Sell out is when someone goes for the money. There is no big money in this. Floor is a giant in our world that the pop world wouldn't touch. She wants to share her current musical expression. She wont sell her music with her body and she is more than twice the age and backbone than the poor product girls companies put out. I highly respect such an integrity both commercially and musically. She wouldn't have made this song in her 20's but she is growing all the time. We are lucky to experience it.
Floor just wants to broaden her horizon music wise. She wrote the lyrics herself and this song is all about leaving Covid behind and ignite the fading spark of life again. Burn the couch you have been forced to sit in the last couple of years. For Floor especially this one expresses the need to get on tour again with Nightwish and burn the silence down. She showed it to Tuomas and he liked it. This song is part of an solo album which will come out later this year.

@@NeeceLoneWolf Sometimes it helps to watch a video instead of just commenting on the title. To be fair, its quite provocative but that’s the intent. I love Floor and genuinely think she’s one of the top 10 female artists of all time. “Selling out” is just a term angry fans use when they don’t want an amazing artist/athlete/performer to earn a lot more money or get more fame or branch out and go solo. Honestly, its selfish to impose judgement on the choices an artist makes to perform if they decide theres a way to use their status to get even more famous or make more money or want to branch out. Thank you for commenting. I honestly like having real conversations with real people like you with an open mind and a different opinion. As Henk Poort once said, " good music is good music - period". I'll follow her whatever she sings.
Growing up my favorite go to singer was Linda Ronstadt. She started out as the "Queen of Rock", then did a couple of American standards albums with Nelson Riddle. She also did an opera (Pirates of Penzance), is well known for duets and then did three albums of Mariachi songs. I think she just followed her interest and made it work. Plus now that she can't sing anymore I bet she doesn't think "Oh if I had only tried this style of music". Floor has been singing metal since she was 16. I think her success on Beste Zingers, covers and her sold out concerts gave her the confidence to explore different genres.
Floor has a solo album, this is her first release from it. She said it was about the time in Lock Down, when she and much of the world were shut in. She has no plans of leaving Nightwish, she loves them and that music to death. She gave Tuomas, the grandmaster, as she called him, an early listen to it, and he liked it.
It just scares me as I know she loves Nightwish but with my man crush Marko gone and huge success with Beste Zangers and her covid solo covers i feel like this might be the beginning of the end

That is what I love about Tuomas and Nightwish. He never stops a fellow musician from elporing music. It is not ego that rules him and his Nightwish project. No one ever stopped Tuomas from his art and he has grown into quite a composer. far better than the crap current in the US market. Nightwish will continue with Floor Jensen and Floor likewise will continue to grow in the arts . We should capture the coming time, for a day will come when the tours will end. I think the song is about what we have endured for the last 2 years .Being locked down and unable to live a normal life, and being made silent. Yet within all of us is a burning light and desire for freedom and the right to live our lives. I think that is the message here. Burn the silence down and let the fire out !
Beautifully said. Tuomas had/has his solo stuff, Kai is with Wintersun, Marko also did Solo stuff (and I am probably missing other stuff...).
And still they all gather together for a new album and tours.
And to be honest, if Tuomas was in any way "possessive" with his band members, Floor wouldn't have been able to do all the great solo stuff like the cover songs on her TH-cam, the solo stuff right now or being part of "Sing meinen Song", the German version of "Beste Zangers" that is running on TV right now (where songs of Nightwish will be covered by the way... Either Tuomas and/or the record label had to give permission for the commercial use of that).

I was gonna say I wasn't into this song that much but now that I know what it's about I'll stick with Floor. There are some songs I haven't liked but this is not one of them. I've been with her since Wacken 2013 and I'm not backing off now.

whelp, if you watched the video, that was my gut thought before I even pressed play. Hearing that it was a pop song was fake news. If you watch the video, I quickly find out that Floor can do no wrong!
