@@herbalT13 You are absolutely right. My mom loved The Cure so much. After she passed, listening to her music was one of the only ways I felt close to her again. It brought me a lot of happiness to discover such beautiful music. I’ve been listening to The Cure ever since. Beautiful stuff.
Few Cure songs employ silence like this one - so little happens in so many sections, sound wise, yet the building tensions and narrative of the lyrics swell the entire song. Amazing song, maybe the best of the post millennial era.
Yes between the silence AND the instrumental atmospherics they employ .. the song takes you to a romantic Night setting with two lovers intimately connecting , where no one else matters and the world was made for them .... both are in the moment and set on being with each other forever!!! I feel in this song Robert may have drawn inspiration from Van Gogh's Starry Night Over the Rhone ... not to be confused with Starry Night. Search Starry Night over the Rhone Robert is A true Genius and knows so well how to connect with( and both tell us and take us into) the human experience with song and has been consistently doing so for over 40 years!!!
The maturity to realize that sometimes the best notes are the ones not played. In a selfish moment one could play all kinds of crap, but the atmosphere created here is due to the unselfish desire to paint a beautiful sound picture.
It's easily my favorite song of the post millennial era. Jason did a great job on it, it was the first time I wasn't missing Boris as much. For the record, I'm still missing Boris.
Yeah this song Maybe good but unfortunately after this track is over the rest of the album is awful! Too bad that the album doesn't actually sound like this song.... 413 dream went down as probably the worst cure album
This is such a melancholic, but at the same time romantic/lonely song depending on which side of the spectrum you are... if you have your somebody, you can definitely relate to this in a "happy" or good way... if you had somebody, and you're all by yourself now (such as myself), then it hits you like a rock. All you can relate to in this song is "the waves... break" and the sound... which leads you to that "better place".. to that person that once was (or felt) yours, but never again will be.
Floating here like this with you Underneath the stars Alight for 13 billion years The view is beautiful And ours alone tonight Underneath the stars Spinning round and round with you Watching shadows melt the light Soft shining from our eyes Into another space Is ours alone tonight Watching shadows melt And the waves break And the waves break… Whisper in my ear a wish “We could drift away” Held tight Your voice inside my head The kiss is infinite And ours alone tonight “We could drift away” Flying here like this with you Underneath the stars Alight for 13 billion years The view is beautiful And ours alone tonight Underneath the stars And everything gone And all still to come As nothing to us Together as one In each others arms So near and so far Together as now Underneath the stars As the waves break…
haha robert is a genius i like how at the end when he's thanking the public he seems grateful yet so shy. What a down to earth guy after all these years. I need new music Bob c'mon!
Qué talento musical. Qué maravilla. Qué 6:14 minutos de absoluta felicidad. GRACIAS THE CURE POR EXISTIR, POR CONTINUAR EN EL CAMINO DESPUÉS DE LOS AÑOS, POR EMOCIONARNOS, Y POR HACER CANCIONES COMO ESTA.
4:13 Dream has great songs but man they are mixed so bad ,I can't even play them loud in my car. The live version of Underneath the stars flows much better and softer than the album version.
This song is proof that Rob still has it. It's one of their greatest song and was made on their most recent album. Please just give us more, we know you have some gems left for sure sitting around on dusty hard drives, Rob. Finish em!

It actually sounds more like Pelican. Very post rock sounding. Listen to the song Perpetual Dawn by that band and I guarantee you that they lifted the main melody from Underneath the Stars and appropriated it to their song. Down to the same effects Robert Smith uses.
Never understood why they didn’t put the keys in this song, it sounds too rough this way, like a sort of demo, a missed chance to be one of the best Cure songs in my opinion
This is one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard in my life
If u listen to all of the cure's large catalog of songs you'll probably say that dozens of times. They have so many beautiful gems

One of my favorite songs of all time
🖤
I love this song! One of my top 15 favorite Cure songs from their entire catalog. 🔥👏🙌
One of the best cure songs ever
My God, this is a cleaner recording than the studio version. One of my fave songs and poems ever.
I'm gonna play this song on my wedding day. Wish me well :)
Please post the video!
Wish you the best bro!
wish you well, let your love be true and last for ever!
How did it go?
Great choice hope your wedding went well

