This episode explores the famous dodo. It is told to be a fat and clumsy bird but based on the only 2 full skeletons of dodos on earth this doesn't seem to be the case. i wouldn't say that the dodo was in the wrong place at the wrong time - it was in exactly the right place, perfectly adapted to its island home. It was the Dutch with their invasive livestock who were in the wrong place. Still, I'm glad this short film has done its best to restore the image of the dodo as a strong, successful species rather than the clumsy stupid creature of myth. If it had been that inept, it wouldn't have survived as long as it did! . Humans so often belittle the species they either exploit to extinction or, as in this case, indirectly drive into oblivion.

Seems the Dutch we’re still responsible for the demise of the Dodo by introducing invasive species. They didn’t have to eat them.
For some reason, the word "Dutch" is often associated with something negative, like: Dutch courage, Dutch door-action, Dutch oven, going Dutch on a date, Dutch penny-pinching, Dutch elm disease, etc.
How old is this documentary? Dr Beth Saphiro look really young here. And isn't she planning to revive the dodo bird?

I've read that there were 4 Dodo species:
Dodo of Mauritius
Solitaire of Rodriguez
White Dodo of Reunion
Solitaire of Reunion (different species).
Such a high percentage went extinct. Frightening.
I'm betting rats and other introduced animals played a role.
Seems like they should be cooing like big pigeons. Not making freaky wookie raptor noises like jurassic Park Wars.

It wouldn’t have been. They became extinct decades before the Industrial Revolution began, before our species began to alter the climate
The Dodo isn't only THE symbol for extinction for me he is also the most adorable flightless bird of the past, today it's the Kiwi from New Zealand^^, in all of his appearence. :)
For me and I think many others it would be so wonderful if it would be possible to bring back or the near zero chance that somewere could have been survived without beeing noticed... :p
For reviving: 1st Dodo, 2nd Moa, 3rd Elefant bird after these Mammut, Sabertooth, W. Rhino maybe others. ^^
(haven't mentioned the Thylocene from Australia because I'm not that convinced they went extinct with the last in a zoo in 1936 :D )
