    YES YES YES! it’s so annoying how people believe black people cant be shy or introverted we don’t all have the same personality. Some of these people clearly don’t have friends because there is no way they’re attached to people they don’t know like this and them pressing Beyoncé to wash and show her hair (which were people who only had 2 minutes of hair btw) was top level obsessive deranged behavior

    • @Quinn_M97
      @Quinn_M97 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      Yes! Black people who are quiet are always labeled as either “slow” or stuck up. Due to the change of times they normally don’t say slow anymore, they accuse you of being “on the spectrum” or having some form of autism. It’s like people can’t fathom introverted or shy black people, especially when it comes to black women. They do this to Beyoncé a lot and it’s so annoying.

    I think a lot of them are very lonely and honestly I’ve been saying for a long time, there should be mental health screenings and questionaires before people are able to be online. It’s so true that celebrity women have more pressure placed on them for “relatability” people just feel so entitled to women

      Yes and it’s not just men, other women have entitlement to women as well. Women are expected to be people pleasers to everyone. We are taught that we have to be submissive to men and if we don’t want to be friends with every woman then we get called pick me or not a “ girls girl”.

    I thought people would learn about having healthy boundaries with celebrities they admired after the deaths of Rebecca Schaeffer, John Lennon, Selena Quintanilla, and Dimebag Darrell. I know Christina Grimmie is another one as she's a recent example of fan obssession gone too far, but those four died before the advent of social media. I feel social media along with the 2000s gossip columns amplified the unhealthy obsessions. Why do you think a lot of celebrities refuse autographs or interact with fans? Girl YES. I just became a Beyoncé stan months ago and I’m just in awe of her and her talent. But I’ve never once desired to relate to her…. Even though she’s given plenty of material over the years to do that. The ONLY things I want from her is for her to continue being safe, happy, and to be around for the rest of my life bc I can’t fathom her leaving us 😭. I just want her to keep blessing us with her artistry and performances and her voice. That’s all. She’s Black excellence and carries herself so well and is SO respectable. So I want her to continue to thrive.
    All that other BS these ppl be talking about and expecting from celebrities is not for me. And the bullying is ridiculous. And when they make moves to protect themselves from it, like what Beyoncé has done over the years, she gets called robot, puppet, and soulless. And “isn’t relatable”. The whole hair thing was RIDICULOUS. I was so upset. And what made me even more mad was the fact that it was BLACK women doing it. It’s always “protect Black women” “believe Black women” “Black women can do anything” until it’s Beyoncé. Then they question her blackness, don’t wanna believe her hair is hers, accuse her of bleaching her skin, etc. and rhey credit everything she does to someone else whether it’s Solange, Tina, or Jay. they don’t mind being anti Black and misogynistic toward her at all and it’s disgusting

    • @iconicallyiconic
      @iconicallyiconic  หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I agree with every thing you said! I’ve been a fan of Bey since the 90s because of how incredibly talented she is and how much work she puts into her craft and constantly improving and challenging herself as an artist/person should, it’s inspiring and makes you proud as a black woman to watch another black woman be successful in a business that isn’t always so kind to our people especially during the time when she was coming up and how people spoke about her body, her family etc. and it’s okay to be a fan and have your fave because we all do.
      It seems as though it’s acceptable to be hateful, rude, nasty and anti-black towards certain celebrities because they don’t like them and think any hate they receive is warranted and honestly it’s comes down to jealousy and feeling like they should have hers or any celebrity’s success and money.
      You cant even say you like Beyoncé without someone thinking you worship her because these people hate her so much🙄 they don’t realize obsession can be love or hate and some of them are obsessed with hating her.

      @Quinn_M97 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The hatred for Beyoncé just proves that successful black women are the most hated group on the planet, even by other BW. The celebrities that people don’t like are just a reflection of people they don’t like in real life. Beyoncé minds her business and makes music, but yet she has many haters that don’t like her for no reason. The comments under her shade room posts are full of women saying “I’m tired of her”, without giving an explanation as to why.
      I personally don’t see how anyone can hate Beyonce and I’m not just saying this because she’s my favorite singer. She doesn’t give off an arrogant vibe and seems like a genuinely nice person. She only goes off in her music when people come for her first.

