I am 71 . My dad was a ww2 vet. I am so very tired of wars . The money they cost could solve so many problems in the world . And wealthy people would still be wealthy . And most people could have the opportunity to do more than just survive . They could enjoy life . And young men and women could live to build lives of their own .

I'm watching the Ken Burns documentary on the Vietnam War and it's striking to find out that as early as 1966 the U.S knew the war was unwinnable but persevered mainly to avoid being humiliated on the world stage. That's seven more unnecessary, pointless and doomed years of death, destruction and suffering all to try and save face - and even that failed. Reminds me of Russia's position now.

I lived in Ukraine some time ago too, but they all spoke in Russian in this video. It is local language as well. People surprised that people in East Ukraine (especially closer to border) barely know Ukrainian (except big cities). This country always was divided like that - West and East Ukraine. I don't support this war obviously, but leftists don't understand how deep this situation is going. And yeah, they surprised whey I say them that people in eastern Ukraine speak in Russian and in broken Ukrainian. People call me Russian bot or whatever. Jokes on them. I lived in East Ukraine and they probably didn't.

Amnesty International Secretary General Agnes Kallamar said her staff had documented attacks by the Ukrainian army from residential buildings in 19 cities in various regions, including the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions and Donbass. The report states that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, when placing positions, do not evacuate from neighboring buildings in order to minimize the loss of civilians in the event of a possible retaliatory strike.
Agnes Callamard noted: “Being on the defensive does not exempt the Ukrainian military from respecting international humanitarian law.”
But this is the use of civilians as a human shield - an absolutely terrorist tactic.
Of course, Amnesty International stipulated that "these violations do not justify the Russian Federation."
It is clear that the Amnesty International report is not a legal document. And the opinion of this organization changes quite easily. Suffice it to recall the story of the Berlin patient - Navalny. One of them Ukrainians here. Life plans are postponed indefinitely. Relocated from the capital to the Western Ukraine to the home town. Friends and friends of friends are killed in action as mobilized soldiers. Expecting to receive the draft ticket to go to army any day. Life seems grey and depressing. I'm watching the Ken Burns documentary on the Vietnam War and it's striking to find out that as early as 1966 the U.S knew the war was unwinnable but persevered mainly to avoid being humiliated on the world stage. That's seven more unnecessary, pointless and doomed years of death, destruction and suffering all to try and save face - and even that failed. Reminds me of Russia's position now.

I lived in Ukraine some time ago too, but they all spoke in Russian in this video. It is local language as well.
People surprised that people in East Ukraine (especially closer to border) barely know Ukrainian (except big cities).
This country always was divided like that - West and East Ukraine.
I don't support this war obviously, but leftists don't understand how deep this situation is going.
And yeah, they surprised whey I say them that people in eastern Ukraine speak in Russian and in broken Ukrainian.

There are always vast differences in areas that share a border with another country and a very rural area and poor area means that education is low, as people have to leave school early to work. As compared to large cities where you will traditionally find a lot more younger people, so therefore less likely to speak Russian. Agree. Just a food for thought. Even if Ukraine casualties where around 75,000 dead soldiers then how come Ukraine is pushing back Russian soldiers. Even if Ukraine received the heaviest of the losses then how come an unprepared country succeeded on such victory? The world stands behind Ukraine because Ukraine showed the world what valor is.
Even in a complete disadvantage Ukraine soldiers died for their home. The world acted upon it granting the wish to the Ukrainians that where invaded and botched by a malignant plan of complete eradication. Ukraine, unprepared, outnumbered, outgunned and completely overwhelmed died defending their institutions.
Now I can safely say Glory for Ukraine. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.
