Not really a cleaning question but how would you go about straightening premolar that are protruding outward my orthodontist has been talking about torquing them for the longest but they wanna do an extract and retract in order to do it. I have a open bite/cross bite and I’ve had braces for awhile now since 2018 so my teeth are relatively straight now with the exception of my pre-molars. Just looking for another option that doesn’t require me to remove a tooth
I think they'd have to take a CEPH/CBCT to see if it's possible to fit it in to the bone with maybe some IPR? Ask your doctor if he has this technology or can refer out for it- but if you already have an openbite/crossbite it seems like it's a challenge- BTW I have a TON of content on this in my braces playlist in my channel. Another option is to switch to aligners and do sequential distialization if you have no wisdom teeth- good question!!
Please don't. Premolar extractions are generally correlated with quite a lot of issues like Obstructive sleep apnea, tinnitus etc. I had my own two of them extracted on the left and I suffer a lot from these problems. Been trying to find a way to reverse the narrowed air way through MSE or maybe other jaw surgeries but idk yet. Please choose an alternative option where extract or retract are not required or you may regret it later on.
MSE is an upper jaw surgery though- if this is lower there isn't anything you can do without jaw surgery but yes that's why I recommended getting the advanced imaging so that the PT can see if there IS room, but the side effects mentioned are showing there is not
