  • The constellation Sagitta, also known as the Arrow, is one of the smaller and less prominent constellations in the night sky. It is located in the northern celestial hemisphere and is relatively inconspicuous compared to some of the more well-known constellations like Orion or Ursa Major.

Thank you for another brilliant video, they are so helpful. I recently managed to get out of my light polluted home area and see the sky from a dark area and could enjoy lookig for many of the fainter constellations, like Sagitta and Delphinus.

I feel like I would be able to find this constellation now, thank you.

This is a tricky little constellation to find at first but once you've found it, you'll never not see it. M71 is a beautiful cluster to see through a dob 😊

Living on Australia, I've always been able to identify the Crux (Southern Cross) and the Pointers. Only recently I identified my first and favourite constellation that being Scorpius and it is phenomenal as it actually looks like a Scorpion. Thanks for your help.
Love and light from Tasmania Australia 💜♒♏

I know how to pronounce Sagitta now. I've looked at M71 in my telescope and it is pretty. Not far above it in Vulpecula is the Dumbbell Nebula, M27 which can be seen in 10x50 binoculars, but not well unless in dark skies.

Came here to mention the Dumbbell nebula as well. I use Sagitta in dark skies to triangulate to the Dumbbell, visible in my 10 inch Dobsonian.

@@msittig That's excellent. I sometimes wish I had a big Dob, but alas, nowhere to keep it. I enjoy finding DSOs and double stars, it's fairly easy once you learn how.

Wouldn't it be cygnus (said like kig-nuhs)? C's and G's in Latin are always hard

Pretty faint one but in my Bortle 6 home light polluted sky I can easily pick it out with my 2x40 Helios wide field binoculars and when I am on my travels to dark places I can see it naked eye.I reckon that you can probably see it from the Antarctica Peninsula, not that any of us are likely to be there!,as that is well north of 70 degrees and indeed quite a bit of it is north of the Antarctic Circle. The Antarctic is the only continent I have never been to!
