The prayer drainrate is actually HIGHER than piety if using ult str incred reflex and steel skin. Which, is something that alot of people don't realize.
Yep, just combine the prayers. I don't care if it is a scroll of divine combination that is a monster drop or if they just allow us to do it like with prayer filters. We don't really need chivalry (the extra str bonus would be nice), but the combined aspect is 100% needed. Most the time I just don't even pray attack or defence unless I'm flicking quick prayers.
ALL THAT SAID. Chivalry is used by NOBODY. So I understand the aspect/ask to use it on pures/zerkers. It just makes sense. Plus it gives a combat level for those 8 prayer levels. Might as well delete Chivalry if they don't let zerks or pures use it.

Chivalry is used by literally nobody and its a negligible dps increase to the least used combat style (melee).
Moving it to holy grail would've fixed the lore issue that the quest-helper reddit boys suddenly care so much about.
If Jagex integrities it tomorrow people would probably not notice the difference tbh.
I really like the idea to combine the three pure prayers. That's a perfect compromise to the people pushing for chivalry and those who are against it.

I think negative prayer or such could work for balancing a new item, but it feels really bad on an upgrade for something like a Mage Cape. Especially when Infernal and Quiver gave a stronger upgrade without any drawbacks.

Whole heartedly disagree that it’s only about QOL. It’s about offensive power locked behind the Defense skill. Deadeye and Mystic Vigour (confirmed coming to the game) are good steps in the right direction but not having a melee equivalent is ridiculous.
Strength bonus from torva is also locked behind the defense skill. Defenders are also locked behind the defense skill. I don't really see why locking things behind the defense skill is such a bad idea.

Bro what even are you talking about?? The tier 1 melee prayers are insanely good.
They had their prayer drain rate decreased massively, you can now pray them along with overheads when afking slayer tasks at negligible prayer drain or when you just don't want to bother prayer flicking Piety.
Same for tier 1 ranged and magic prayers - having them on costs almost nothing, it's a must to have them enabled, if you can't afford to use the higher tier ones.
Just pray the tier 2 prayers, the drain rate is still negligible for twice the benefit.
Or just pray piety, for most tasks you don't even have to pray protect from melee if you're praying piety in bandos. Sip a prayer pot and eat a piece of food occasionally. It's really not going to break the bank.
@Nuvizzle tier2s have six time the drainrate of tier1s, and having att, str, and def tier2s active would be almost as much as Piety's drainrate.
But the main point still stands, low lvl prayers have a use and advocating for their (essentially) removal comes from ignorance of this fact.

Yeah I think you're right about that slight negative prayer. I think if they are to do negative prayer bonus, it should be a SEVERE negative prayer bonus, so you actually FEEL your points shooting down as you put the item on. Like Frodo putting on the ring or something.
You mentioned splitting piety as a joke, but I honestly wouldn't mind something that makes basic mechanics more difficult if you want it to be. Kinda like the idea behind the stationary thralls. Doesn't necessarily have to be an strength/attack/defense split though. Anything system that involves a little extra consideration while fighting, I would be in favor of.
I think this Mage cape is not the intended "Infernal" equivalent for Magic. It feels like they're holding back, it's such a miniscule buff over what we have now mainly because Shadow limits mage gear powercreep, I think this is a temporary BiS while they rebalance Magic and the Shadow, and THEN they release the actual untradeable Infernal-tier Magic cape.
Chivalry shouldn't go to pures but it should go to Zerkers with the requirement of completing Holy Grail (which gives Def xp). I would support a consolidation of the 15% tier Prayers for pures though.
The T80 melee weapons could use buffs, mace should work and add to the Inq set eff, Saeldor (as well as Chally) should work with Crystal armour which would make Crystal armour a hybrid armour set like how it is in Leagues or in the Gauntlet. As for Rapier, I'm not sure, I think keeping that as the generic 4t weapon works fine, just buff its stats, everyone was afraid of powercreep at the time and didn't want another Chaotic rapier but most people didn't even realize that Blowpipe was way better DPS than a Chaotic rapier ever was, it's time, we can give the Ghrazi rapier the Chaotic rapier's stats and Fang would still be better on anything with good def bonuses, but the rapier would definitely carve out a niche for itself against anything low def and when not using an Inquisitor/Crystal set eff with the other two weapons.
That is what players said back with MA2 Capes... And that was 7 years ago, months after the Inferno, and players were disappointed with them too. Now they scrapped Mage Cape from Colo due to balancing issues with Shadow and offer another "temporary BiS" Magic Cape shortly after Ranged gets its big cape only 6 years after Assembler. So if they do add this Mage Cape, given their track record it feels like it would be another half a decade before we get an Infernal Tier Magic Cape.
Yes, it feels like a BiS "so far". Not a true BiS. It's not being hyped in the same way the Quiver was.

