    I started playing guitar/bass in garage bands {grandma taught mom who taught me originally} in the 1970’s. Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Robyn Trower, Captain Beyond was the music we played at first… later; Rush, YES, etc.… I have had approximately 40 to 50 guitars in my lifetime… Currently, I have over twenty. Now in my Golden Years (LOL: 100% WTSC Disabled Veteran) I've learned collecting gear is just that... all YOU or anyone needs to learn, play, grow, and perform is One guitar, One amp, and One pedal!
    My guitar playing equipment recommendations: “Spider V 240HC MkII” Guitar Amplifier with “James Taylor Variax JTV-89F” “FBV3” Foot Controller “Delay G10R” Wireless Transmitter

    Worst presets of any modeling amp I've ever played but once you dig into the brains of the option list to unsuck everything, I was pleasantly surprised to generate some damn fine tones, right up there with my Vetta. Bought the 120-watt 1x12 for shits and grins and I'm having a blast with it. That's usually the issue with most of these Borg boxes. You've got to spend time to create your own tones as long as the software is decent enough to get you there and in this case, for me at least, it is. Paul knows enough about 'em to get there as easy as anyone and FWIW, I chose this over the Katana, newbie Mustang and Blackstar...as I said, forget the presets, they're junk. Find something that is close enough to use as a platform and take some minutes to unclog the drain and create a tone you genuinely like. I spent one hour with the amp doing just that. By the end of it, I had created enough presets for most any gig. Every once in awhile it's nice to stumble on something that most everyone else has determined, through YT videos, is a flat out piece of shit that when uncorked, is actually a woefully underrated combo. The software is idiot proof and ridiculously easy to use. I was up and running in ten minutes through Windows, having a blast with the thing. Glad I let my own ears decide. It's not a game changer like a Kemper but for chump change, there's a lot of fun buried within.

      I can see that you worked your way through the amp yourself... By any chance have you tried getting the tone for SIBLY by Led Zeppelin. I'm having trouble finding the right sound and at the moment I can't connect the amp to my pc, I think ppl can actually share their settings on the app and I'm hoping that someone tried to make the sound already but I don't have the ability to connect to the app right now.

      Thanks for commenting on this. I just got the 120-watt as well for less than $150 but was a bit skeptical because of the different reviews on the amp, some saying it is a decent ones and some saying is crap. But now I see it's more a matter of digging into the device and as you said, 'unsucking' the tones.

    I love my Spider IV but this thing has everything I dont and it looks great!! for this price point they sound amazing.
    I pair my head with a Mesa Boogie Road King 2, 4x12 and it is sublime.
    Having built in wireless, the ability to go direct, record, loop, use software to build patches, etc.. at this price? lol no brainer!!
    The head I want is $4000.00 so for $450 this will do just fine.

    I will have one of these. Great demo American musical supply has the 120 for $399 not bad at all considering the cost of a Roland blues cube being super expensive and you are basically buying a solid state amp

    I recently bought the 240 -2x12 and it's awesome. I am upgrading from the flextone 2 1/2 stack I've had for 10 years.
    my only complaint and it's a pretty big one, is that you can't use the app to dial in your sound while plugged into your PC. Or at least I haven't found a way. if anyone has figured it out let me know.

    awesome video and tones. Loved the Solo 100 patch/tone at the end. reminded me of some Joe Satriani stuff. Paul if I already have a Firehawk FX but want to be able to play my Acoustic and Electric guitar using the FHFX and get a Full Range output would the Spider V amp be a good choice or overkill since I already have a FH? Should I get a small PA/Monitor instead? I only play as a hobbyist at home and currently only use headphones on my FH to play my tones/patches. Thanks

    I am currently looking at either the Amplifi 30 or the Spider V30 for a little practice amp. I have been trying to find any suggestion online to why I would choose one over the other. Does any one have any useful reasons why I would go with one over the other. The main difference I see at the moment is the Spider V looks more like an Amp, the Amplfi is maybe better for music playback plus the control and streaming is over Bluetooth as opposed to the Spider V having the iPad plugged in.

      @kdwmixingmastering 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, so I get the bigger speaker but do I get the Spider or the Amplifi. What are the pros and cons between them. To me I don't see clear difference other than one looks like an amp and one doesn't. The Amplifi does Bluetooth and the Spider doesn't.

    I like the look and sound of these amps but one thing is stopping me from getting one and that is no-one seems to be able the question as to whether the output wattage is RMS or peak power. Does anyone know whether the 120w would be equal to my Marshall 100w (2 x 12 combo). I know loudness is subjective but I like line 6 gear and have the floorpod live xt as well as the Sonic Port which is superb and very robust. Can anyone help ?

