Wow! Amazing precision on free hand sharpening! I've been trying sharpening with stones and sand paper about an year and I can get a shaving engde but the edge itself its pretty inconsistent. Are there any tips you could share on keeping a consistent angle? If you think it's interesting it may be nice to shoot a video on the topic, but still thats my own opinion :). Keep up the good work, really enjoy your videos!
Neeves knives shows a simple trick of placing a sharpie mark along the thumb pad, where the knife rests on the stone, at the angle you want. Then you pinch it with your index finger, to duplicate it, for the return pass. It is very clever. I'd recommend checking his sharpening vids out, for many tips, that may help.
Spyderco Police will be back in k390 and blue frn handle. The price will be around 190€ from what i saw. The g10 k390 police was a bit too expensive here in Europe.
Stefan, after i saw your videos on the Haidu stones, i went ahead and bought the 180 and 600 grit ones. I must say my experience with them is nothing like yours. I have not tried them with slurry, though. However, i did try them soaked, dry, with soap and even baby oil in the end. Still no luck with all the different steels i used the Haidu stones on. The Norton Crystolon is a much better stone. And, in my opinion, if you follow the edge from the fine crystolon with an edge or microbevel from the Fine India you get a sharper knife, compared to Haidu 600.
@@theodorosmalliopoulos7231 I use haidu stones to polish cpm steels. I easily can use only sigma 1000 SiC and 1500 haidu SiC but it will not be a polished edge. Apirance before best sharpening results...
@@stefanwolf88 Did you get the Sigma ii 1000? I bought one a few months ago. It really is a nice stone. After trying different things, i started using it with mineral oil. With water it is much rougher and a bit more friable than what i like.
Great job as always, sir!
It's interesting the Suehiro G8 doesn't load up on you at all. I have a Suehiro G8 also and it loads up badly.
Never used a Police, like the general design though.
Nice job!

I have a three part series on my TH-cam channel about how to sharpen a knife. Cliff Stamp has a great video also, the Three Step Method.

Great video, as usual. The audio feedback on the G-8 was particularly nice and clear. Do you know the approximate HRC of that blade?
63/64 HRc
When is the push cut?
After I spend some money regrinding it and get rid of the 40+ degrees edge.
Plenty sharp mate 😁
