Phil Robertson Not all women like or drink fancy scmancy coffee. I am a 67 year old Cajun woman born and raised in New Orleans. My momma taught me how to make coffee. We boil our water and slowly hand drip it through a filter into the coffee pot. No coffee maker. Very strong. By hand dripping it, the water pours slowly through the coffee and has time to marinate. New Orleans blend Community Dark Roast. I grew up with Chicory but when I had Lyme disease in my thirties I couldn't tolerate the Chicory anymore. Also we use no cream or milk. Can't even stand the smell of hazelnut. I agree with you also about where are the men? My daddy fought in WWII in the Navy. Nobody messed with him. Great horseman, champion swimmer. My hero. He later was part of the Jefferson Parish posse. They rode with the police at night as volunteers. They also rode in the parades on horseback for Mardi Gras. He was the only man Sheriff Lee let touch and tack up his horse. That generation is sadly gone. Where are the men? My friends and I talk about that all the time. Love your teachings.

My Mom's Daddy (Grandpa) had me make his coffee back in the day because I make good strong coffee. I'll tell you a little known (remembered) secret used by settlers coming west in wagons, they boiled their coffee over an open fire, added a bit of cold water in spout to settle grounds to bottom AND added a dash of SALT to take away any bitterness or acidity. Try salt for stale coffee, you'll thank me later.

Nothing better than a cup of strongly brewed dark roasted coffee in the morning.
When I was a child I grew up when front porch sitting was a common practice. Listening to In The Woods reminds me of those days. It was normal for anywhere from 2 to 10 people to be sitting around the porch, drinking coffee, with bibles in hand. As a young child, I am blessed to have experienced this and I feel like those times shaped me into the adult I am today. Spending time on Blaze, listening to Phil, reminds me so much of sitting on the porch! Thank you, Phil!
