@RideWithAnthony it is not normal for an oil seal to leak. Oil seals are wear items and parts of the gearmotor that need to be replaced when the time is due. The length of time the seal will last depends on several factors such as operating environment, shaft speed, oil type, and any external debris contacting the seal surface. If you find a unit with a leaking seal it should be replaced. If you provide your local SEW-Eurodrive customer service with the S.O.# from the gearmotor nameplate they can provide you with the part number and type of seal you need to use to replace it.