Chivalry could be an unlock after holy grail so zerkers can use it or after merlin crystal so pures can use it.

I love the concept of the combination prayers, HOWEVER that is a huge change to the entire prayer book, I'd vote yes to a QOL update like that... Now my thought and I'd love to hear your opinion or make a video on it whatever you wanna do. What if there was a QOL to quick prayers and we were able to keybind a quick prayer load out (meaning multiple)? It allows the user to be creative with the prayers they would like to utilize and it would improve gameplay. We have keybinds for tabs, run energy, and key remapping... why not have a quick prayer load out that you can keybind in the keybind interface? I've brought this up in the OSRS discord and people have argued about Jagex bringing in keybinds but I tell them... dude... we already have them and you don't even notice it? F keys, CTRL, and Shift clicking? Anyways I'd love to hear your thoughts and the communities if your keen on replying.
I feel that most the people thr continue to vote no, just do so out of pure spite for that one time they got pked for 50k.
On the topic of the t80 melee weapons, i think giving them all some sort of unique effect would be nice. Rapier could ever have a special that acts as a counter similiar to Sols counter mechanic, where if you spec at the right time youre guaranteed to hit 50% of your max hit instantly, completely removed from your normal attack delay. Mace could have a stacking defence reduction up to 15% after 5 attacks on the target? Saeldor could have.... something... sort of out of ideas for saeldor but it definitely needs something now with nox hally basically overshadowing it if you dont have endgame gear.
I think if nothing else, change the drain rate on chivalry to 1pp/3s from 1pp/1.5s to give it a niche use over piety in cases (like slayer or something) by making it more "cost effective" to use. You don't get as big a damage bonus, but it lasts longer.
On the consolidation path, I think it's fine at this point to have a tier 1 combined prayer at like 18 prayer, then the "red" trio prayers at 35 prayer. Thought process here being you get the combo prayer after you unlocked the next tier of individual prayers.
On the argument of the dislike of the idea being lore based I don't think that holds up anymore. I voted no on the initial poll to offer it as a drop for that reason but they offered an alternative route by making xp from holy grail offered via a lamp in the last poll and I voted yes that time but it did not come to pass.

I unironically would've voted yes to all the chivalry changes in the last poll if they weren't bundled. I can't abide voting yes for bundled questions because to me it just goes against the spirit of polling and is a shallow attempt by Jagex to push things through that they feel are too contentious to stand alone. I would rather the game devs not act like US politicians, I get enough of that in the real world.

