Had this in my Celica in 2000, turn every car for 12 years after that, gutted when it finally died, far and away the best stereo I've ever had, incredible sound quality as well as my pet dolphins.
man you don't know how much i wish there was a youtube channel dedicated to 90s-2000's head unit display animations, i remember seeing some of the absolutely awesome ones like the fake star wars one with the spaceship battle, or the one with the cars street racing, there was some awesome stuff out there wish i knew what to search for to find them
I remember being in circuit city in 2000 and walking up to the car stereo display and seeing this unit playing it's little animation video and I'd stand there and watch it like I'm watching TV.
I had this same radio in my 1994 RX-7 back 1998ish. It was my first car. I also had it hooked up to some MTX subwoofers. Was so cool back in the day to have a radio like this. I don’t remember if the DVD players for cars were out yet. I do remember I had a beeper and a cell phone that you pulled the antenna out only to say “call me back after 7pm” because that’s when early nights and weekends kicked in
Wow I still have the same one in the box with the slim remote. It was a gift from my mother back in the 90s it was a $500 dollars radio back in the day. Go to install it soon . I just ordered a Bluetooth RCA adapter and we should be good.
@@007BlackGuy yes she is and I installed it on a 98 Chevy S10 with 2 amplifier 2 12s and 6 speakers and still sounds good. My screen just went dim but still sounds really good 👍
Had this in my 92 GMC Sierra with a 500 watt amp and two 12” subs you couldn’t tell me shit lol I loved this head unit I used it in 4 more trucks it lasted 9 yrs they don’t make them like this anymore brings back a lotta memories of my late teens and early 20s
At the risk of sounding like my dad - they don’t make quality stuff like this anymore. The tech in these units was way ahead of the competition - I remember begging for overtime so I could buy one and the day I went to the store I found an open box with a nice discount. Depending on the model, these ranged from $150 to about $320, right?
I have a Pioneer KEH-P7950, which is the equivalent of this stereo, but with a cassette player instead of a CD player. A truly remarkable piece of equipment! It looks awesome (despite being over 15 years old, people still get impressed by that blue screen!) and it sounds awesome as well!
Reminds me the mighty Pioneer DEH P80MP loved t hat system. Bought it used off ebay then sold it on Ebay 3 years later for more than what i paid for it lol. Loved the pinball and the dolphins.
Edit: mine was p8000r which just had different animation.. I had this in 2000. I think it was 45wx4. I always wanted to load test it but you had to build a meter back then. Now they got expensive units for testing output; you can't test with a multi meter. Mine had a animated subwoofer too
Had one of these in a 95 S10 with a Fosgate component, Fosgate amp and 4 Fosgate HE2 10s and it was loud. It was so loud that the local police gave me several warnings to keep it turned down but I wasn't a good listener lol. Wonder why? God I miss that truck and those days.
Don't know why this popped up, but glad it did. Used to have this unit in my CRX back in like 2002. Simple, elegant in it's own way, and the fine tuning options for the sound were amazing. Now you just get low, mid, high settings. Kind of sucks for those of us that are audiophiles. Plus these damn new cars can't even change the units without expensive custom remade dash and such.
My father has a similar model in his 1974 XB GT Falcon. And when I was little I used to watch it because it had the video of the international space station on it but now the lights in the back of it don't work anymore😭
1st to do - full control remote :) Yesterday finally I got 2000s R9100..in decent condition. Renewing everything as much as possible, and probably will leave it for next 10 years..Will stick player into my sons 1st car ;)
I wonder how the sound quality compares with the recent ones. This is very neat. With the music and animations this is pretty much the stereo system equivalent of vaporwave.
Much better if you do a outside comparison between vintage pioneer vs modern pioneer stereo. You'll be amazed. Today's pioneer stereos are more worried bout Bluetooth stuff plus one good flick on the knob it'll break cause it's cheep I broke one just by cleaning it easy. Shoot the old School pioneer won't break easy bottom line is new radios are cheap and disposable
my sister had bought one of this when she bought her first car.. it's was a 95 Mitsubishi eclipse.. she payed 500 for the sterio at circuit City.. good old days!..
Me too. Ik believe i had around sixty of those. We drive around at night and these radios once amd a while pop up like shit. Bing bang. And then a few ours later it was mine. 😂

You sale call me 8247845789
I remember having one with a fighter jet flying. I don’t know the exact model but it was awesome
I had the pioneer dauphin radio and the pioneer racecar radio which I think was the one with the jets
@@ryanwolf1938 Man, those were the days. I'm still trying to find the one with the fighter jets on youtube.
Regret selling mine. Even today, these models are timeless. I think these units will be highly sought after years to come, when only a few are left.

Melhor Golfinho q a Pioneer fez!!! Bons tempos ano de 1999 e 2000

Oh my gosh this takes me back
How do one of these back in like 2001......Wish they would make a new model with the same type of display or something similar
Had one in my 90’s Taurus SHO. That was a fun car! Can’t believe I use an iPod now lol.
Best radio I ever had

What if I want these animations with Bluetooth in 2024? lol
yes I'm wondering aswell if anyone got ideas how to get a modern one like this
