that part when she put it in her shirt, so precious and hilarious, I would have counted that as a receptive language win!

I don't know if this will help- but I'm a first grade teacher with a DS student who's low verbal. But she will go out of her way to make sounds when we do round robin greetings before almost every different section of the day. The other students think it's funny to make strange statements why they are having a 'good' or 'bad' day- and everyone erupts with laughter after each. She's the last in the robin- but she's laughing and has picked up on the 'target funny stuff' (yesterday the class was "good because Ms. Mi is a monkey") so when it comes to her she will also SAY the same thing as everyone else. And the class laughs even harder because 'Michelle knows it too'. What I'm trying to say is that peer modeling might also be something to try. The more she feels like part of the group- the more motivated she is to communicate so they understand

This speech looks so much more fun, then what my brother went through years ago. That statement is so true! My parents worked so hard to get my brother to talk, now he talks up a storm. If he is not talking he is signing.

I am so happy she is back in speech and yes the putting everything in their mouth is hard. We have gone through waves of that with our daughter and it has started to come back again.

Hey Naomi! I just want to thank you for this amazing channel. It is helping my families journey with my younger brother Frank. He is 6 years old and has to be home schooled at this time. With the struggles along the way its great to have community out there and know there is other families that are doing their best and coming together. Much love and grace to you all on your journey! :D

That’s so amazing that speech therapy has been opened back up for a couple weeks already! My sons speech therapy program won’t be back open till the fall which sucks but they follow the school year too so ther was no point in opening back up for a couple weeks.

Yeah, that would be pretty hard to wear a face mask in speech therapy. All the sterilization procedures have added a lot to the work responsibilities, but it's good that they are taking all the necessary precautions for everyone's health.

I don't know how a toddler would be able to do speech therapy with a mask, so it's good that she was allowed to take it off. Cute mask!

I’m sorry to hear that, but if this is how you feel, in all honesty and sincerity, you may want to consider changing your career path. This is mild compared to what you will see in other kids with similar and other disabilities. But seriously, take it to the Lord, because if her behavior bothered you when she worked with the speech therapist, how much more would it bother you if you were working with a child with more severe behavioral concerns. Working with children with disabilities is not all sunshine and roses, it takes a patient person.