    This was a great video. I think that the obsession with relatability and celebrities has ruined pop culture. I don’t see why a celebrity has to be “relatable” in order for people like them. For me, as long as they are not a terrible person and actually I like their music or art I will support them. Pop culture was better before social media took over about 15 years ago. Celebrities were able to maintain autonomy and mystery, and people still were their fans. I think being a celebrity now is terrible for mental health because they have to not only worry about the media and tabloids, but also what random people on social media say to them.

    I disagree about the Beyonce hair washing clip. Beyonce has a history of coming out with lines and products out of nowhere that she rarely markets herself or uses herself. Rihanna pushes her product and her love for maekup can be felt. Her love of fashion can be felt in a line or piece she creates or helps create. The same cannot be said for Beyonce. One of the downsides of Beyonce's perceived elusiveness and necessary rights to privacy is that it makes many of her business ventures outside of music come across as inauthentic and cash grabs due to a lack of back and forth with the fans that is needed from time to time. Yes, there were fans that were obsessed with seeing her hair just to see if it's long, but many fans needed to see her using her own products and that is valid. Up until that video she didn't do that. But I agree with everything else in this video. This level of attachment to complete strangers is SICKENING!

      This is the problem every time Beyonce is mentioned Rihanna is brought up and it's tiring. back in the day celebrities came out with lines, did a commercial/ advertising and bounced and made millions. People are going to buy what they want to buy period and I would rather a review come from a regular person than a celebrity who is going to tell you everything you want to hear about their brand, they're not going to tell you anything negative because you are a consumer they want to purchase their products. It's all a cash grab from all celebrities, they want your money.
      I love Rihanna down but even with her love for fashion she shut down her Fenty line because the prices were out of range for the everyday customer. Everything can't be for everyone, and you can't win all the time because people will complain either way.

    • @Quinn_M97

      The previous commenter made a great point, before social media plenty of celebrities had brands and lines and were not relatable. Beyoncé had a fashion line like many other celebrities in the 2000s and they were no more relatable than she was. They were all in it for the money. Also, I think how relatable a celebrity is different for each person. I like Rihanna, but I don’t buy her makeup because I find her relatable, I buy it because she puts out quality products and I like her music enough to support her business ventures.

    • @SR-zv5ue
      @SR-zv5ue หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You have no idea if RIhanna is actually using her products. Makeup is impossible to tell if the person is actually using them. We only know that she's using it when she's advertising it and even then editing and lighting can make her makeup look better than it actually is. The same goes for her lingerie. We never see her wearing her lingerie unless she's specifically advertising it. Beyonce at least when it came to her clothing line actually wore her clothes when she was rehearsing in her documentary. This false narrative that Rihanna is more relateable and actually wears her products is so stupid. Do you honestly think she's wearing lingerie made in sweatshops that tear apart after one wash? And unlike Rihanna Beyonce has documented proof of actually being involved in creating her outfits and designing them. That's not the case with Rihanna. You have no idea whether she actually designed any of her stuff.

    I think your being rather dense and unrealistic, yes having a parasocial obsession with celebrities is not healthy but celebrities aren’t completely innocent in why some of their fans have such an obsession with them especially when it comes to kpop idols, which part of their job is to egg on their fans in making them think their connection is personal and special, when you ask something of people especially monetarily, don’t expect them to not want something in return, beyonce promoted her product asking fans to support it and buy it and in return all they asked was to see her using it on her own hair, I don’t think that was too much to ask of her whether they “know how to wash their own hair or not” that wasn’t asking much of her considering she’s trying to sell a personal product of hers she supposedly developed but won’t show it being used on her own hair? c’mon, some people don’t expect much or anything from celebrities but when you ask people of things don’t expect them to not want something in return

It’s YOU’RE not YOUR- you’re = you are. Your = belonging to. The fact that you’re so connected with celebrities that;that spirit in you made you wanna jump up and type out this long comment is quite sad babe. SECONDLY, I said what I said you either buy the product or you simply DON’T. Do you really think a celebrity is going to tell you “my product doesn’t work well”?…they’re there to sell you something, you should want reviews from an average person who has no gain from giving you the truth about a product. Did I mention K-pop idols? Like I SAID YOU GET A SERVICE and pay them for that. The fact that this entire video is about the dangers of celebrity obsession and how they’ve harmed others and all you took from that is defending a bunch of lonely, unhinged maniac fans is absurd. Not having an obsession with a celebrity is unrealistic? Lmao Jesus be some self love and self esteem

      Absolutely! the mere mention of her name makes them so angry, how does a person you’ve never met stir up that much negative emotion in you 😩 it has to be tiring
