    Everything you're doing now is a major step and has huge visual impact. Closing in the gable ends with that beautiful blue-streaked live edge, the stain/preservative and next the floor. All will add scale and perspective to the cabin - as will doors and windows. You must be looking forward to each next stage with such anticipation!
    You'll have a magnificent home when it's finished, of that I'm sure, and I eagerly await each new video.

    Q8 log oil is fabulous. I cedar shingled my cottage off a lake and bushed on Q8 log oil and have a second coat after 3 years. . I coated a wooden picknic table with only one coat the first time I coated the cottage after I shingled it and it still beads up rain water same as a newly waxed car. I just used it on cedar shingles I used to close in under a second floor porch but this time I used an air compressor sprayer that I use to paint cars and equipment set at 40psi and the results were awesome. Don't think I would ever use q8 with a paint brush again. Much quicker and still applies a good protective even coat of q8. Worth all the money you pay for it. I just finished a fence with Australian timber oil also sprayed on and I think Everlast q8 log oil is infinity a better product. Highly recommended.

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we agree!! Definitely the best product we have ever used. Another advantage is that if you have some left, it doesn’t hurt it if if freezes. We won’t use anything else since we tried it😊👍

    Thx for the enjoyable videos. I have been trying to understand why I am enjoying them so much. I finally figured it out. It is because you two remind me of my parents, now departed. Their tangible love affair and marriage. How they worked so well together to build an import business from scratch, how they remodeled a run down cabin. Their love for each other was a powerful lesson to my brothers and I. Many, many thanks for this trip down memory lane. Keep up the great work. God bless you!

    Found your channel through the Western Log Homes Supply website. We are also building a log cabin home for rental property. We've also traveled through Hot Springs, Arkansas and it is a beautiful place! Wish you guys the best of luck. But serious question, how are you guys liking the Outlast Q8 stain? we are getting ready to decide what we are going to put on ours. Any incite would be greatly appreciated.

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We are super happy with it! It is the easiest stain we have ever used and so far it is by far the best! It does take longer to dry, but that is actually an advantage as you don’t have to worry about overlap marks when you apply it. It soaks in rather than staying on the surface so you never have to worry about it peeling off. Another thing that we like is that it still allows the logs to dry so you don’t have to wait for them to dry completely before you stain them. We have friends that used a different product and they have had all kinds of problems with it. I think you will love it. One note…they have test samples of the different colors that you can try on your actual logs. Be sure and do that and wait the recommended 2 weeks or so as the color mellows out quite a bit as it dries. They will reimburse you the cost of the samples if you order the stain. Have fun building your cabin and stay safe!😊👍

    Seems you could really use a battery powered back pack for all the spraying you are going to do and are doing. How many gallons of stain did you use for the cabin. Are you staining the ceiling and interior walls as well

    • @natureartgirl
      @natureartgirl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used 10 gallons so far including staining the floor joists. That may not have been necessary, but just to be sure.. we just ordered another 5 gallons for the deck and porch. It shouldn’t take that much when we re stain down the road. We are going to use a different stain for the inside. It is the outlast interior stain. Dries much faster and goes a lot farther per gallon since it doesn’t soak in much. I think 5 gallons should be enough. We haven’t used it before, so we will see.

      There is two layers of live edge, the underneath layer covers the gaps between the top layer. There really aren’t any gaps when we are done. We do run a line of caulking along the bottom and top when finished to make sure it’s sealed good.

      A window would be nice, but would have to be custom and not in our budget😬😊

    Looks great. Coulda just used bleach instead then scrub with an rv cleaning brush and rinse then let dry and seal the next day. it’ll clean all mold mildew and logs will look good as when fresh peeled and save you a ton of time

      Thanks! Bleach does work, but it can really soften the wood if you leave it on without rinsing or use it too strong. This is a little easier on the logs. It’s more like oxiclean as compared to chlorine bleach. 😊👍
