We're obviously aware of and deeply concerned about the global pandemic, and are choosing carefully what to publish as forms of escapism and entertainment to help ease thoughts of anxiety, and provide an alternative from the news. We are obviously NOT encouraging anyone to travel now or discouraging social distancing.
Have you been to any of these airports?

Transport links to it are fine such as the 199 bus and the train service . Just a rather mediocre terminal 1 etc and the way they force you through the shopping area. Terminal 2 is nicer where I flew business class to HKG with CX and still feel it warrants better lounges as the UK's 3rd busiest airport. It is being improved though.

Don't get me started w/ Newark, I've only been there once and I experienced firsthand their crappy reputation. I returned from a study abroad semester in Europe four years ago and went to Newark for a layover under a tight schedule. The infrastructure was SO bad that not only those unprofessional idiots made me run in circles nor sent me to the check-in route where people would start their journey in lieu of a separate one for layover travelers, but also made me lose my flight and things verbally escalated a bit with security. Moral of the story: Avoid airports with crappy reputations for layover routes, especially under a tight schedule!

How did Edinburgh make the list of worst airports but not London Heathrow? Edinburgh isn't a bad airport. It's no worse than most regional American airports. I've been through Edinburgh many times. Since it's a small airport, immigration lines aren't that long and you don't have to walk 2 miles to baggage claim. The drop-off fee is a bit annoying for friends and family, but it does reduce congestion and encourages people to take one of the many excellent public transportation options to the airport. Despite the small size, I don't think I have ever had a delay of longer than 30 minutes in Edinburgh. None of which can be said for Heathrow. Getting from one terminal to another is a nightmare. BA is one of the most disorganized and uncaring airlines in the world. No amount of connection time is enough to feel comfortable. I could have a four hour connection time in Heathrow and still feel nervous.

My only nightmarish experience was at Madrid Airport. Hope to never set foot again there.
Spent a whole day inside this airport, and more than one hour inside the airplane while connecting to Lisbon. Provided no information at all regarding the flight delay, huge rows to check in your luggage, very bad information or even lack of it, as this airport is so huge that I almost got lost inside.

      @henkwilliemadriannusvander1955 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Agreed. I had a bad experience at Madrid Baraja as well. Delayed flight is not an airport fault, but at least the staff should be more considerate towards the passangers stuck in waiting.
The airport was packed, there were no seats available so I sat myself on the floor. I was about to doze off when a guard came and woke me up with his foot. He literally kicked my legs and asked me to show him my ticket. He can’t speak a word of English for which I found surprising for a person guarding one of the entrances to the country. I had to explain my predicament to him in my pidgin Spanish.
He finally left me alone and, to my horror, captured a bird seeking shelter from the rain and, with a few of his friends, proceeded to torture the bird by pulling its feathers off.
Another bad experience was at Leonardo da Vinci airport in Rome. A custom officer dropped and broke my video camera while inspecting my bag and he just acted as if nothing happened.
      Never again.

Surely, the one who did the research for this content hasn't been to nor heard about the Ninoy Aquino Int'l Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Metro Manila, Philippines. Some personnel specially those from the security/baggage check are quite notorious for putting some "eyed passenger" in a situation where one would never want to be in while catching a flight. They "milk" the passengers to avoid delays and to avoid the plotted investigation because of some serious violations a passenger never actually commited. In short, these personnel are trained extortionists. Moreover, airport taxi are like vultures waiting for prey. They impose so much jacked up taxi fare which leaves a passenger helpless and without a choice but to puke money the moment you stepped in and the driver stepped on the gas. The timed parking for a quick drop-off is as terrible as the rude attendants. Other really bad feedback will consume a lot of space here in my comment when needed to be enumerated., hence I suggest that you do another video featuring how bad this airport is. This is not a hearsay. I am coming from being a very disappointed, disgusted and irked passenger like some of my family members and friends who have experienced terrible things in that airport. Rating should be about negative four (- 4) out of 10.

