Its this style displayed which morphed from 70's disco/funk that reminds how crazy talented the funk and disco bassists of 30 odd years ago were and are!

Very good lesson! The real role of a bassist, not too fashion, not that hidden inside the track.
I love this guy! Great, precise and informative video, thank you very much. I am not a bass player but i am into electronic stuff and now i got a better insight on how things work in such context. #Respect
bro, there is nothing like a good old fashion bass guitar to do the work right. its super hard to get a decent bass sound with software. I think I'm going to buy a bass now.
Nice! I tried to mix my bass with a synth playing the same notes, but it didn't quite sound right to me. Now I know I should go an octave lower. And it still all in the hands it seems :)
hi, this is the best techno sound I ever hear. Would you please share your setup? I really like the techno sound on Figure 2. What box do I need and how to set it up please.... Actually, all the sounds you demo here are awsome....
Matt... This is excellent. Some great tips explained really well .... The thing about a lot of great tutors (including you) even though it may appear you're giving away some of your secrets ...... but it's a reference point to give us direction and focus which help inspire and guide us rather than have us floundering around ......
I don't want to say anything, this video is great and informative. But thats not techno. It doesn't even get near of what techno really is. And i know its possible to play techno on a bass. i'm not an expert of music genres but i'll write what i think it is. Figure 1 is kinda 80's/ disco house figure 2 disco figure 3 this is techno figure 4 thats electro synth figure 5 funk? dance? figure 6 Techno! figure 7 funk figure 8 house? figure 9 techno so from 9 figures are only 3 really techno. I'm glad that some exist. but pleaseeee, thats kinda triggering 😅 and this is definitely not a hate comment, i just wanted to make something clear. (yes my grammar is not perfect 👍🏼)

Absolutely love the bass
sounds in this video
Simple but efficient! Thanks for this great lesson which gave me some cool new ideas to try!
I have no use for this lesson but it was still entertaining to listen and watch. I'd probably pick up a bass just for this lol.
I don't play the bass but this was the best informative vid I have seen on bass theory...
I love this guy!

Great one sir🎉🎉🎉🎉
EDM really has gone mainstream in the US! Hahaha It's even infiltrated guitar magazines. Awesome.
Fantastic
Thank you so much
i really like the intro good job dude
Can use this for Stonner rock too tee hee
I Found It 2 Be a Great Lesson In That Genre !~!
Kudo's , Mang
I'd highly recommend the studio version of The Light Pours Out Of Me by Magazine if you like faux synth bass sounds :-)
Enjoyed it😄
Could you please tell us what pedals you used? The tones are quite nice :)
The Boss OC 2 and OC 3 are popular octave pedals for this sort of thing
There is a POD right there in the stool, possibly a POD HD500 in a bean shape
this is amazing but this isn't techno... this is disco or house music more specifically
Wonderful video. Tantalizingly short winded.
Daft punk comes to mind
Good !!!and thank you !
what are the chrod changes?
the first example.... fuck yeah!!
sick!
maybe 20 years ago people would call this music "Techno" but that's a looooooong time ago… ^^
Not even in the same neighborhood as techno but nice work.
That's Locrian, not Phrygian
it's Phrygian at least when he played it
+SantomPh In the example it is Phrygian, just when he plays the scale on it's own it's Locrian.
Cat can throw down, damn!
10/10
I didn't know Sylvester Stalone played bass.
Σταυρος Ελλας lol
that figure 8 tho
Very useful for me ... Thank you. And ... really not techno I guess ... Nevermind 👍 Still brought me something useful ⚡️🎧
This next example is Bassed...!!!! That's Right!!!!!
lets do some dancin. lets show me my moves
has anyone in the history of man kind ever broken a bass string????????
Can't do this playing with a pick, the tone would be way off for starters. I'll add this to my "Don't use a pick argument" collection lol
Heheh..... I have the distinct impression this guy hasn't heard much (any?) techno before.
lol I have no rhythm
how to sound like twenty one pilots, hahaha jk, i love twenty one pilots tho

Great but not even remotely techno
You come across very aggressive and annoyed. Would you rather be doing something else mate?
Come on, man, nobody wants to be playing this shit.
+ultra1000 Possibly, i just don't appreciate his demeanor.
+jimboishere11 His work is quality. This is a valuable video. He clearly cares because he's made a good product here.
He did a great job. No useless babbling but straight to the point...
I never got such an impression, wtf, the dude was flawless!
This is insulting to techno music in how he presents this topic with such mediocrity and lack of product interest
OK clearly techno still sux even when real instruments are used
Woww really ? are you stupid ?