    • @baileyvillewyldeman
      @baileyvillewyldeman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      solid state power sections usualy are not as loud as the tube counterparts at a given wattage..normally, a 50 tube amp will be as loud or louder than a 100 watt solid state amp..

    • @vicenttelias
      @vicenttelias 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think @baileyvillewldeman is right, tube amps tend to sound louder than solid state amps. On the other hand, if wattage was expressed in peak power, the numbers would be far more bigger.

    • @HaloMaster-dn8sd
      @HaloMaster-dn8sd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clarence Prigent there are so many effects inside this little trash can that it effects the signal,I played one and hated it,the insane mode has no tone,just gain,same with the fender mustang but it sounds better than this,there are a couple useable tones on this thing but still,bias fx Is way better than this,oh AND THE MONEY,$3.00 for this thing when bias is way cheaper and you can do pretty much the exact same thing.

    I spent $500 on the amp, $250 on the FBV, and then more on the G10 transmitter. I love it all, what I absolutely HATE is the crappy App. It's junk. It crashes all the time. Why no PC editors? There is no bluetooth in this? I was looking at reviews around online sites that sell this. Most of the buyers hate the app as bad as I do. Line 6 needs to look at those reviews.

    THEY COULDN'T PICK A WORSE SPOT FOR THE LOOPER CONTROL BUTTON. REACHING OVER BUTTONS TO ACCESS IT, NOT MUCH ADVANTAGE THERE. AND THE FACT YOU HAVE TO HIT IT TWICE TO STOP PLAYBACK. VERY UNCOOL. YOU HAD THAT PART RIGHT ON THE SPIDER IV SERIES. WELL, WITH EXCEPTION TO A 14 SECOND LOOP. THE 60 SECOND LOOP IS MUCH BETTER. JUST FIX THE LOCATION OF IT AND THE PROCESS AND YOU'LL REALLY ROCK. IF ITS NOT BROKE, DONT FIX IT. OTHER THAN THAT, LOVE THE WIRELESS FEATURE. LOVE THE TONES.

    By 2016, I would expect that Line 6 would have a handle on how to make really good, realistic clean tones. Not so. The clean tones here are just as antiseptic and over-processed as I have come to expect from their product line. The high-gain tones, modulation effects, etc. are quite good...and that's fine if that's all you do. Then there is all that endless tweeking that, for me, cuts into any actual creativity time. I'm not adverse to modelling. In fact, a Fender Mustang III V2 is my main gigging amp, but that's because I can dial in a good Fender tone without any muss or fuss.

    A "New" amp by Line 6 and NO Variax plug? How utterly stupid. Line 6 could've made this the Vetta III but didn't. Which means its a decent practice amp ( Yamaha THR 10 sound better than this amp but don't have as many effects.) but nothing more.
    Paul's playing is great as always. I wonder how much use the old DT25 in the background gets nowadays.

      Jude Diaz Line 6 amps don't suck. They're just different. I like 'em. Kind of an acquired taste but they definitely aren't bad by any means. Unless you're going for that vintage tube sound, Line 6 amps work just fine. I feel like too many people don't look at the amps for what they are and automatically jump on the Line 6 hate bandwagon. Building guitar amps can't be an easy task. At least the people at Line 6 are doing something with their lives. Give credit where credit is due.

    What were the engineers who designed this amp thinking? No on the fly PC editing? A lot of short comings. I would not invest.
    Also the tone is dildos.
    The guitarist in this review is very talented.

    Great guitar work, absolutely garbage tone.
    I've used a Flextone II for like 15 years, why can't we get something with actual decent tone from Line 6 anymore?

    i bought a mesa 5:50 express 5/50 watt class A/A-B for MUCH less with an english black shadow 90 watt vintage 30 speaker,there were 5 other TUBE amplifiers for sale far cheaper but at least 500 to 1000% better available tone that
    would knock this thing flat on its ass.you need to stop listing to studio edited reviews of dogshit disguised as a usable amplifier,that was the worst $750 you lit on fire.i dont understand how people can be so fucking gullible?

      God Damn yea it doesn’t! The spider iv is terrible and this is no different. Line 6 is better with effects but not overdrive or distortion

    A little more demo of the amps presets than playing. We know you can play, but review the amp, not your playing.

    Oh god, that intro song tone sounds so grainy and dead, I think only Ryan Bruce has achieved something remotely likeable tone-wise in all the demos I've seen of this thing. I will say though, the clean tones sounded pretty okay.
    Other than the horribleness of the amp, this is good demo. Good explanation and overview of the features. Great playing too!

      Kevys Rc & Music no it doesn't not even close i bet you have no clue how to dial in any tones on the line6 so it automatically sucks to you..well we are on to people like you who complain..you either don't know how to dial in tone or you pretty much suck at guitar i bet with YOU its BOTH..