In Manchester UK You never circle the airport for hours for a landing slot as its under NATS Prestwick command and not UKs worst Airport Heathrow overcrowded and takes ages for a landing slot as NATS Swanwick completely swamped too many Aircraft all in one Area I hate Heathrow 👨‍✈️👩‍✈️👑⭐️🥇🇬🇧✈️Manchester 👎🙏✈️Heathrow 👩‍✈️👨‍✈️👎

    - NAIA, Manila
    - Clark, Angeles City
    - Cebu intl. Airport

I've been through Hong Kong Airport plenty of times and I've never had any issues with it. It's clean, it's safe, it's comfortable enough, their WiFi is alright, and they have do some cheap food options. I think the problem is that it's Hong Kong and there are a lot of demanding rich people and business people going through there all the time.
By far, the absolute WORST airport experience I've ever had in my life was my layover at Ninoy Aquino Airport in Manila. Absolutely the WORST. Security checks every 5 steps, rude workers and security guards, the terminals make no freaking sense, there are no freakin exits out of the airport except for ONE door, we had to LEAVE the airport and take taxi halfway around the city just to end up at the same airport to transfer to Terrminal 4 Domestic flights, it was the most ridiculously bad airport ever.
#2 would be the Houston International Airport. SO disorganized. My family and I missed our connecting flights, even though we had a 4-hour layover, because the lines at immigration were so freaking long. And the reason for the long lines wasn't that there was an enormous amount of people. It was that they only had like 2 customs workers, so there were only 2 lines to process all of the arrivals.

I am surprised to see HKG, as in my eyes, its a pretty clean and efficient airport. On the list belongs, however, NAIA Manila. once even portions of the ceiling in Terminal 1 DID come down, and to travel between terminals, the so-called shuttles need to go out on the busy roads around the airport. Loved ones cannot see you off or welcome you in the terminals, waiting is obnoxious, and quality of services and foods are rock bottom. A horror experience. If possible, choose Cebu Mactan Int. Airport, smaller, and much, much better

None of this airports qualify to be in the 10 worst in the world. If we are restricting the ranking to large airports in highly developed nations, the ‘worst’ list would probably be dominated by airports in the US.

1:34 can confirm. It's great to watch from the turnpike; but customs is really where it falls apart. In 2018 I was on a delayed flight from Zürich to Newark that landed at 12:15am due to a technical fault in Zürich. Still took an hour and a half to process a more than half empty A330-200 and IT WAS THE ONLY FLIGHT ARRIVING AT THAT TIME IN THE ENTIRE AIRPORT.
There were like 100 to 110 passengers and five queues, three of which were for US citizens like me. Then our baggage didn't get to the carousel until 2:30am.
If you're flying Star Alliance, do not connect through Newark without a minimum layover of three to four hours. It's one of United Airlines's hubs, because you have to go through US Customs before you can go to your connecting flight no matter your final destination and that can take literally hours. Okay rant over, thank you for reading my Ted Talk.

No Airport is going to be perfect, if one demolished and rebuilt all of them into something superb, there would always be a complaint from someone, mind you most of the airports in the uk ,need to be rebuilt, some of them have disused buildings now like terminal one at Heathrow, manchesters old control tower is still in situ(very 1960's) and disused too, i spoke to a worker at Gatwick and she said the whole lot needs knocking down, england is a small country to put an ideal airport in and the cost would be huge, i agree they are trying to improve some like manchester for instance, and i agree that aviation is moving at such a rapid pace that it must be hard to keep up with the modernisation of these airports, it would be interesting if they constructed them all now, but then they would probably get out of date in the future, thats why they are constantly bieng patched up, world over, and old mixing in with the new makes some of them look hideous, i think the airport staff would probably be happier working in a fresh new environment as for the travelling public, oh well time will tell, i have never really encountered any rude staff as yet, and have bren using these places for years, a favourite airport? I rather like Zurich, not very large but very clean!!

I'd put Newark far ahead of both JFK and LaGuardia. It's the easiest of the 3 to get to/from Manhattan (the train runs straight from the airport to Penn Station in under 30 minutes) and the United terminals are quite smart and efficient. Security lines move much faster than the other 2 NYC airports.
Manchester is indeed a hellhole. They charge you for everything, the terminals are crowded and dirty, and some of the gates are such a long walk from the check-in areas that I think they share a runway with LPL (Liverpool).
I've never flown from Orly but it can't be worse than Charles DeGaulle. That airport is an absolute disgrace. Overpriced crap food, no A/C, long walks between gates and unhelpful or nonexistent signs.
The worst I've been through is Genghis Khan Int'l in Ulan Bator, Mongolia. The terminal is too small and gets overcrowded when several flights arrive or depart at the same time, immigration officers are very rude, the signage is poor, no one speaks any language other than Mongolian or Russian and there are no decent food options anywhere in the terminal. UB is getting a new airport in the next few years and it can't open soon enough.
