs, injectors, pcv valve and head gasket on it, still has a high idle at start and a rough idle once warmed up. No coolant loss or leaks, doesn’t seem to be misfiring, just lots of white smoke 💨, any ideas what it could be? I’m thinking the cylinder head is cracked at this point.

    • @ScannerDanner
      @ScannerDanner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      White smoke isn't good and neither is the rough idle when warm. An injector that is spraying constantly can give you white smoke but you'd also have a long crank time and a single cylinder misfire as well as fuel in the oil.
      Get a block tester kit (chemical) and test for the presence of CO2 in the cooling system

    Now what if you couldn’t find a harness. Fix all the wiring?
