The whole 2nd apron will move your pick to the end of the first round doesn't seem like a big deal to me considering that if you're really that great of a team, if you're one of the top 3 best records in the league, then you're going to be picking at the end of the round anyway. The bigger issue is that your pick is "frozen" meaning that you can't include it in a potential deal - you can't trade it nor can you include it in a pick swap. But teams will probably be creative like how they avoid the Stepien Rule by just agreeing to trade draft rights of that "frozen" pick and then agreeing who to select once that particular draft day comes up
This year maybe, but not done done. They will likely win a couple more over the next 5 years by just staying competitive and getting hot in the playoffs.

The talent difference between a starting lineup of Brunson, Bridges, Anunoby, Randle, and Mitch vs Jrue, White, Brown, Tatum, Porzingis is really not that big of a gap. When you look at a bench of Mcbride, Donte, Hart, Precious that's where I think the knicks have the celtics beat. We'll see. Will be interesting next year to see how this plays out. I like the knicks odds to win the eastern conference.
I find this whole thing about taking less money insanely ridiculous. After this contract, Brunson will have made over $200 million. Can anyone tell me what difference an extra $38 million would have made in his life? At that point, it’s simply more numbers. That’s it. The challenge for the Knicks is keeping everyone healthy (A thing for every contender, yes) But their depth at the 5 isn't exactly world-beating and OG needs to be given the 2019 Kawhi treatment. If Embiid is healthy and they meet in the playoffs, I wouldn't bet against the 76ers until the Knicks at least get someone of quality at the 5.
Saying OKC are CLEARLY the favorites in the West is a little short sighted. I know Denver cheaped out in free agency but they still have the best player in the conference and were up 20 in the second half against the Wolves in game 7. Denver would have definitely knocked out either Dallas or OKC in the playoffs last year and the only reason they didn’t make Finals was they faced the team that was constructed specifically to beat them (by their former GM who clearly knows their flaws better than anyone else).

Yeah, really only two tankers in Portland and Utah - the other 13 appear to be competitive. Spurs improved but their competition is tough, and I could see the Clippers on the outside looking in. Gonna be interesting to see with such a big carrot dangling for some front offices to want to pull the plug depending on their draft pick situation.

I feel like the thunder had the best offseason tbh. Got rid of a player who made them worse (giddey) and brought in two really high impact, starting caliber role players, and somehow did it without giving up any draft picks lol. They're absolutely stacked and have tons of assets still. Sixers i think had the 2nd best offseason. Obviously bringing in George is a big win, but he is 34 and they had to give him 250 million. With bringing back oubre and lowry and then bringing in drummond/caleb martin/eric gordon their depth is probably about the same as last year, potentially better if Ricky Council turns into a contributor Knicks offseason was fine but i feel like it's being a bit overrated. 5 first round picks for Mikal bridges is insane. Good player but come on. They lost a really important player (Hartenstein), and while that won't kill them by any means i would be very nervous relying on Mitchell robinson to stay healthy as my defensive anchor. The brunson contract is ridiculous value to say the least. But unless they have another big move left it's hard for me to look at that roster and, unlike the Thunder and Sixers, see championship upside. Good team but it's hard to envision a squad of like a top 10-15 type player surrounded by role players topping out as anything more than a ECF team and they spent 5 firsts to make it happen. I suppose that assessment can change if Julius randle plays like an all star in the playoffs and mitchell robinson stays healthy but i'll believe either of those things happen when i see it, let alone both happening

I find this whole thing about taking less money insanely ridiculous. After this contract, Brunson will have made over $200 million. Can anyone tell me what difference an extra $38 million would have made in his life? At that point, it’s simply more numbers. That’s it. He’ll get far more enjoyment from playing with better players and competing for a title than extra money he would never even notice.

Celtics had a brilliant offseason, and here we are talking about the Knicks.
The “slight” haircut that Melo took was $5M off of $129M. Brunson did what we wanted Melo to do but maybe he didn’t trust the front office that was in charge at the time, the way Jalen does this one.
The challenge for the Knicks is keeping everyone healthy (A thing for every contender, yes) But their depth at the 5 isn't exactly world-beating and OG needs to be given the 2019 Kawhi treatment. If Embiid is healthy and they meet in the playoffs, I wouldn't bet against the 76ers until the Knicks at least get someone of quality at the 5.
Saying OKC are CLEARLY the favorites in the West is a little short sighted. I know Denver cheaped out in free agency but they still have the best player in the conference and were up 20 in the second half against the Wolves in game 7. Denver would have definitely knocked out either Dallas or OKC in the playoffs last year and the only reason they didn’t make Finals was they faced the team that was constructed specifically to beat them (by their former GM who clearly knows their flaws better than anyone else).

Embiid and pg are both now one year older they are also injury prone. the sixers bench did get better, but they also lost cam payne to the knicks who literally won a play off game last year by himself for the 76ers. the knicks add mikal bridges a top two way nba talent who has a previous ncaa championship with his best friends that are now his teammates. knicks had the best win record in the NBA when fully healthy. they match up really well against boston. you also forget about randle 2x all nba player that didnt play more than half of last season and still made an all star team hes 25 and 10 guy that wasnt even playing. the pacers are more likely to be 7th seed forsure they suck on defense and have an overrated coach. knicks are all in their prime a young team loaded with two way players. they were also 2nd seed last year and were missing randle, og, and mitch along with others for most of the season and the playoffs. brunson owns spida mitchelle in the playoffs 2 series now and the cavs got bullied by randle and mitch last time they played. the magic are a baby team theyre not doing anything soon these young guys need a few seasons of play off experience before they make noise. Yeah, really only two tankers in Portland and Utah - the other 13 appear to be competitive. Spurs improved but their competition is tough, and I could see the Clippers on the outside looking in. Gonna be interesting to see with such a big carrot dangling for some front offices to want to pull the plug depending on their draft pick situation.
The olders team like Suns, Clippers, Warriors, and Lakers will regress more and the younger teams will continue to progress. And the teams with players in their prime like OKC, Wolves, Denver, and Mavs will dominate. Lets not overthink it.

I feel like the thunder had the best offseason tbh. Got rid of a player who made them worse (giddey) and brought in two really high impact, starting caliber role players, and somehow did it without giving up any draft picks lol. They're absolutely stacked and have tons of assets still.
Sixers i think had the 2nd best offseason. Obviously bringing in George is a big win, but he is 34 and they had to give him 250 million. With bringing back oubre and lowry and then bringing in drummond/caleb martin/eric gordon their depth is probably about the same as last year, potentially better if Ricky Council turns into a contributor
Knicks offseason was fine but i feel like it's being a bit overrated. 5 first round picks for Mikal bridges is insane. Good player but come on. They lost a really important player (Hartenstein), and while that won't kill them by any means i would be very nervous relying on Mitchell robinson to stay healthy as my defensive anchor. The brunson contract is ridiculous value to say the least. But unless they have another big move left it's hard for me to look at that roster and, unlike the Thunder and Sixers, see championship upside. Good team but it's hard to envision a squad of like a top 10-15 type player surrounded by role players topping out as anything more than a ECF team and they spent 5 firsts to make it happen. I suppose that assessment can change if Julius randle plays like an all star in the playoffs and mitchell robinson stays healthy but i'll believe either of those things happen when i see it, let alone both happening
