9th gen Si sedan owner checking in. Very nice of you to document this and congrats on this build, haven't seen this before with the 10th gen Si. 300+ with reliability is excellent.
Subscribed because you are trying to be as transparent as possible with the swap and didn’t glorify it in any way. I feel your pain because I’ve been there before with older Hondas that pre dated having turbos from the factory so keep it up bro!
Yes 🙌🏿 Finally go bro 😎 I’m watch this - this was jus an idea in my head, jotted down on paper and now someone like yourself is making that Dream come true Good on you 😁👍🏿
Awesome info! Interested to see how this would apply in a FK7. Another nice benefit is if you blow it up it’s done now so it will be potentially less money then replacing the stock SI engine. Also always nice to learn from short haired Squall lol.
@gavindanitz Great job! Thank you for all of the sweat and tears on our behalf. At the end, you showed the 2 types of people. I'm kind of in between. What is your opinion of the built L15s being sold by various shops as an in-between? FC3 and don't want to change...
The built L15 is still a good option for some. The benefit is that it’s a much easier process since it still mostly bolts together like oem. However, it still has many of the downsides of the L15, primarily that it’s just a small displacement engine designed for economy. It can also be extremely expensive once you add on a built trans, fuel system, and turbos. The k swap is a better option for those who are willing to do a little extra modification
If this can be done with a civic si, why when the question is asked about a 1.5t to 2.0t in an accord, the reaction is usually the same. Pretty much too much money or just trade in your 1.5 for a 2.0
So question for those more inclined than I, if i were to buy a wrecked type r for only the trans, and electrical (interior wise and wiring and ecu tcm everything essentially) would that then be “swappable” to a 10th gen LX and be more or less plug and play if its a roller chasis LX to make a sleeper LX sedan
Another random thing bruh how does a Nissanz make 1200hp but an si can’t ? And idk if y’all saw that red civic si about 6 years ago had like 1000hp i was trying find like build info but what I found is once you go pass 500hp in the si it’s no longer daily able ..I wanna drive my si ..but that type R …is being taxed heavvvyyyy so si for now sigh..W vid !
So….. I got a k20C2 and I really want to k20c4 swap it, is it different with an si ecu and Lx ecu? I’m just wondering because I know it’s turbo and Lx’s aren’t turbo Also, I’m brand new to all this and yea I have no idea
You don’t even need 12k or a different Turbo in an Accord 2.0T to kill 5.0’s and Scats. 5k or less is enough to turn the Accord into a muscle car killer. Just need a Tune, intercooler, intake (K&N drop in filter works better than most intakes though),down pipe, and better tires.
Curious as to why you say you don’t want to use the stock accord turbo, as Sis need “big” turbo swaps to make 300+ hp while the accord makes 300+ on stock turbo
are you not worried about the accord block? its def not the same as the type R. from what ive heard the accord blocks are pretty fragile in comparison. for the price i guess its worth it bc getting another block is pretty cheap tho
@@gavindanitz im def swapping my Si now. these 1.5L turbo engines just arent as reliable longterm as 2.0L turbo engines. really great video man cant wait to swap mine and show you the results. @fc1_air
@gavindanitz yes it does same 1.5t the only thing that changes is some bullshit on the manifold dude trust me I know I had a 2018 civic si bought brand new had it for 3 yrs and I had to swap the engine because the original motor spun a bearing I swapped in the crv 1.5t like I said the same shit point is you are not getting back anywhere near that if you were to sell the original motor and transmission
Sooooo you spent about the same amount as the average guy doing a k-swap in an old civic but you have a much newer / nicer car with a much MUCH better engine and trans. I’d say it definitely was worth the cost. Low cost.
"VTEC didn't kick in yo!, VTEC is always in.... yo"
Masterpiece commentary
But to be fair it would be alot cooler if it did haha
Now you have a taste of what a day in our life is
Hey bro my axles are almost done from DriveShaft shop. I’m coming to you next for the fuel injectors. 😊😊
vtec is always in, yo

