- Today we continue touring rural Thailand in the province of Rayong and begin rounding the various lakes. We visit a floating raft accommodation, listed as a hotel, but after finding it too meager for our needs, we move on to a private lakeside resort. The rooms are much better here and we enjoy a meal. Finally we end up at a luxury hotel in town which turns out to be a real gem in rural Thailand. Enjoy the Ride!

You would have to spend at least 10-12 times that much in the UK to get anything and you would not get such a polite response if you approached strangers and asked them what they were doing. I have to say that Thailand seems to be quite a reasonable place.

Just about every little town in Thailand has a few Falangs living there.
Cross the border to Laos and it starts to get remote and a foreigner is quite a novelty

Dee is a natural born cruiser. Looks like she can hold it down on her own on long cruises.
And most tourists stay in their bars and just talk (complain) to each other. So much to see in Thailand.

Years ago, I would go apple, strawberries and cherry picking in NYS. You were allowed eat all you want while you pick for free and charge only what you would take home.

One thing about Thailand . You could be in the middle of no where and have a home cooked meal by the locals Vee enjoying the bike. Have fun.
OMG don't let Vee wave. I have memories of a Thai girlfriend drifting across two lanes when she turned and waved at me when we were driving two cars across the interstate.

Looks like a lovely part of the province R4K I'd defo take a wander out there on a motorcycle, lakes are always good for a little bike tour. Both hotels had their merits the 500bht more than adequate for a nights stay, it's meant for locals generally I think not western tastes. But the other hotel looked pretty good value at 1500bht theyd made a good stab at 'upmarket'

I saw a Korean movie year ago and they had these fishing floats where you can spend days fishing and a boat would come by selling food and bait.
If you were into camping, fishing. The 500 baht with toilet is cool. The nice hotel at $45 is hell of deal with breakfast. Here in states $50 gets you plain Motel 6.
I would have to say that lakeside accommodation is Nat my cup of tea 🤣 but the Contrast hotel, now you’re talking. It’s amazing how you can find something like that in the boondocks 👍

It's sad that people today don't have a clue how produce is grown . Pineapple is expensive usually because one plant grows 1 pineapple. Also a viewer asked in the last video, how watermelon is grown . It's a vine on the ground like cucumber , zucchini, or pumpkin. And it needs loads of water. In thailand where they have monsoons , they don't need manmade underground irrigation. Same as India. But in dry climates the farmer needs to irrigate manually , and water bills run high. That's why you pay so much more .

I would stay at 500 baht for one or two nights at the lake place. With no real competition seems OK but they would struggle with competition.
So near to Pattaya and yet so rural. It's on my to do list when I finally get back.
Lucas, do you sit down sometime and realize how fantastic life you and We have? Because soon i will do the same, but few more years to work, and now with corona its been difficult to enter back to Thailand. So your videos keep me going for the return to Thailand. Keep up the great work!

I think 500 baht was very good price for those sheds not expensive at all. Vee is like my soon to be Thai wife, likes vegetable off the plant, not like solid food much, little bit of chicken/pork maybe but mostly vegetable.

Not sure about the Cigars but there is TH-cam prime and Netfilx for sure, not sure about Amazon Prime, but TV boxes with all sorts of programming options abound.

Not really on roads like this because you are only going 50-60 kph regardless of what type of bike you're on.
Vee is looking good on her own bike. Should be more comfortable than on the back of your bike ....for both of you.

your a gas man. you do mad things. this programme has turned into a growers / veg shop programme. then a fishing programme then a food programme. then a bikers segment then. a tourist programme. if there are awards for diversity the 1st prize is yours. well done again.
I've stayed at the Contrast a couple of times. Was good place to escape the city with company. It was 900b a night on weekends 3 years ago. The bar opposite wasn't bad but even back then on a Saturday the town was dead.

Most start out on bikes when they are fairly young.
I've surely stayed in worse places than that 1st lakeside spot. That little trip looks like it would be good for a big bike. Peace and hang loose. 🤙

5 fishing rods , that’s not the type of fishing I like to do , I’m more of the chill out type . One Fishing rod is enough for me , a few beers and something to smoke is the way I like to do my fishing , but each to their own . Enjoying the countryside many thanks .

1,500 baht in the middle of NO WHERE and it is the lowest season Thailand has seen in Decades ... Ah Ya, you are getting Falanged!!! Might want to try having your other half book the accommodations, besides when booking online you are setting yourself up to pay more, it simply identifies you as a tourist... The Expat adopts a local approach, they don't book over the internet... You are just setting yourself up to overpay
Ok, I'll try it your way and vlog it. But I've done it many times that way and am quoted higher at the desk than online. I've actually gone out to the parking lot, booked on Agoda and come back in to save save hundreds. But it could go the other way round on occasion.

She knows you are paying too much, and in my opinion, she should have stepped forward to take care of this... I am not criticizing, I have lived there since 2002 and understand "being Falanged", Thai's trying to be clever! I am however very envious.