Might be my favorite Cure song. Feels like the Quintessential Cure vibe

I've gone through both feelings and I listened to the song both times. Can't agree more, sadly.
Thank you for those words. You are the best!
I am on the spectrum.
This is totally correct. Is the magic in The Cure’s songs 😊
This is one of my favorite Cure songs. This live version is absolutely amazing 🤩
So much better than the studio version. Robert!! Why don’t you play this anymore? Don’t understand.
A song like this feels very at home in Disintegration era Cure
I’ve fallen in love with this song
Floating here like this with you
Underneath the stars
Alight for 13 billion years
The view is beautiful
And ours alone tonight
Underneath the stars
Spinning round and round with you
Watching shadows melt the light
Soft shining from our eyes
Into another space
Is ours alone tonight
Watching shadows melt
And the waves break
And the waves break…
Whisper in my ear a wish
“We could drift away”
Held tight
Your voice inside my head
The kiss is infinite
And ours alone tonight
“We could drift away”
Flying here like this with you
Underneath the stars
Alight for 13 billion years
The view is beautiful
And ours alone tonight
Underneath the stars
And everything gone
And all still to come
As nothing to us
Together as one
In each others arms
So near and so far
Together as now
Underneath the stars
As the waves break…
Robert’s voice is unparalleled
The master piece of The Cure 🖤.
I couldn't help shed a tear with that intro. Sorry about that. 😞
same here
One of my favourite songs from The Cure
Porl really shines on songs like this. Perry and Reeves are great, but a certain something is missing with Porl gone.
Agree
Absolutely. If you add someone on Keyboards, this would quite possibly be the best lineup the Cure ever had.
best song of the album
Love this song. Nobody does sonically what The Cure does. It’s so distinctive after the first note. Sounds even better live.
haha robert is a genius i like how at the end when he's thanking the public he seems grateful yet so shy. What a down to earth guy after all these years. I need new music Bob c'mon!
It’s here, what do you think?
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!
I love it too!
Hope the new cure album has songs like this one if it ever comes out
You were right! 😊
the cure is a band i still havent seen live and need too i hope they tour once the pandemic is over and play this and all their hits
This one breaks me every time. 13 billion years, and here we are alone Underneath the Stars.
And the waves break …
Damn.
And I break…every damn time.
thank you The Cure ! you cure me ! you make me believe we have'nt lost everything ! thanks again .
The magic is in Robert’s vulnerability in delivering this poetry
Qué talento musical. Qué maravilla. Qué 6:14 minutos de absoluta felicidad. GRACIAS THE CURE POR EXISTIR, POR CONTINUAR EN EL CAMINO DESPUÉS DE LOS AÑOS, POR EMOCIONARNOS, Y POR HACER CANCIONES COMO ESTA.
¡Exactamente!
masterpiece:-)))))

It came and its an amazing album 🥹
Robert Smith was created for this - music that stirs the Soul...
peoples who give a deslike please buy another ear
BRAVO!!!!😊❤
Bella canción, la atmósfera que crean es tan maravillosa como estar acostada en el pasto, mirar el cielo y sentirse vivo!!
Absolutely beautiful song!!❤ so happy they will be touring USA soon!!
Majestic song
The Best Formation !!!!

Eh... y the gathering con Anneke o steven wilson?
Wow! Such a progressive/environmental tune we got here, very Pink Floyd-esque, if you will.
It actually sounds more like Pelican. Very post rock sounding.

Lovely.
I remember saw this show on tv back in 2008 ...
One of the best drum beats ever 👌🏿
Love it
Great song, let's hope the next album comes out soon and is a ripper. Dark trilogy will have nothing on it!
Que gran tema de the cure con magistral ejecución de la banda y porl extraordinario se le extraña
❤️🌹💙❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💜🌻❤️
Heck of a band

FODAAAAAA
I think this song just made me pregnant!! ❤❤❤❤
And it was actually Simon!!! 🤣🤣🤪🤪
Fuckin good sound
Looking up, thinking ov u.................
Since I'm not very musically inclined, can someone tell me what the peddle board is for the guitars and bass? What do they do?
Never understood why they didn’t put the keys in this song, it sounds too rough this way, like a sort of demo, a missed chance to be one of the best Cure songs in my opinion
Desgraciadamente el mundo no se hizo para almas sensibles...
Si escuchas esto mujer,te lo dedico
Dommage que ce monsieur ait prévilégié son business en Ukraine. Navré pour lui d'être ce qu'il est finalement.
Boring track!