I love this, great break down for people who want to do this swap or even people just wanting to swap anything in general. Awesome video Gavin.
The production quality from the first vid till now is crazy. Proud of bro
The Honda swap of the future
Just blew my L15b7, k20c4 swap on the way! Hope you don’t mind me poking you !🎉

Fk8 won’t blow up sub 400hp unless got a stupid tune on it lol
its worth when you put in the work for sure. I would not advise anyone to do this swap if this is your only car and you depend on it daily.
That’s pretty good! Paid $15k for an SI so another $12k is a total of $27k! Not bad for having a 2 “type R” haha
Good job, very interesting video, truly passionate! Thanks👍
Awesome swap King proud of you!!
I’m gonna do this swap in my FC3 one day

Your perspective on it is great. Worth it for you, not for Joe.
good job bro! hopefully one day i can meet you in person at a meet!
As long as you’re in the area!
I’m thinking about doing this but with the Integra L15 and the TLX k20
Would it be possible to do on a 10th gen hatchback? Would anything on this list be different for the hatch vs si?
now is it worth sleeving and building the 1.5 (11th gen)? knowing stock can handle over 300hp with the 27won Gin.
It’s my lucky day, I was just looking for this upload last night.
Congrats! Any advice on how I can achieve your claimed ROI on selling parts? Haha

13:05 has anyone looked into using the civic sport n/a 2.0l axles?
How tf was the transmission cooler ran? Did you swap the thermostat housing?

Where did you get your hood vents from they look so good

5:54 is necessary for the oil pump to be changed?
Hey man I have a 11th gen si would this work for me ?
It would be very similar
If someone wants a sleeper, you throw the 12K at an accord 2.0T and a stage 3 tune.
And suddenly your average 5.0 is a bit scared.
oh... its me. they're afraid of me lol
You forget the part that you can sell the parts and get most of that money back. But yeah the 10 speed auto is crazy
12k and stage 3 tune? The same tune that’s meant for stock turbo? And only meant for 93?

Tbh this engine the si should have came with from the factory.

Pioneer
Nice
Did you manage to solve that weird rubber banding /throttle sensor issue you were getting?
Will it all plug in with the hatch sports
Different ecu
Sorry. I know the questions are probably obnoxious at this point, but what subframe did you use?
Same subframe
That’s not even that bad of a price honestly
Bruh i just wanna see my car in NFS ! Lmao this build may make it worthy ! lol
Where on earth you found a fk8 transmission for $2500???!!!
I have not seen them under $4000 and they are rebuilt
I’m not sure where you’re looking but they’re all over for that price. A rebuilt transmission will go for more because it uses new components
It’s hard to find, but they are around $3k typically
Vtec always in yo 😂
You're left-handed??
Yes 😂
SOUND OF THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE 😎
Nice having money, a lot of us cant spend 12000 on a engine swap.
are you not worried about the accord block? its def not the same as the type R. from what ive heard the accord blocks are pretty fragile in comparison. for the price i guess its worth it bc getting another block is pretty cheap tho
The pistons are slightly different, but it’s the same block with a forged crank and rods. Either way they are cheap
@@gavindanitz im def swapping my Si now. these 1.5L turbo engines just arent as reliable longterm as 2.0L turbo engines. really great video man cant wait to swap mine and show you the results. @fc1_air
When they make the Type R in a coupe, then I'll buy one.
6k for an si motor and transmission you are nuts 🤣when I had my 10th gen civic si I actually got a crv 1.5t which is the same shit for 700 dollars
The crv does not have the same engine
@gavindanitz yes it does same 1.5t the only thing that changes is some bullshit on the manifold dude trust me I know I had a 2018 civic si bought brand new had it for 3 yrs and I had to swap the engine because the original motor spun a bearing I swapped in the crv 1.5t like I said the same shit point is you are not getting back anywhere near that if you were to sell the original motor and transmission
They have different internals. They are different engines
@gavindanitz what's funny is the internals in the crv 1.5t I believe are actually better 🤷🏾♂️
They’re not. I’m not sure how you even use that engine considering it has different cams and a different fuel system
Didnt watch because honda. But still want to know how much it cost. Mind commenting it for me
$12k
Buy the type r , stop cutting corners
To much drama