That pleb arguing with himself moaning about pures wanting chivalry when they self impose restrictions. This is just not what is happening. Pures do not in fact want 3.75 combat levels for 1 max hit lol. It would just be a suboptimal build option for people who want some variety in account builds. Other than that having chivalry more accessible is just logical for mid-game progression and it's having no impact on pure meta whatsoever

Pure's choose a restriction. I just genuinely do not understand why if they choose a restriction (that 90% of them choose it to gain an advantage in pvp), then get something to accommodate the restriction. Iron is often the same way. Making updates that cater to pures or irons is not the direction imo.
When something becomes a staple of the game like pures, zerkers, iron man, etc they should absolutely add in things to cater to those accounts because they became popular enough to actually have a community you have Pure clans, pure content creators, pure live streamers, it has a community like anything else and enough of players that it’s worth catering too your way of playing the game is just as important as another’s I never understood people who downvote just because they won’t participate or gain from the update

Jagex has to be careful to not go too far with how they update the basics of old school. Im not against new prayers, new content, etc, however, its a "slippery slope" if we arent careful. People have to remember that pures & other restricted accounts are meant to min-max & play around the restrictions. I never understood the complaints some have about certain items, content, etc being out of reach for pures, or some things being wayyyy more difficult for them, when they themselves made the decision to create a pure...

@@Beikenost sounds like a spite vote to me, there is always going to be Pkers no matter what, if Pures die off they will just move up to the med/main for the QOLs and so much more dps. They aren't going to stop they are just going to restrict themselves less because it's not fun with the current system of prayers.
Restricted accounts should have restricted access to content as it is part of the game mode. We recently removed CoX boosting because of the integrity of Ironman. I see your points about the UIM QoL changes and as a 2250 total level UIM I think they have gone quite too far. The early game POH storage in the costume room is quite too much for 42 Construction.
I agree with your suggestion for combined early prayers (Burst of Strength/Clarity of Thought or the other 2). Chivalry should stay where it is.
Construction isn't that hard anymore between MH and how many solos they did during 99 FM.

The whole reason pures exist is to take advantage of the jankiness of combat levels to have absurd DPS in their combat bracket. High tier prayers were given a defense requirement specifically to balance that because pures were too OP. Keyword "were." They did fix it. You no longer have an advantage for refusing to level your defense, and in fact, today you are disadvantaged. So why are we talking about breaking it again by buffing pures? And why are we framing it as QoL or "having empathy"? It's not about that. It's about balance.
So look, if you want to combine the low tier prayers into one so the pures who don't know about quick prayers can have the QoL of clicking once, fine. But giving them chivalry is a buff. A buff they shouldn't have for BALANCE reasons. Of COURSE they want it, Saeder. Why wouldn't they want to have the advantage they once had? It's not about what they want, it's about what's healthy for the game.
As for rapier, fully agree it needs love. Maybe more so than mace and blade. Blade still has a place in the iron meta as its accessible fairly early there, and mace is better with the improved inquisitors. Rapier is in an awkward place where it's just worse than fang for stab on everything besides slayer mobs, and is more rare from harder content. You could buff its stats so it becomes better than fang in some cases, or go the elder maul route and show it some love in the form of a spec or passive effect.
I also do like the concept of giving it some sort of effect that makes it BiS for melee nylos. Making its use case the content it comes from makes a lot of sense. I like the idea of removing or reducing the attack delay if it finishes, or maybe going monkey room route and guaranteeing oneshot on melee nylos (i don't know if that is enough to take it over swift blade since it is still 4t and swift will oneshot about 3/4 anyway. Dual maracas oneshot about 95% and I believe the consensus is still to take swift blade. So that might not be enough).

As a 1 defence player, stop all this catering to 1 defence. No we play a game with a set of boundaries we give up our rights to have access to everything. Thats what draws me to 1 defence. If you want to do PvM etc just make a main with defence..

I voted no to chivalry for pures mostly because of the way jagex tried to pass it sneakily with some pvm rewards. Also because I believe chivalry should be the zerker 45 def (maybe 30 for inq/masori builds) prayer, while pures use the regular ones they've been using forever. "oh but they have to click 3 times" yeah and one of those is purely for defense bonuses, while on a build that strictly focuses on 0 defense...
Chivalry doesn't need the defence bonus. Nobody uses those prayers in pvm for the defence bonus. They use them in pvp sure, but making an attack and str bonus prayer (while still needed to activate steel skin for defence bonus) is the best way. We just need a combo att/str prayer, fk the defence
