Trance is terrible, easily the 3rd worst game mechanic in the franchise. A blemish on an otherwise perfect game
@@lightningshy5287 agreed, im 20 hours into ff9 so far and nearly every single time i waste my trance in a random encounter, or the character goes trance when the enemy is already dead, simply allowing you to use it when you want to would make it so much better

I like how the snare starts playing the backbeat earlier than the original, for a song that originally feels that has a lot of build up, it makes it more dynamic! Sucha small change that adds a lot, great job!

Ah the good old days, when you looked forward to battles for the soul purpose of hearing the fantastic battle themes.
That's why I play the old ones in the series. I like the 4 and 3 battle themes the best. Battle IV comes in 1st, Battle III comes in 2nd, and Battle IX comes in third.
As if it isnt the same nowadays, final fantasy battle themes are always stellar all the way to 15.

Final Fantasy 9 ain't the best Final Fantasy. Neither are any of the other numbers. They are all magnificent.
Might just be the best FF IX battle theme cover on TH-cam.
And playing it and the original at the same time is orgasmic.

They all seem like such plain characters at first but god do these two have such depth. I'm so glad they got together at the end.

FFIX is one of those rare masterpiece that I think doesn't need a remake. Maybe rebalance the game, remaster the graphics, but the core game itself doesn't need any changing.

Seriously, it was finished but incomplete because of time constraints, past the forest of ancients lies a cave area you can't access, holy WAS meant to be recovered and more, but there was not enough time, so the story took precedence and the simple caves, like the materia ones, got the go ahead, and I think maybe they actually had planned to include Gilgamesh, godo was a kind of but I think there was meant to be more to the wutai area, like quite possibly the bridges was supposed to have a Gilgamesh encounter AFTER getting back your materia, but because nobody knows how unfinished it was, most things are just speculation, but with mobius FF GILGAMESH quoting "the SOLDIER!" you can only assume he was supposed to be added in, and that probably was enough to make square have to remake it, just to finish what originally couldn't be, so essentially we actually get what was meant to be, even if it's a little different, so yes you are right in what you say, but that was because of the switch to the PlayStation, which original plans was teaming up with Nintendo, to make the play station, unfortunately the prototypes was not great compared to the PlayStation we got what had it's own creator hardware shaped like the PlayStation was

Final Fantasy IX is my favorite game of all time. I'm playing bravely default which is quite similar to ix and v.

Trying not to hype FF9 for Steam up too much for myself. But I just want to play the game and get past the theater scene. EVERY physical copy I had crashed at that scene. I tried in 2 different playstations and 2 different PS2s. Same result with two separate disc sets.

I still can't believe Final Fantasy went from these 16x16 pixel 8 bit sprites on the NES to what you see today. That's fucking amazing.
Best ff battle theme.
This is far superior to the original, mediocre battle theme. It actually has some energy and decent instruments, especially the drum parts. The bass doesn't sound like it's only there for nostalgic purposes. It is actually a functioning, interesting part of the mix.
I'm also a sucker for light accompaniment on bells, so bonus points. Really nice job.
I compared the original to a lame Pokemon battle theme, and this one is a fine Pokemon battle theme for an old 3-d type Pokemon game.
I think the original was pretty good.

The fact that everyone just talks about VII when comparing games is very sad, did seriously no one played VI? FVII is basically a worse version of VI with a worse cast of characters. VI and IX should be the only ones considered for best FF game.
